I know what you mean by smooth sounding woofers. I just got an SSA Evil 15” and that things sounds amazing while also getting loud! I love me a 15” subwoofer with a low FS in a big ported box with low tuning. Once you have something that digs real low like that you can never have it any other way. I haven’t had a sub that sounds as good as this one since I got rid of my Incriminator Audio Lethal Injection.

The v2 take an abnormally large cutout. So I did not want to ruin the other box. If I cut it I could fit nothing else in it. So that’s why I made a custom box for them only. Otherwise I would have used same box. Thanks so much for watching inappropriate it. But I did make box specs same in the v2 boxes they are just layer out differently.

I’m just using a DMM and the clip monitor that comes with it! It’s on a 2013 Nissan armada platinum with the Bose factory system! I used a LOC the 1st was the kicker with the remote out and now I’m using the PAC LP7-2 bc It allows me to set the gain on the LOC bc I thought that it was causing clipping bc the kicker one wasn’t adjustable and I thought I wasn’t running the right Volts (rca) in that my amp called for! I have 1/0 OFC gauge power and ground, have a good ground, running a taramps big boss 3 wire to 4 ohms(1750w) with a resilient sounds 15 gold v2, phase and everything is fine! Stock alt, no big 3! Thanks for your time! 🫡💪🏼💯 Also I would like to mention I took your advice and bought the same screws, washers, and stripping to go around the speaker before installing it! Lol

I just got a set of these exactly like yours and got them in a box I built to the specs on the website. You are absolutely right about how smooth they are! Almost scary smooth, there's no mechanical indicators to tell when you're giving them too much, just smells and heat lol. That being said, I'm having a hard time finding a good range to run them at without overheating. Using a Taramps 5k bass. They sound amazing, though.

These subs seemed like they needed a Smart 8k to really start getting down. The 5k didn't really seem to push them very hard. I know they were brand new and stiff, but it just seemed like they wanted more power to really get movin to xmax. It's a little misleading rating these at 1500 RMS and actually needing more like 6k RMS to really get to thier sweet spot. It sure seems like the coils and everything else can handle 3k each. I wonder if having them wired down to half ohm would had made a difference? I doubt it though. Still, you might had broken into the 149's with it wired at .5 ohm. I still think these subs need a Smart 8k on them to really get the most out of the setup.

  • @HiFiVector

Yes with them running on a smart 5 being WAY overpowered the 4 cuft per sub was a little much . But if you run them on a more normal power amp 4 cuft each will be perfect. So it just depends on how much Power you’re going to try to feed them . But actually the box is fine they over powered . But still did pretty well even though they are 1000 w rms each. Generally 4 cuft is great for a 15” sub. But if you’re going to grossly overpower, then yes, you should reduce box size to help with power handling.

3 quick questions if u don’t mind: 1) Why would a company stop including the foam gasket on their subs if they know it’s required? To be sure there has to be a reason other than to save a few Pennies. 2) do you have the outside diameter of these subs? For some reason their website doesn’t include it, I’ve emailed RS and asked for it but it’s the weekend and I’m impatient lol. I have a very narrow space I can fit these 3)Do you think it’s possible to mount them in 18”? My space has plenty of air space, but very limited in width and I didn’t know if I can mount a 15 on a 18” wide baffle after taking into account the .75” on each side. I’m new to this if u can’t tell lol

Now im trying to send it back and hope they don't screw me , oh and it took 5 wee to get a box that is useless. I like low bass what box do you recommend. Thanks

Yea in my opinion that’s way too low. These subs already hit the lows insane even with 33 to 35 hz tuning. So if you go lower you aren’t gaining much but you are losing the bass that’s more audible n the musical zone. The sundown x series like this as well and actually sound better in the 32 to 35hz range.

I’m him gonna make a drinking game every time there is a comment about the basket.. wtf care about the basket? It goes inside the box.. long as it supports the motor.. allows for a big piston and long throw then nothing else matters? What I see from v1 to v2 in this is looks like mostly they increased the mechanical travel.. as such they have to increase the motor force a little so it can overcome the air compression to actually make use of that new travel.. That’s the only part of the basket that means jack. The reason the cutout is larger is because in order to get more travel wo tearing spiders or surrounds you can only do that by increasing the diameter of the spider. In order to increase thr the backer has to have larger diameter and as such larger cutout. Of the cut out was the same.. it would just be a branded v1 as a v2 lol😂. Not funny tbh cause that is actually what a lot of companies actually do. Clearly need more power they hardly moving.. And for what it’s worth.. idk how anyone that has an equinox (which isn’t a truck it’s a crossover lol.. doesn’t replace that center dash.. worst design of any automobile ever.. looks more like a spaceship with all those buttons.. if I owned one the first thing would be like a 14” tablet to replace all that.. Odd that’s the only vehicle they make that has that console.. the traverse which is very similar just little larger has a standard setup..
