Resident Evil Extinction: A Worthy Sequel?
Фильм және анимация
What’s the saying? Oh yeah…third times the charm and the Resident Evil series is no exception. For our third outing we’re here to explore the aftermath of the Apocalypse with Resident Evil:Extinction. This one is pretty divisive with the consensus being some people, like myself, loved this film while others felt this was the beginning of the downward slope of sequels of the franchise. Hear me out as to why I sing its praises. For one, it tells a cohesive story and gives us a side of Alice that we’ve been dying to see. We get more new characters that bring gravitas to the story as well as a fully fleshed out villain and it’s a lot of fun. Plus, its pays homage to The Road Warrior in the best way. So, let’s hit up the Sand Dunes of Vegas, stock up on firepower and beware of infected crows as we dive into Resident Evil: Extinction.

This was my favorite of the Resident Evil series. The shot of the Zombie Birds burning in the sky by Alice was awesome.
imma be real, this movie is STILL AWESOME! the desert vegas + dawn of the dead vibes with constant loss of hope at each turn is just too cool
Afterlife deserves it's own video it would be interesting to hear everyone's opinion on this is a worthy franchise
They killed my favorite character in this one, which made me sad. Carlos's actor did a great job, in my opinion. Sad to see him go, but he went out like a badass. Also shout out to Johnny Cage in this one.
Please do afterlife, and the remainder of series for that matter. The only ones that seriously disappointed me were 2 and the final chapter, and even with that I'd love to hear your take on the latter.
I read somewhere that had Jill been in this movie, she was supposed to have Carlos’s fate by sacrificing herself. I don’t know if this is true but I glad she wasn’t in this movie.
I love this film! From the cinematography, Charlie Clousers score and the awesome practical special effects plus the awesome fight choreography!
Thanks please continue covering the franchise!
RedLetterMedia's coverage of the ResEvil movies was my fav take so far 🙂 the endless laughter says it all
At least noone died making this one

This comment could've been worded so much better
It's honestly so refreshing to see a lot of positive comments for this beloved film series of mine and great review as always! 💛💯 I can't wait for my beloved Afterlife 🙊🖤✊🏻
The RE movies are some of my favorite guilty pleasures. The odd numbered films are literally the best in the franchise, and this has always been one of my favorite RE movies - if not my overall favorite in general. I definitely got hit in the feels losing Carlos and LJ - hell, even nurse Betty. The crow scene is unforgettable, can’t believe you didn’t mention it.
I would love to see you cover the rest of the series
Cool video! Yes, please cover Afterlife as well.
Great video. Please cover Afterlife
Love letter to day of the dead in RE form. Loved this movie
Great job! Great entry in the series.
If we don't get Afterlife, there will be justice as the battle for survival continues
Yes! Do a video about afterlife and all the rest of the resident evil movies
Every one of these movies would have been 1,000 times better if they were not named resident evil.

Yes first here 🥳 I absolutely love the Resident Evil franchise, I can honestly say that I find it pretty easy to watch these movies multiple times, I’d love it if it was possible for the franchise to return somehow, maybe a reboot 🤔

Resident evil extinction’s all right I like the first two and that’s it. Man is far as the reboot know if the last reboot was garbage I didn’t even have to even watch the movie it was pointless, so no leave it where they are.
Zombies = no water in Vegas? 🤷🤦

Fun fact: all the water in Vegas is shipped in. If a zombie apocalypse happened, no more water shipped in. The place was straight up desert and to desert it would return.
The second one felt cheap and nonsensical. This one was definitely a step up! Love Russell Mucahy’s work!
my biggest beef with Resident Evil film series is it doesn't have a main storyline. all the sequels are thinly interconnected plot-wise. each sequel just keeps going in circles killing different version of zombies (and clones), but the story doesn't progress much (if at all) that leads to a satisfying conclusion. we barely learn anything about Umbrella. the only two prominent Umbrella characters are Dr. Isaacs and Wesker, who they keep bringing back as clones (along with some other characters). at one point Isaacs seemed to be running Umbrella, then Wesker, then back to Isaacs, and so on. Wesker was the enemy, then became an ally, then the enemy again. also, they keep retconning stuff... the Red Queen, if I remember correctly, was said to be modeled after the lead scientist's daughter, then it became the CEO's daughter. then Alice was an Umbrella's operator who died in the second movie and brought back as a clone (one of many), but in the end she was actually a clone of the CEO's daughter... WTF⁉ 🤯🤯🤯 the first movie is definitely the best one in the film series. it captured the goosebumps horror that the game invokes, had a good plot and twists, had a nice balance of horror and action. the rest is just mindless fun action flicks.
The thing that always bothered me with these movies. Is that after the the 1st 2 movies, they could never settle on something. It was always a recon.
Yep, cover After Life pretty please 😊
Yes 💯 please cover Afterlife!
The digital airbrushing was an odd choice.

I love the Resident Evil movies. The action scenes are amazing and they definitely have rewatchability. The entire Umbrella Corporation aspect is really what does it for me. First time I saw Umbrella Prime, I was literally amazed. That being said, these movies are just not good. 🤷🏽♂️
The novelization explains Jill. Also gives a bunch of character development.
This movie is epic bro, everyone i know loves it
She is a Goddess. Worthy of marble. Time will be lost.
My favorite, resident evil film right behind afterlife
Yes, cover afterlife
I like all of the movies, they are not good but I like them anyway
Movie was okay... from 2nd to 3rd. Nothing added up. It was almost a complete new story.
Everyone trashes the whole franchise because of cheap writing and production values as seen in later Resident Evil movies. But the first three movies had a lot of good things going for them. I was thrilled to see them in the theater. I love how Extinction almost pays homage to Aliens when Alice gets off the elevator.
The Resident Evil movies are entertaining when I pretend they’re not Resident Evil movies, and even then they’re entertaining in the same way the Fast & Furious franchise is entertaining.
First was a masterpiece. They should have kept that style and kept exploring deeper. But nope, straight to the desert 🐪 with everyone all zombies. Who’s still funding umbrella if the whole planet is a wasteland?
Highlander 2?!? 'Nuff said 😅

It wasn't his fault, though He even tried to disown the movie
This wasn't a good movie, but it has the best look of all the RE movies.
Yes do afterlife 😊🤘
By the halfway point of the 2nd film the whole franchise nose dives for me. I couldn't get through any of them after that.
Please cover afterlife
Meh. Jill was the worst character anyway lol Keep up the good work; this is the one channel I check every day!

Don't care what so-called critics said I loved all Resident Evil movies
Cover all the resident evils
Imagine if one day, there was a good resident evil show or movie. Imagine if the director or show runner knew what a video game was.
The last good one in the series. 👍
This is when it went off the rails and never came back.
The movie was OK. I'm reallly surprised nobody has pointed out (even in the video) how this movie was a blatant act of plagiarism, lifting many scenes directly from George Romero's original Day of the Dead ( both the finished product and original Day of the Dead screenplay)
We'll have to agree to disagree.
Critics are critics because they don't have the talent to make the arts, just piss all over it.
TRIVIA NOTE : Paul W. S. Anderson is married to star Milla Jovovich.

Its, not it’s
These movies are just action movies with characters created by resident evil.
Resident evil films and worthy in the same sentence 😂
Oh so that's why extinction was so awful Anderson got the guy who did one of the worst Highlander movies

He also did the original 😄
Its not original though. Uts the same plot as Day of the Dead. With them trying the domestication of zombies.
Anyone that like any of these movies, any of these…… if you defend this movie…… well, you know what you are.
None of these movies are worth anything. But I get it JoBlo, it's hard to find worthy topics on a daily basis.
NAH, this was the downhill. 1st was okay, 2nd the best of the franchise despite being worse story-wise, and this 3rd try was back to okay. then it was a nose dove from then on.
Russell Mulcahy was the most solid director of this awful franchise
Until “The Final Chapter” came along, this was my least favorite due to the awkward action scenes and crummy music score. The whole movie just felt cheap.
Definitely the best beginning and ending but worst middle of the series.
Yeah... No xD. This movie still sucks and time certainly hasn't been kind to it either xD
This movie was trash… apocalypse and after life are the best sequels.
I haven't listened to critic reviews since The Thing was panned by Siskel&Ebert in the early 80s, yeah I'm old..
Resident evil and resident evil apocalypse are my favorite so extinction was disappointing to me and where I lost interest in the series
