Thank you so much for this easy to follow video. I installed new HP inkjets a few days ago, and after that my printer wouldn't print color. I followed all the instructions HP posted over and over. I finally got the color to print, but then the black wouldn't print, so I was going to send my printer to Square Trade for repair, but wanted to erase my info from the printer. When I did your semi-reset and printed the alignment page, everything was fixed!

Thank you for this! For some reason, HP considers this confidential information. Freaking ridiculous when it locks the wireless settings on the first use. I should not have to contact HP support when I change my WiFi settings.

Thank you for this. These steps also were the same for my HP OfficeJet 4650. Unfortunately, it still won't pick up my network, so I'm at a loss (aside from buying a cable to directly connect to my router).

When I did it, the WiFi connection worked for like couple of minutes and then disconnected again and stucked on "searching for wireless routers"

Hello---WILL This work on a OJ 6830 That gives me the "Paper Jam" error ????....because there is NO Paper jam, and i really like that printer but Cant Use it

I have a question and hopefully you can help. HP constantly updates the firmware with locks in them to prevent aftermarket cartridges or refilled cart. NOW, you did a SEMI-RESET" what if I do the FULL RESET will the printer go back to the first day ONE when someone bought it with the old firmware or does the new/updated firmware stay? The reason I sell 954xl (952xl) and constantly the chips stop working bec HP updated again. Then I need to change the chips with updates chips and it's a constant battle. Would FULL RESET eliminate this problem? (as long as the customer turned OFF the auto update?)

Have 6958 hp and home light won't come on to clean head, align etc. pushing ? It comes on an when pushed ? Pops on again. Got quick error message then it disappeared but beliebe it said 651 circuit failure. Not sure of number it flashed so quick. All colors print except black. Cleaned heads thoroughly too easy fix or scrap

Hi, does this method reset ink levels of my printer cartridge, which I refilled on my own? Mine is saying certain colors ran out, and wont print those colors even though I refilled them.

Hi. I'm not sure, but I do not think you can reset ink levels. On HP printers most refilled ink cartridges will show low or empty ink cartridges, but may still continue printing.

I could use some advice... my 6978 all-in-one gives me a simple "Printhead Problem" error without any error code whenever it is turned on. I have no access to any menu, as the screen just sits at the error message. I've cleaned everything thoroughly without any change. I'm stuck !!!

I have this printer. Been using it a couple years and like it. But today I replaced the Black ink cartridge with an OEM 902XL and keep getting "Remove and reinstall indicated cartridge" error. And I know it's installed right - not rocket science - and I've cleaned the contacts and chip with distilled water. Turned off & unplugged the printer for 1-2 3 minutes. This is happening with 2 different brand new cartridges purchased from Amazon. HP Utility says they are HP cartridges. What can I do to override this? thx!!!

If you put your old one in will it give you same error? And also, the HP 902 and 920 ink cartridges are exactly same construction but 920 will not work in your printer. Can you make sure you have 902 ink, not 920.

303 Electronics my printer is the OJ 9678. The 902xL is the correct one. And, after I posted I did put the old one back and it loaded just fine. The new cartridges are defective. Already arranged a return/replace through Amazon.

@@jeffellis6544 Yep. That happens too. I often get printers that have been returned to store or taken to Goodwill just because cartridges were defective. I'm glad you spotted that. Have a wonderful day. After continue setup my screen returned to " Cartridge cannot be used until printer is enrolled in HP Instant Ink". HELP!!

I just installed the new instant ink that we got in the mail today, but it's not printing color. I did printer maintenance, clean printhead several times but still not printing color only black.

Check wire connection at the screen and at the main board. It may have come loose,

Clears the printer main board, resets to factory standard settings. May help clear some errors the printer is showing.

So what is the reason you want to do that? You do not explain it.

I'm sorry I left that out. The reason can be many things. Sometimes a printer may be acting weird, slow, connectivity issues, etc.
