My mom bought us this game when it first came out. She thought it would be a 2-player game for the whole family and was shocked they would allow gore on a video game(we didn't play RE1 until afterwards). The part when the crows crashed through the window scared me the most. Me and my mom played the game together in the dark! This is why I have such fond memories of this game! It hurts to know that the old days are gone forever but I can move on from the past knowing that this game won't be forgotten and make new memories for myself in the future.

Who wants to pay 60-80 bucks on a game that they could essentially run through in no time because they know where everything is?

How much did they change? Edit: I'm now at the part where Claire first enters the bar. So far only some aspects have been changed, such as gas station in the remake instead of bar, and Claire exploring a little more in the remake than here. No major story changes yet however

14 years later and this game still scares the shit out of me. I remember the interrogation room part where the licker bursts through the one way glass actually made me swear out loud. lol I remember looking around to see if anyone heard me. Good times.

Though, no other police officer in the city or station wears the same uniform as Leon even in the remake.

I don't know why, but I always found those Claire/Sherry moments heartwarming and adorable. Just the only reasons why I love Claire Redfield as a character.

Such memories from this game. When this game came out I was barely a teenager, and all my friends at school were talking about how good this game was. I finally saved some money and my Dad took me to the local video game store to get it, the clerk knew what I was looking for instantly and they only had a few copies left… I took the game home, popped it in, and immediately died in the opening car crash scene. My Dad and I were grossed out and I decided to return the game and get a different game. Dissatisfied with my decision I went back to the store, picked up a used copy, which was likely mine I originally purchased, because only a fool would return it. I got the hang of the game and I played it over and over again… I remember getting lost for hours trying to figure out where I was supposed to go. I even had a guidebook to the game, and every moment of this game was intense and horrifying. They just don’t make games like this anymore. Im a musician now, and I firmly believe that this game solidified my interest ambient sounds and textures. Today Im at work listening to just the audio, because it is that good of a game. True masterpiece.

Must've been so fun enjoying this kind of hype back in the day. I was born in 1999 and I got to play this game in 2009 when I was still a kid and nobody would get me bc of how much of a fan I was of RE. It's so weird that even I get to feel the nostalgia this game gave to 90s kids like you, as if the whole atmosphere of the game materialized in real life.

No matter how many time I look at this I don't get tired of it I really love this part.

I am filled with paranoia watching this. Years ago, when my uncle played this, he said you would always be imagining things or thinking you heard things. He wasn't wrong. Now I can understand what he meant by that. Great playthrough.

Claire A/Leon B is considered the most canon n due to the major events that happen in that scenario, such as Sherry's infection, and Ada being "killed" by the T-00. Certain elements of this scenario are also implemented into the Memories of a Lost City stage of The Darkside Chronicles, such as Ada's apparent death by the Tyrant, and the fight against the mutated Birkin on the train.

I don't think I put any spoilers, the annotations are there to help people navigate through the video more easily but you can disable them and choose not to have them appear on the bottom of the video page.

Oh yeah the cannon playthrough was with Leon being chased by Tyrant (he has to kill it in the end by the train station) and Claire has to kill Berkin on her way down to the lab and finish him off during the elevator. Hence cannon because Claire stayed with Sheri and she was stalked by her father. Leon being in involved with Ada playing the side that has him being hunted by Tyrant.

I played this one in the PS3.

Yeah she's got a fanbase that's for sure.

One of the best games that will ever exist. I would pay lots of money for a decent remake of this. Preserving all the camera angles and that fixed camera style but overhauling the textures, models and lighting with today's capable hardware. I wish Capcom would entertain this style again, you just don't get the same feeling from being able to free roam with your camera locked on the character. This has a much more genuine feel to it. The experience as a whole is so much more fulfilling.

Vinyl I just finished the remake yesterday, I was so excited to play I managed to keep away from all the info released so it’d be a better experience. I enjoyed the game but it was just like playing the evil within or similar. I’m in absolute agreement with your statement about textures, fixed cam angles and all. I enjoyed the remake, but the nostalgia wasn’t there. Something about the characters item selection screen, fixed angles, b-g music. Unfortunately I don’t think capcom are sticking to all the original aspects which made it such a good game. For me the remake of re1 was about as good as it’ll ever get. I first played re2 in 98, 20+ years later with all the gaming tech improvements and they still can’t top it.

If you choose to play Claire's B scenario you'll enter through the back on the police station, you won't go to Kendo's gunshop, you'll have to fight an optional boss called the Tyrant along the game, the location of certain items will change and so on.

"I'll keep a close eye on things." *dies*

This game brings back memories. I wish Capcom would make a true remake of this and 3. Just like they did with RE1 on the GameCube.

Man watching this brings back memories, I played this when I got a PlayStation for my 6th birthday, never beat it. Then I let my older brother play, I never saw him jump before, and that was when the zombies' hands come out of the wall. But a few months ago I actually beat one part of it.

The length of this video is amazing. Good work man, you play like a pro'. I enjoyed every last minute.

That's because a lot of people grew up with this game and therefore they relieve a bit of their childhood by watching it, if you see the comments you'll notice how many people comment on how they were first introduced to RE, people who are married, fathers, mothers, uncles, aunts, even grandparents. RE2 marked an era and a lot of people that's why I made a walkthrough for it.

This game will always remain a masterpiece 👍

for me, trying to run past zombies is like hitting every red light in the city lol

This is absolutely fantastic and a different way of doing lets play's. The recording quality is great, there is no annoying commentary just an honest appreciation of the game. Im watching this because I can't play these games and its great to just experience the game!

And why were the acid rounds in the torture cellar? Because Irons likely used the sulfuric acid to torture his victims and/or destroy the bodies to eliminate evidence!

Resident Evil 2 is one of my favorite old school games that could give you chills just with the spooky music effects. I can't believe we'rein 2019 now and this game is about 20 years old. It never feels that way when you grow up with something until you look at the copyright date on the back of the game disc case. I was terrified to pieces, I even had nightmares, because I was about 7 when the first game came out and my stepdad was certain I was ready for it at that age. Hope you don't mind me asking, what brand capture card did you use for this game? Been shopping around for one myself and I really like the quality of your video for this playthrough.

Id bet the number of views on this gem of a game will rocket when the remake comes out. Its been so long since i have played it omg used to play it to a point of insanity. Really looking forward to seeing the new Claire model and if they give her a different script. Who will be doing her voice? God im excited about this. It's so cool watching this after the remake came out, I haven't played this since I was a kid so it's awesome to see this again

Was running around every room i could find for near 2hrs and couldnt find a single way progress, my patience had hit its limit. Dispite clicking everywhere in that office with the nade launcher i couldnt trigger chris's diary in plain sight but managed to pickup handgun ammo out of sight behind the main desk, what a janky pain. Cheers for the walkthrough

Trying for A rank, your run really helped me make some notes on what's essential and what's not. If I can get through it, I'm going to look at your Leon B for what's next, so here's hoping. Edit: Got it in two tries, decided to save before going down the train elevator, which ended up being a smart move because I got hit by an insta-kill move at the very end. Got a time of 1:44:58, and I'm off to take notes for the Leon B run.

Memories. I managed to get past Claire A but was scared to make it past B cause Tyrant 103 scared the hell out of me 😱😱😱and the part when that surviving cop turns into a zombie also was scary for me too. Bottom line..this game scared the hell out of me

the zombies in RE2 were much more scary and made more sinister sounds than those in RE3. Also the music was much more gloomy,and intimidating
