It was not just a residential building, but likely a Hamas C2 node. They often place them co-located within civilian infrastructure, like apartment buildings. They use the civilians as shield to deter Israel from striking them. It doesn't work.

For what I have seen in this video and the ones from 2 years ago, there is always a 'warning shot' that doesnt cause much damage to the building. A few minutes later, the real attack happens and the building collapses. That is why the cameras are always focusing on THOSE buildings: because they were warned first, then attacked

Generally tall buildings tend to be good places to put antennas. It looks to be one of the taller buildings in the area. Not sure there's much more to it then that.

The first explosion at 0:01 was a warning. Then there was just over 10 minutes of a delay (skipped over in this video -- that is why the illumination changed). Then there were multiple ground penetrating bombs striking at an oblique angle from every direction, and exploding under the building. The first one hit diagonally from the left. It can be seen when the time code in the video advances from 0'27" to 0'28". The silhouette of the first bomb is clearly visible on the left border of the image, slightly above the horizon. The second came from the front, another diagonally from the right, and so on. On the desktop, one can use "" keys to move by one frame at a time, then the bombs are especially easy to see as they approach the building from every direction.

The first shot was merely a warning, it was not supposed to destroy anything, but with just 4 more strikes they eviscerated the foundation like an entire demolition crew was working on it.
