Rescue me or ELS (Ascension Ravine) (#18)

Episode 18. This story takes place over a period of about 5 weeks. A long list of failed adventures and exploration in Ascension Ravine (also known as Els) and Els buttress. Not every adventure goes according to plan - or according to the "text book" as we often say. It's times like these you need a good friend and a good back up plan, and of course, draw on your experience.
You win some, you lose some - do it laughing!!!

Glad that he made it back safely. Hiking in that heat is brutal.

PS if you are close to Cape Town, Lionshead is a quick and easily accessible route. Beautiful views especially around sunset.

In the heat your heart also has to work so much harder thus the level of exertion is much higher.

Exactly, and having a virus onboard makes it all the more dangerous. Took 2 weeks to recover.

Where were you okes trying to go on the first trip? Up the Els Ravine? Where you sat drinking your Milo at the dry waterfall, you just continue straight up the waterfall rock face. It's a difficult scramble with weak holds. The tree that was there to assist is now gone. Glad you guys are OK.

Els ravine yes - we eventually figured it out, but by that point the boulder had already rolled Monty. A call was made in favor of safety and recovery. Thank you for watching and for commenting. It is always awesome to get tips from people!
