Resentment In Relationships

Ever had two (or more) totally contradicting feelings about someone? More than one emotion can exist at the same time-and that’s ok! Confront the hard feelings instead of ignoring them. Dr. Dharius is here to talk about how to stop avoiding negative emotions, getting to the root of resentment, and bettering your relationships!

Thank you Pastor Dharius Daniels for this powerful lesson. I am a root chaser. I've come to fully understand that if there's no toxic roots there will be no toxic fruits. By acknowledging and destroying the roots that defiles us, we purify ourselves. This lesson has definitely confirmed my beliefs in why some offenses take place, are ongoing, resolving them and setting healthy boundaries. Again I THANK YOU! and God bless YOU 🙌🏽!!!î

We cannot change people, but we can set boundaries to protect ourselves. But what about husband and wife, parents and children? Can we still have good relationships by setting bounfaries by not talking about issues anymore? With friends is easy. If friends do not respect our boundaries, then stay away from them. But with parents, children, husband and wife, it is hard when others do not change. They have to talk things out. If there is continuation, we have to ignore the issues ?

Pastor D…thank you sooooo much for speaking about this! As a Certified Relationship Coach and Marriage & Family Therapy Professional and as a wife of “41” years to the same man; I experienced this at a level that is unimaginable! I left college my senior year as a Pre-Med major and married a “broke Private” in the U.S. Army (like a fool)😂 but he later made me proud after retiring as a Senior Officer! However, for years I was angry and resentful toward my husband because he was not being the husband that he needed to be or that I THOUGHT he would be! God really had to heal my heart concerning this and I begin to love my husband unconditionally and tried to see him as God sees him. This made all the difference in our marriage!

Hi Darius, Thank you for your teaching on this. I suffered a lot in my childhood with resentment towards my father, because I felt controlled and could not be me comfortably. It was good you mentioned keys of resentment. A new neighbour's approach has not been respectful either, so I am grateful for you identifying those keys of resentment. Excellent point about God who does not control His creation and respects our freedom to choose. What a lovely heavenly Father we have who allows us to be where were at, without forcing the issue of controlling our choices.....Thanks for your number in my previous reply to your Mara message, I think it would be better to possibly communicate by email as I live abroad.

Awesome message. It took me many years to realize I felt this way about many things because of the church I grew up in. They had their favorites and if you weren't a favorite you were overlooked no matter what skill or talent you could contribute - even if it was brought to their attention. And if at any time I felt that from anyone I was around I would just end relationships or even leave a ministry. I had to really talk to God about it and ask him to help me be still and understand why I was reacting that way. Feeling resentment because I felt I had been treated with contempt and being afraid that if I stayed, it would continue. This message helped clarify that revelation even more. Thanks Pastor Dharius.
