My cousin went to Spain as a tourist.But suddenly he passed away there. Alhamduleellah the Muslim community there was so supportive and helped his family with the funeral.and burial. Jazakallahu khairan kathira.

@@Rimsim1520 Yes, i have a few. For example Abu Yahya Muhammad Ibn Ali Ibn Abi-Imran At-Tinnalali born in 1179 in Marrakech was by 25th great grandfather. He is known by just being named Abu Yahya, he had a son who was captured by the christians and forced to convert, to Jaime de Gator. And his blood line continued. And you may have heard of the Maia family in portugal. Which has been wrapped with controversy family origin wise they tried to hide it. But i spoke with a geologist who went to portugal to review all the documents, and they found witnesses, signatures, land selling and buying & a nisab. We can start with Zaydan (Zahadon Al Umawi) ibn Zayd born 833 my 40th great grandfather. Married Aragunte Fromariques born 890. According to documents of Nisab his father Zayd or Zahad born 0853 married a daughter of Abdullah I ibn Muhammad Al-Umawi ruler of al andalus born 844. It is stated it was a marriage within the family. So Zayd and Abdullah’s daughter were cousins, Zayd being from the Habib clan. Their connection stems from Abd Al-Malik born 646. I also have more, ancestors from Morocco and Mozarabs who intermixed and adoted the culture. But that is just a start

I travelled over 70 countries and I have seen the strength of islam . I was not following islam in the beginning and then I had seen the horrible life I had. But Allah brought me back to islam and gave me everything back again.. so I offer you to turn back to Allah if you want a good life .

The muslim man from Seville said that the new muslims are not connected to the past muslims. I think many historians will disagree. Many muslims of centuries ago were forced to convert and there is a definite link between the past and the present. I always pray that our generations to come remain muslim. You reverting to Islam is the prayers of your ancestors being answered in your favour.

actually he's right; after last muslim polity in granada fell in 1492, the muslims were slowly forcibly converted, but they continued to be crypto muslims, this angered the church so in 1609 they ordered all moriscos to be expulsed from spain regardless of outward religion

My first visit to Granada was in early 2000. I met a Spanish convert Muslim who related a story from his catholic mother, that the way the Catholic Spaniards washed their faces was like the way of Muslims making Wudu. After passing many centuries Islam had left an indelible mark on Spainish architecture and society.

We need to know that a 3rd of the Andalus Muslims were killed, a 3rd made hijrah, and the last 3rd were forcefully christianized. I believe the last is why they kept some practices, and not necessarily because the Crusaders accepted Muslim practices.

I'm interested in knowing more about them, because there are some tales within some Bosnian Muslim intellectuals that the Andalus Muslims who escaped from Spain settled in Bosnia and that they are their descendants - which I find to be ridiculous!! They even claim that my family name came from Spain, when it's clearly recorded only in Croatia and Chechia in pre-Ottoman time and a Latin version in Ancient Rome.

I went there same year in the month of august. We prayed there. A nice spanish-muslim guy gave us how the mosque built. The difficulties.. it has a beautiful view of the Alhambra.

Someone asked: Will that be because of our small numbers at that time? When I see the dedication of these Muslim brothers and sisters, I worry that am I Muslim enough although I am born Muslim. Sunnah sports they are learning.! We take every opportunity every excuse to move away from sunnah. May Allah forgive us. And make us Momin. And help these Muslims and all others Muslim around the world and all humans in general. Sunan an-Nasa'i 4065 It was narrated from Anas that : 'Ali came to some people of Az-Zutt, who worshipped idols, and burned them. I find it is a natural return to Islam in Spain, not only from the historical standpoint but in a more personal manner, my mother’s grandparents were both Spaniards, my father’s were North African decendants and since my childhood I hold the nostalgic feeling of both cultures, which have the Muslim factor in common.

Atmosphere of muslim society in Spain is filled with ease and tranquility.😊 If you want to get more acquainted with the life of muslim community of Spain there is El canal de Paloma.

I stayed with one of the families from this Spanish/Western Muslim community in Granada in 2009, and it was the best decision I made. Not only did I change for the better living amongst this community ( being a British Muslim myself), but I would say this Spanish Muslim community is one of the most sophisticated Muslim communities I came into contact with. Unfortunately, I made the drastic mistake of returning to London only after 7 months of being there, and not only do I regret it, but my life nose dived for the worse (again) and I really struggled to find a similarly sophisticated Muslim community* in the metropolis of London. * After returning to the UK in late 2009, I did visit the British sister community in Norwich which again,I felt privileged to experience. However, as I returned to my life pre-Granada in the South East London borderline with Kent, things went back to a very mundane bleakness. I love London, and after another experience living abroad in the last 3 years, I now know London is my home and where I belong, but the Muslim communities in London (from my personal experience ) haven't always been welcoming, can be very insular and lack the sophistication of the Muslim communities that I interacted with in Granada and Norwich.

@@ummpearls Thanks for your comment. In the hope that your question is genuine, here is my reply. The Muslim community in Granada ( or when I was there at least) were able to integrate while also adhering to foundational Islamic principles and teachings, neither being insular, isolating themselves from Spanish society, nor secular just 'to be accepted' . And of course, they stayed away from the insanity of subversive ideology or 'brotherhoods' that claim to be giving 'Dawah or defending Islam'( when such groups actually cause more harm than good). In a nutshell, they displayed a collective, proactive wisdom and application about what it meant to be on the middle path. I guess, this could be because they are, in a way, the direct inheritors of The Andalus. Just my experience and opinion, but I hope it answers your question.

I love how in the documentary, the community in Granada takes care of their non muslim neighbours. That's the true essence of how understand my Islam.

I have to agree with the comment. We have a long way to go yet. Once the excess luggage of the old countries has been extinguished and we develop into a UK Islam only then will we prosper

I can imagine how the moslem was slaughtered in andalusia..how the remnants of moslem practice in secrecy..same as other parts in the world..i pray to allah ..although i know i am a moslem full of sin..and i know my prayers was tiny..but i would still pray that musim all over the world to unite and become one..

I have frequented this small mosque for more than a decade on top of the hill within the Albaicin, Granada. About 15 minutes from downtown Granada to walk along the alleys of the residential areas, where the design and intricate decor of Islamic motives. Only a handful of Muslims patronizing at that time. mostly the Berbers of North Africa which operates small businesses in downtown Granada. Now it seems more local Spanish embracing Islam. Alhamdulillah... May Allah Blessed You All, our doa Spain will attain again the Islam that they lost during the time when Europe was in the dark. Nobody can deny the fact, Islam in Spain that enlightened Europe from the darkness of empty soul to an awakening. Love Andalusia.

The end is near Sunan Abi Dawud 4297 Narrated Thawban: The Prophet (ﷺ) said: The people will soon summon one another to attack you as people when eating invite others to share their dish. Someone asked: Will that be because of our small numbers at that time? He replied: No, you will be numerous at that time: but you will be scum and rubbish like that carried down by a torrent, and Allah will take fear of you from the breasts of your enemy and last enervation into your hearts. Someone asked: What is wahn (enervation). Messenger of Allah (ﷺ): He replied: Love of the world and dislike of death. حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الدِّمَشْقِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا بِشْرُ بْنُ بَكْرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ جَابِرٍ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو عَبْدِ السَّلاَمِ، عَنْ ثَوْبَانَ، قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم ‏"‏ يُوشِكُ الأُمَمُ أَنْ تَدَاعَى عَلَيْكُمْ كَمَا تَدَاعَى الأَكَلَةُ إِلَى قَصْعَتِهَا ‏"‏ ‏.‏ فَقَالَ قَائِلٌ وَمِنْ قِلَّةٍ نَحْنُ يَوْمَئِذٍ قَالَ ‏"‏ بَلْ أَنْتُمْ يَوْمَئِذٍ كَثِيرٌ وَلَكِنَّكُمْ غُثَاءٌ كَغُثَاءِ السَّيْلِ وَلَيَنْزِعَنَّ اللَّهُ مِنْ صُدُورِ عَدُوِّكُمُ الْمَهَابَةَ مِنْكُمْ وَلَيَقْذِفَنَّ اللَّهُ فِي قُلُوبِكُمُ الْوَهَنَ ‏"‏ ‏.‏ فَقَالَ قَائِلٌ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ وَمَا الْوَهَنُ قَالَ ‏"‏ حُبُّ الدُّنْيَا وَكَرَاهِيَةُ الْمَوْتِ ‏"‏ ‏.‏ Grade: Sahih (Al-Albani) صحيح (الألباني) حكم : Reference : Sunan Abi Dawud 4297 In-book reference : Book 39, Hadith 7 English translation : Book 38, Hadith 4284
