I appreciate the game before it's out. I appreciate that they've stepped away from the unkillable shoot em up 3rd person action games that's been regurgitated out over the years. this game just might actually give me some scares. Dont get me started on the vr playability ...when I played a mere 5 minutes of the kitchen demo - I was absolutely blown away.

repetitive if they did something like RE 4,5,6. Capcom said they were "going back to the roots" of Resident Evil, so every fan hyped because we thought they were doing something like RE 1,2,3. The remasters sold well, so we thought we'd see the classic RE with some improvements, but no, Capcom gave us that garbage, like all their latest games.

I don't care if people say that this Resident Evil game "is not Resident Evil, it's just like Outlast or Amnesia." Ha, just because it goes to 1st person doesn't make it just like those other horror games. There's monsters to kill, an arsenal of weapons, boss battles, exploration, puzzles and riddles. This is the closest Resident Evil has EVER been to it's original few back in the late 90s, and even Capcom said the same. You know how RE4 changed to 3rd person and had more action than the PS1 Resident Evils? RE4 turned out to be one of, if not the best game in the series, and I think RE7 is going to have the same outcome.

To be honest, I enjoyed 5 and 6, to me they were fun games, but they weren't good Resident Evil games. I don't mind if people don't like them or if they don't like the style of RE7, I'm all for people having their opinion, of course. It annoys me when others just completely bash on the game, but yeah you're right, I guess hating on stuff is the thing people do nowadays lol.

Guts thats a perfectly reasonable opinion to have on the matter but i think what op was talking about was the kinds of people who say shit like "this is garbage its nothing like resident evil" without doing any research and when someone confronts them about it with evidence on the contrary, like what op was saying about puzzle solving and killable enemies and so on they just say shit like "other games have those features so it doesn't matter" and have clearly already decided that the game sucks purely based on the 1st person perspective. Personally I'm super excited for the game but its perfectly fine if others aren't i just like to know why is all so you're alright in my book lol

PikaLink91 2, 4, 6, two movies, and operation raccoon city. That's a lot. Also there are a few returning characters in 7 that will make an appearance. I'm glad they chose to have a new main character who doesn't have survival skills. Leon, Chris, Jill, or Claire would have no problem going against whatever is in this mansion.

it's not the walking I'm talking about. Standing up, turning around, getting hit and flung to the ground, wait for the animations to complete as you stand up, enemies swinging, getting thrown around. The animations just seem slow. The pace just looks slow imo. Might be a fun game though. Speaking of cinematic effect, haven't we all been burned enough by "cinematic effect" only to pick up the game and none of the shit is actually in the game?

I'm no longer getting this game. Sounds too damn scary.

Well what are the "roots" of Resident Evil really? fixed camera angles pre rendered backgrounds? or is it the tank controls? or the cheesy acting/script? or is it the rideculous keys and locks? People throw the term going back to the "roots of the series" and it means whatever they want it to mean. Some people want another RE4, some people want another RE1 or whatever else. Capcom's gonna disappoint no matter what they do.

Legend says one day Resident Evil Survivor and Resident Evil Dead aim will have a baby and thus Resident evil 7 was born.

I can't wait for this!! some ppl are triggered because they all complain "Too much like outlast" or "Too much like Amnesia" or "Wheres Chris, Jill, ADA, Leon or any other main Resident Evil Characters?" Look just because it's in first person, dont think "Outlast, Amnesia" or those games. when Capcom said "classic horror roots" they mean classic jumpscare a around every corner to be on high alert classic like the good old horror when you actually get surprised jumpscare. best way getting tht?? first person view of course and here's why: 1) u can't expect a jumpscare if u can't see it directly. meaning u can be surprised in many ways from behind or side incoming creatures and villians. 2) VR for first person fits better this way. the fact tht VR is in this, of course first person is a logical way of getting more jumpscare from the creatures. 3) classic horror style is most first person. compare many great games, even fan made, first person vs third person for most jumpscare first person wins in many account do to the player in first person not know which angle, besides face view, where the scare will approach u. With this game giving a story of the family and the inflected meat made monsters, first person view fit for best ways of being scared and being. the game is confirmed taking place years after RE6 (don't need a reminder of tht awful game) so of course we don't play as the main characters in this as the series progressed. this is a sequel not a prequel and the other characters story on some ends have been done and over so we might see them as a helper character or not but we'll see some Easter eggs as many RE games have character reference in them.

I've been beyond excited for this game ever since the first demo was released and I'm still just as excited to play the final product. I'm excited that this game is a fresh view on the horror aspect of a game that I grew up with and loved. Sure, Capcom isn't completely "going back to their roots" with Resident Evil 7, but they are keeping their promise of giving us a horror game. All I can really say is that January 24th just can't arrive fast enough!

Going back to its roots? Lol more like just going with what the trend is now in Horror games since Amnesia made the genre popular again. It's just another helpless first-person horror game they just attached the name Resident Evil to. This couldn't be any farther than how RE originally was.

japhygato a KZreadr made a stream of himself playing the game. it was scary as hell, I really didn't expect all the features it had. Just shows an example of the quote "Don't Judge A Book By It's Cover" or in this game .

Been a fan of the franchise since my dad first purchased it on the sega saturn back in 1996. Played every game except 6, and havent really found the series entertaining simce RE4. Im cautiously optimistic about this. A lot of people are making comments about this being a rip off of PT and amnesia. I dont see why thats bad. Those were well received projects. I dont understand why RE cant take inspiration from what works. Hell, its not like modern gaming wasnt influenced by RE4s over the thoulder camera mechanic. Then you have the other camp talkong about how this isnt rwally resident evil. Well, to be fair resident evil stopped being RE after code veronica. not even RE4 captured the spirit of survival horror. Thats why leon could dodge lasers and use CQC and a knife, talking over a codex like he was solid snake (which begs the question, why people got all bent out of shape over chris punching a boulder, but not over leon having a grappling hool like batman). At least with this, we'll be playing as someone vulnerable again. Im so damn tired of playing as a governemnt trained, one-line dropping badass. Bottom line, I say give it a shot...

Joseph Marin A I dont think I ever said people didnt complain about RE4 in my comment, dont know if thats what you took from it. But the fact is people vote with there wallets. RE4 is top 10 all time for sure, but you very easily could have removed any mention of umbrella, removed all references of the history, and introduced a new character as the main protagonist. It was such a departure, for all intents and purposes, it wasnt even a horror game Couple that with the fact that it was a lot of peoples first entry into the franchise, and you have a new crop of people with the perception that this (read: RE4) is how the franchise always was; when they possibly couldnt be further from the truth.

I so can't wait til this comes out. I hope they'll have a bundle deal with psvr. just hope I don't pussy out while I'm playing lol

Well I hope you experienced the game as of now. For me, I am actually too scared to play horror games because of me getting spooked and getting a heart attack. The reason I got it was just because I want to get over my fears of horror. Yes, when jumpscares appear in the game, I can scream like a little bitch or just flip over my chair and hit my head. But I don't quit the game because of the horror. You somehow get used to it and embrace the horror aspect.

Hmm because of resident evil 1 and 0 remake i actually want to play those games, cuz I wasn't even born when those games came out, i have played all resident evils but the older ones so im just waiting for the remakes so i can enjoy those games as well and get all out of the story and i did enjoy resident evil 6 but it had its flaws.

Agent 47 OK people! The Chicago Typewriter is a special weapon in RE4 only after you beat the game and pay 1 million to the merchant. It is there strictly for replay value. It is incredibly fun to mow down bad guys with an infinite weapon. Everyone needs to relax. Of course there wouldn't be a weapon like that in RE7. But why not as an unlockable after the game is completed? IT JUST SOUNDED FUCKING COOL! Godamn!

but the originals had infinite ammo. If you beat the first one in under 2 hours i believe you can get the rocket launcher. And so did 2 if you went into the controller settings

CrummyGamer2.0 Yep, I did. I still have it installed in my console, and the only thing that shines is the illumination. The textures make RE5 look better to be fair.

*Resident Evil* Was Great because it introduced you into a world of survival horror with an amazing story, and did all the little things that scared you creepy music, camera angles not knowing what was behind a corner, footsteps, Files. Going up and down the steps slowly. This game is trash I miss the The Classic Resident Evil.

darkMAXIS227 The only difference is that RE used to be unique. No other game of the time except Silent Hill had that kind of Camera Angles. Now it is a FPS and looks like everything else. If it didn't have the RE name, people would confuse it with another game like Amnesia or Outlast.

Hopefully the game has a great soundtrack. That was one of the things about the old Resident Evil games that made them so good and immersive. That ominous music as you're walking through the streets of Raccoon City or the corridors of the Police Department.

Reminds me of AHS Roanoke, I got an early copy excited to start

Ewerton Almeida i couldn't agree more i played alien isolation... anyway what i meant is that it's just not a resident evil... people say it's goes back to origins nooo that's a lie ... they focused on horror too much forgeting the fight ... and i don't remember lots of psychos in resident evil ... i don't remember creepy kinda of ghosty things .... it was a zombie apocalypse fear and that was in the 6 just fine ... yes lots of action altho i can't say i hate i actually loved it ... cuz the kinda of walk and stand still to shoot like RE4 RE5 is just old and not that satisfing anymore ....

Ewerton Almeida you are an idiot ... i loved RE6 zombies so many types depending on people's DNA wich made the fight more fun and more diverse... it made more sense than the geant flies in RE4 ... and honestly RE6 felt more like a zombie game than this ... it was a real zombie apocalypse... cities full of zombies you never feel safe .... i loved leon campaign specially the cemetery... what do you make of this resident evil 7 ?! trapped in farm house ?! this isn't one of those cheap budget horror movie that focuse on 2 girl half naked while getting tortured and killed by freaks rather than the true horror ... resident evil 6 felt like a survival horror game ... lots of zombies diffrent types the world coming to an end ... not 4 psychos in farm house forcing you to eat shit while you can't escape because of the old broken window or the wooden thine door -_- ... Re4 great game. ..fighting a whole village not 4 psychos ... John McT my god you are so dumb. what happens in resi1? you are locked in a house in the woods!! and you are saying that this is lame? Resident evil 6 was a completly mess. it is top gear, acesso combat, uncharted, GEARS OF war, call of duty, etc everything BUT Resident evil.

I like how one of the facts is that you can save. It's a triple A title game and you can save? WOAH

I'm willing to bet that the person calling you and giving you hints is Ada... It would make sense with how she has always been in the series, showing up at random times and intervening with the main characters... that would be awesome

For some weird reason I am not that excited at all for RE7 especially after playing the demo. I hope the final game will prove me wrong.

I feel you bro! They fucked this game(my hypothesis is based on trailers and the demo). I hope to be wrong. good things: Scary, good amount of action, graphics. bad things: -Playing as 1st person, LIKE WTF.- Nothing to do with the story, It feels like the movie "wrong turn". -No mission. Every RE has a mission and a good and heavy one. This one mission seems to be to escape from the house, period. Every resident evil has a mission like saving a girl, helping a city, discover and stoping biochemical weapons, but this apparently is to escape from this sick ass family house. This is a decent game but is a really bad RE game!

Will I be able to enjoy this game if I haven't finished resident evil 1,2,3,4,5,6 and resident evil revelations 1,2?

MsLia32 it'll probably be difficult because you're blasting through zombies and other monsters in RE 5 & 6 and RE 7 is definitely taking a step in another direction with scarce ammunition and having to choose whether to retaliate or retreat. maybe you'll be able to enjoy the game but it's probably gonna be a LOT harder than past titles in the series

When does this come out?

Ever notice how the camera angles changed every 3 resident evil games? 1, 2, and 3 had those cameras in certain spots, 4, 5, and 6 had camera angles that follow behind you, and now this, it's literally inside their eyes.

I'm not a fan of this style of game. Will likely pass on it. Cant stand the games like outlast or amnesia.

Is not playing with VR going to affect my gameplay in anyway? I don't own a Playstation VR Headset and i'm worried the experience will be greatly weakened by not playing in VR. Also even if I did have a psvr I only have an Xbox One S will the experience be weakened because I have an Xbox One S and not a Playstation Pro.

I love that RE is going back to its horror roots. Especially with the concept of weapons being scarce.

60fps on any platform pick? my ps4 and Xbox one barely clock in at 30 unless they're exclusive titles because developers have more time and resource for exclusives that's why exclusives run so smoothly

? I feel like you can't save "whenever you want." If that was the case you would be able to bring up the menu and save at anytime. You have to actually go and find the cassette players to save i''m pretty sure.

Did you seriously just call it fire? Are you seriously acting like that doesn't sound stupid? And no, Outlast was fucking garbage. Being helpless does not make a game a good Horror game. No one on this Earth is stupid enough to die without a fight. Alien Isolation did far better by actually allowing you to get yourself out of a situation with various tools. You couldn't kill the Alien, but you could set that fucker ablaze and make him work for that kill.

I agree with MagnaSonic, being helpless made these games all the same, just hiding in lockers all the time, there are so many horror games where you hide in fucking lockers and ai is retarded enough not to check (game mechanics am i right?) and the fact that you are helpless just adds to boredom, you have to keep dancing around from cover to cover if the enemy is in the same room and just adds the same thing that shitty stealth games do, waiting and waiting, allso people are not scared and begging for their life if they meet a 1hit kill enemy, they just don't want to fucking go trough the last checkpoint again because horror games today are slow and shit.
