Rescuing all Walmart goldfish - fish abuse?

After my first Walmart video got over 180,000 views I went back to Walmart and bought all of their goldfish. I built them a mini pond which is currently overstocked but they will be in the pond soon!

Remember if you go and rescue fish from Walmart they will just be replaced by another fish so I don’t encourage everyone to do this! But keep in mind this video will be in a news article about how Walmart mistreats fish from the largest news agency in the world so remember that before you write “wow that’s so stupid that did nothing they will just buy more fish”

Fishing Fantasy I would recommend at least putting a wave maker or pump in your ponds. Or even better filters. But a pump will move the water around providing oxygen, a swimming current for the fish, and also provide more nutrients to your plants and the bacteria. You can get a small one on ebay or Amazon. You have earned yourself a new subscriber

What people clearly don’t understand is that when the fish die at Walmart, they buy more to replace them. This guy gave these fish a chance to have a happy life. Either way Walmart is going to replace the fish, whether they die or are bought. At least these fish don’t have to suffer anymore. He did a good thing. Edit: Dear everyone replying to this, the point I was trying to make is that there is no way to stop everyone from buying fish from Walmart. Most of the people who buy fish there do not give a shit about fish, so they are going to continue to sell fish because they are going to continue making profit. Generally most people do not think of fish as pets, and rather as decorations for their kids or their home, etc. And as for his tank I assumed it was just a temporary enclosure to make sure the fish aren’t sick and won’t kill his other fish, which you should do when buying fish from anywhere, it’s called a quarantine tank. And I have read the pinned comment I was just simply putting my opinion out there as there is no way to stop EVERYONE from buying fish from Walmart, or make their loss to profit ratio too great to stop sales.

It's a very successful corporate machine which has made it the largest retailer in the world. Unfortunately plants, fish and everything else are just treated as Freight. We have had our betta salesman threaten to no longer sell to us. It doesn't help that the tanks are mass stocked and who knows what we're getting Walmart buys the cheapest so that you can buy the cheapest.

@Anime Shaun To be fair, most if not all pet stores keep at least 6-7 goldfish in just a 20 gal, and it's supposed to be like 20 gallons, and then 7-8 more for each additional goldfish, so those small tanks aren't a big issue, unless of course it's a tank at Walmart, since the employees aren't trained in aquatic care, so the fish are taken care of extremely poorly. Smaller tanks are definitely for the highly experienced, because they require way wayyy more care than a larger tank (Knowing of this since I have a 2.2 and a 2.5 gallon in pristine conditions, both with 2 fish in them.) It's all about the time and effort you're willing to put in, not always the tank size. However of course there's some truth to tank size. You can't justify a goldfish in a one gallon just because it's "healthy and well taken care of"

@@LILxEEZZYx2000 Bettas in nature are aggressive, again. One time, I have a goldfish named kingyo(I used that name, and it means goldfish in Japanese), he was always fun to see him graze on the bottom substrate and being bright as always. I go to somewhere else for some irrational chores, then went home found out my lil sister bought a red halfmoon betta from my uncle. She was named Dumbo. At first Dumbo was calm to the goldfish as it is when in their instincts, fish can't be certain where they are in. Curiosity springs her in when. Kingyo found out another tankmate, which is that betta. I accept my sister that this fish will stay there. Thing went smoothly. But a few days later, my goldfish had both his eyes ripped off and some scales out. I really knew this would happen so I tell my sis to never bring bettas again until she owns herself a bowl. Female bettas can get along each other as long as different species can't be placed into their territory. Bettas are like Oscars, they simply can't be messed with.

Kristine, I agree. Admittedly they did have a couple of floor to ceiling cages, which had around 100+ budgies etc in, but the larger birds were cramped up. What I don't get is how it is still legal to put pets in such small places. There should be a law to say that animals can be kept in a minimum size of tank or cage etc, which is actually comfortable for them.

Hi so I have a question. My sons dalmatian molly just had babies. Any tips on caring for them? We thought both mollies we had were male but turns out one was female and was pregnant when purchased since we've had them separated until a week ago. We've separated babies from parents and from filter with a divider in our 10 gal tank. Our betta fish is in a separate tank. We've also moved our frog onto the side with the parent mollies. Please any tips with the babies would help immensely!

How did you get your betta fish to tolerate living with other fish? I had one (Streamer was his name and he looked a lot like yours) who was happier by himself in a 1 gallon bowl (cleaned weekly or sooner if the need arose) than in a 10 gallon tank with two little goldfish and the pet smart I got him from said that they’re loaner fish and don’t like living with other fish...

I admire your kind heart bro, I really do. But by buying all the fish so they could be cared for properly, you're just actually supporting the store by letting them replenish their stocks and furthermore abuse more fish. In my opinion, don't do it bro. Let their lives have more meaning by not buying them, so that stores like that couldn't replenish their stocks until they won't have fish to sell anymore.

Suzie The Cat Actually no they do not. Yes they are adaptable but that doesn’t mean you should force them into an environment that’s going to cause them stress. Fancy goldfish can tolerate higher temperatures but that doesn’t mean they should have to do so because you’re keeping them incorrectly. 20c is the highest I would go. Comet goldfish are pond fish and should NOT be kept in tanks of with fancies as the comet will out do the fancy for food as fancies are poor swimmers.
