Heroic Rescue at Sea for Tuna Fisherman
As seen on local cable news, watch this rescue at sea by the US Coast Guard. They responded to a man who lost consciousness aboard the Legend. See first hand what happens if something goes wrong and and a medi-vac becomes necessary when fishing out of San Diego.
Thank you to the men & women of the USCG for keeping us safe on the water and all the sacrifice that comes with it.

As a nurse, I’ll have to say you made an excellent assessment and performed the right interventions which was crucial for the well being of your passenger. From assessing his mental/physical status, asking pertinent questions about his medical history, identifying the signs and symptoms of a cardiac emergency, communication to the health care team, and preparing a safe transfer, my hat goes off to you. I’ve never fished the Legend before but I’m definitely going to start fishing with you all starting next season. Excellent job taking care of your passengers skipper 🤙🏼🎣

I would like to thank all the crew members and the captain for taking a job very seriously. This is why we go on these types of trip because we know these guys are very professional fishermen and also crew members that take very care of us on this water as a whole efficient, I'm 62 years and I went on a lot of fish and trees. I'd like to thank you for being professional to help. This man out cause I am 62 and I still love fishing. Thank you guys, but about my heart, James Blanchard.😊
Great Job Cap!! 🤙
I was a crew member on the Aztec when Scott broke his leg real bad. It was multiply day trip and we were deep into Mexico waters. Captain Ashley either Donny or Ronnie called C G and started heading back to SD. Chopper met us and sent down a diver and this man was unbelievable in is actions. He had Scotty off the boat in no time. We had everything stuff in the bunk rooms and galley. You wouldn't believe the amount of water it was throwing around and the wind it created. Still don't think that Scotty wears shoes to this day. Second time I delt with the CG was when they towed me into Charleston Oregon from around 250 miles out while I was commercial fishing albacore when the main blew up. Can't say enough great things about the CG. They make sure that we're safe doing what we love. I love these brave men
Great Video, I was taken off The Pegasus in 1991 with a treble hook in the side of my head . Over enthusiastic hook set by the angler next to me. We were on the second day of a 3 day trip Coast Guard first sent a twin engine Falcon jet out to circle the boat while I was taken off.
Capt steve is so chill and friendly in person. And im glad to know how well capt and crew handled the hectic situation, cant wait to book for 2024.

So many of these guys sit up top and never pay any mind to what's going on in the deck. You get comfort that they're going to know what's going on below when they react this way. It's awesome seeing the captain help land the fish with his crew!
Wow thank you guys for an amazing response. You hear of scary stories on the water and I'm so glad to see you guys are prepared for anything.

The brotherhood of Fishermen taking care of all members. Fast action from the crew, the passengers getting everything cleared and ready, and of course the first responders making hard things look easy. Excellent work Captain.

Best boat and crew around. Good job Captain Steve. Always good seeing Kegan getting in some work with the costies. 🎉🎉
Great video, awesome History taken by Steve, he knew what questions to ask, mental status examination, pulses, cardiac history, medication history. Better than the nurses who call me at night lol... Hats off to the Legend! Happy it was Good outcome.

Nice! That’s always good.
Performed svc on the chiller system for M/S Holliday, carnival. The chief of refrigeration had to be air lifted off. Sadly I do not know if he lived. The next Cheif was ‘different” but very pro Maint. What fun job for 5 months.
Well done!!! This video should be watched by all anglers. To clear the deck of gear, never imagined the wind from the Helicopter would blow everything...curious, how long before the CG said they were sending a copter till the time it showed up? Fantastic educational video!

Wow this is awesome.I'm so glad the passage was ok, But what scared me at the end was when they picked up the coast guard guy you can clearly see that his harness buckle had a 7 or 8 foot leash at the end of it that could have got caught up in the propellers.

Almost same thing happen last year on the new loan.coastguard air lifted a passenger i think he passed out or something.good thing is the new loan offered all the passwnger a coupon good for a year to return 🎣

Have to wonder if this was carbon monoxide poisining. He was sitting on the back deck where the exhaust fumes linger. Just a thought. Glad everything turned out to be alright.

No it wasn’t, everyone around him would have also passed out. There are CO2 monitors right there as well for safety. Also medical diagnosis and tests would have shown that, and it wasn’t the case.
