What does a Warhammer 40k Stompa need more of? Dakka...
So here we are, taking a really cool idea from an old video and finally making it a reality. A massive thank you to Dave P. for providing extra info about the original models on display, and Gear Guts Mek Shop for helping me figure out this insane project!

I love how both Stompas look side by side, with one yellow with red accent with a grabby arm coming out of his belly, like he's ready to collect all the scrap on the battlefield, and the other red with yellow accent, with this massive amount of guns shoved in it, ready to make more scrap. A true Temple to Gorkamork
I dunno why, but the ork in the crows nest really does it for me. It just immediately pulls this narrative in my mind of the little guy calling out targets to the gun crews... the giant stompa laboriously turning, before unleashing an entirely unreasonable amount of firepower downstream. Its a great touch, and putting those models up there and along the scaffolding really gives scale to the whole thing.

it's saying something like "I see a humie. I don't want to."
I think it would have been really funny to stick an ork arm with a shoota out from the belly like one of the orks got excited and stuck it through the wall of guns so he could do some blasting of his own!

Lol, it it just needed a little help.
The piece of receipt roller you added to the project turned out bad ass. I like that it looks like they found and scavenged a few dirty pieces of the original Stompa. I really liked this one.
Really enjoyed this. I also felt originally disappointed you didn't do the original stompa with Dakka crammed in the middle. Glad you revisited the concept. That video inspired me to get back into the hobby though. I bought a cheap vindicator someone had attempted to convert into a battlewagon using far too much superglue and half covered in house paint. I cleaned everything off (mostly, still need to do a final clean) and combined it with a base battlewagon I had that was missing the Ard case and killcanon upgrades. The resulting kit-bash resulted in a front that vaguely resembles a vindicator, with front tracks flipped over and exhausts removed, flipped and attached to one side, the canon sits above the front square amor plates which rest almost perfectly over the battlewagons grill, which I had to separate and reposition (most of the original battlewagon is still there, but had to be separated and moved). Naturally I added sharp pointy bits to those armor plates, turning them into teef. I used remaining armor and plasticard to create an Ard case which I can slot in and out at the back like the official ones. My biggest frustration at the moment is I'm in this weird situation where I'm vaguely uncertain as to whether it's finished or not. Or whether I need to start adding a few final panels, do my rivets and a final clean and start painting. It's hard to know when a custom piece is finished. It's a little frustrating.

ork stuff exists in this superposition of both its done and it still needs more. when you think about it

That sounds like a great project, and welcome back! Way to dive in head first too :) It’s always super hard to know when it’s “done” especially for ork stuff. Even doing this stomps I was questioning myself up until the end on whether or not to add more stuff, but at the end of the day I could sit back and say, yeah, that looks sweet, and that has always been a good indicator for me to just stop and appreciate what a model is. And honestly, you can always go back even after it’s painted to add more stuff :)
Extremely happy you revisited the concept! While the original rescue looked gorgeous, it's joyous seeing the spirit of our neon lord rising once more! I think you did a masterful job revisiting it. This job really strikes me as a proper homage to the original.

@@eBayMiniatureRescues Funny how it works out, eh? Speaking of, I'm glad you included that bit about how long and expensive this build was. I think it's easy for us viewers to sometimes lose perspective on how intensive these rescues can be. So, especially on a video related to such a, uh, "contentious" build, it's good to be reminded that this is a genuine investment on your part - both in time and money; and you aren't making these decisions willy-nilly. Wholly unrelated to that: I really liked the spears. Not only practical for the build's structural integrity, but they make nice stabba sticks. Extra useful for keeping shiny boyz away from the big shootas!

Amazing work Casey. I like how the two Stompas look similar enough that they look like they belong in the same game and army, but different enough to sell the crazy, chaotic nature of the Orks. It's a tough balancing act but done perfectly here!
plastic card is a MUST when assembling any Ork vehicle. Lets you cover up accidents, add extra armour to areas that need it and even create some custom little areas like enclosed cabs or gun housing. Just make sure to rough up the edges with your hobby knife and add rivets using 1mm plastic rod.
Thank you, Casey. Truly a noble spirit embiggens the smallest man.

I primed & painted an imperial knight with a citadel basic brush recently as it's all I had on hand. That one task took me hooooours and gave me a much better understanding of how much work goes into bigger models like this. Amazing work man
15:44 "yeah this is pretty sick" also great paintjob, one of your best yet!
I really like that you added the little segment from the salvaged guns! That's really sweet!
"Ah, yes, Kay-Cee. Itz a gud start; but I fink you is holding back." said Big Nutz da Mekkboy, "Wot you need iz moar dakka."
When you tell dem Mek Boyz “we moar dakka to krump gitz”
I was disappointed that the yellow one did not have a belly gun. But I am glad to see this one has 20, and its not "to orky!" Love the little metal chunk ganging around. I really enjoyed the story behind L.I.M.E. Great vid!
I so enjoyed watching these two stompa videos, seeing them both together at the end was fantastic! Keep up the amazing stuff, it's why I keep coming back despite not having made or painted a mini in a few years!
All I can say is: Moar Dakka! >:)
These monsters are awesome models and the creativity that went into making the both of them work is also pretty awesome. Good work, Casey! I have my first really big model in my collection sitting on my drawer unit next to my table, and when I eventually get into that one, I'm keen to see how it works (Reaper Bones Cthulhu).
Out of all the communities I'm apart of Table Top gaming is the top most welcoming one and really it's nice that everyone listen to every one and help each other out at their own pace.
I personally love all Orky conversions and love seeing others wither their creative eyes, it all inspires me to make even cooler looking Orks
Amazing! I'll join my voice in the chorus of saying that while I liked the first video, I'm so happy that you went back and revisited the idea!
As awesome as that stompa is, your use of different techniques for color and effect is probably the most valuable part of the video!
This is a lovely continuation of the original kitbash! If you ever make a 3rd, you HAVE to make it mostly lime green as a final reference to the OG. Make it a story of 3 Stompahs, built for grabbing maximum dakka off of the battfield.
Awesome, so happy you came back and did this justice. The two of them next to each other feel like a true tribute to Gork and Mork and they really highlight each other when standing side by side like that.
Moar Dakka!! Always! MOAR! DAKKA!
That stompa is so delightfully absurd. Excellent work cramming the guns in there!
very cool, great hommage to the original an improvement on the first, just all round excellent
Well done! I don't understand why this doesn't have a billion views! This is probably my favourite build video of the last few months!
Tip for ya man. After years of experimenting with stripping plastic I actually found 1 thing that works and works well but it is ONLY this 1 product. Cutex Acetone Free. Its a browny orange colour, leave it in for half an hour, pull it out then scrub off the paint with an tooth brush ((one thats quite chunky and thick would help more)). This is how I resurrected all my original 2nd ed minatures from when I first started :) For metal though you need celulose thinners ((car paint stripper)).
This was a blast to watch the first time round and you just blew it out the park with this second one, thanks for letting us join the adventure. Cant wa6to what next you spoil us with.
Yea I am so glad you revisited this, I felt you did the original model a grave injustice not working with the original design to turn it into something highly workable. It was less of a rescue and more of a refurbishment. I'm glad you're finally righting this wrong.
"I didn't want it to look thrown together." LOL, Da boys jus trow tagatha nd da jus werk Great vid. Love the love for the dakka.

This is where getting models of MLRS and artillery pieces and anything with tons of missiles (maybe even a Titan II or Minuteman model) would come in handy for just adding massive amount of ordinance all over it. Orks really offer up the chance for kit bashing at it's best. (Chaos on the other hand is best for sculptors that want to make the sickest demons ever)

Freakin loved this Casey, thanks!
spilling guts of guns was is and was just a great idea for a stompa. okay so I do have some critique, mainly the symmetry in the belly really doesn't look very orky. you gotta add the wonk factor and you played it safer than you could have, just stacking things in there neatly
As all the guns fire and the recoil sends the Stompa past escape-velocity and into the next galaxy.
Really cool work! And, thank you for sharing the process and cost. Much appreciated.

This thing is incredible. Best video yet IMO
I dont even play the 40k board game and I loved this.
Might sound strange but I think while this is great work and clearly a technically superior model there's a certain magic and energy to the original which hasn't translated over. I understand the desire to tone down the scale of the guns and use symmetry to help give the additional weaponry an air of authenticity but as it currently stands it's almost the only symmetrical part on the model. In a way compared to the ramshackle outer plating , random exhaust and one sided crows nest it almost makes the guns fit the model LESS. The way everything tesselates so nicely almost makes it look like it belongs on a space marine vehicle rather than a scrapped together ork behemoth. I think seeing the art of the original maker really helps to understand the manic, overwhelming effect he was going for in the original. Rather than a compartment opening to reveal a stack of large guns it more looks some kind of junkyard chestbuster scene. The guns breeding and swarming organically in the chest then exploding their way out, frantically reaching forward like a nest full of baby birds. Much like his drawings, the mind boggles to make sense of it. Again- great work but maybe something else to try for round 3!
I was so happy to see my comment at the beginning of the video. The Stompa looks amazing. You are making me really consider getting into Warhammer model building.

Definitely worth doing, even for just the belly cannon upgrade. And yeah those Gear Gutz files are totally worth it, very well done ork bits!
Great video! That Stompa deserves a full on Wayne's World "we're not worthy" meme.
Seeing that little grot with a hammer got me thinking... What if there was an artillery line of grots with hammers that all stand behind a row of giant bullets or mortars sitting on tracks, but they literally have to smack the back of them like the "hammer" of a gun. Some would explode, most would fly off randomly, and the orks would always laugh. That, or a nob with a giant Fallout style power fist who has to punch the back of a mega tank shell twice the size of himself as a titan-killer kind of weapon! Man if I wasn't broke AF I would love to try this out as a 100% scratch built ork list.
Now, that's alot of DAKKA.
I had my doubts Casey, but once again you pulled it off. Nice job.
