Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Hi Friends and KZread Family,
This is my weekly thrift haul, what I found while out secondhand shopping in a week. But also I include the makeovers. In these makeovers I will be trying out some viewer suggested technique. Honestly some did not go as planned. But in the end it's about learning and the end results.

You have to paint over the salt, let it dry and then brush over it. Brushing off the salt you see the underlying color that you first put on. It does work, you just need to paint over it.

I would buy that huge wood and white flower Lazy Susan from you, Yvonne!! Like for real. Is that possible? I wanted to tell you about the IOD transfer. Once you get it transferred onto your surface, you’re supposed to burnish it with the paper cover deal you just used. So just use the clear sheet that the transfer just came off of and rub it real good over the transfer. Does that make sense? 🤷🏻‍♀️ LOL it’s hard to put into words what I’m trying to say. 🤪 Side note: I’m absolutely LOVING their new releases!!! 🥰😍 Anyways, thank you for sharing your projects with us!! I’m so thankful you didn’t throw your hands up and toss the ones that didn’t work out, aside. You’re right, not everything works out. But everything IS a learning experience! And I’m so thankful that you’ve shared your learning experiences with us! 👍🏻 You absolutely rock, my friend!! 🤘🏻🤍🫶🏻

For the salt technique you have to use a really heavy coat of your base paint and put the salt on it while it's very wet, when it's dry go over it (salt and all) with white or whatever top color. Let it dry for a day then go straight over it with the electric sander (don't try to brush the salt out) it's a combination of the chemical reaction AND grinding the salt into the paint that gives it that unique chippy look.

@@GingerChickRehab The salt technique is really good if you want to have a few colors coming through. I did pumpkins in the fall, I did a full coat of black, then salt, then a green on spots, then salt, then I did my top coat after that (orange, white or green). I mixed up the under colors depending on what color of pumpkin I made. Always put the salt on while the paint is wet and then sand away.

@@GingerChickRehab I’ve seen her brush the paint on & the salt in the wet paint. The paint is so wet that the salt usually soaks up some of the paint. After it completely drys, she sands it & the salt soaked in paint as well as the paint comes off in chunks. Very aged looking kzread.info/dash/bejne/Zo2DqpqfirS9YdY.html

@@GingerChickRehab Our Upcycled Life shows one method where she paints the base coat of black, salts where she wants the choppiness and allows it to dry completely, then spray paints the color of choice, brushes off the salt with a chip brush, then she uses the palm sander to sand the piece to her liking. I would think the base and second paints could be changed with each project. I have not tried it but she makes it look attainable. She does have another method that she salts the WET paint and sands it after it dries. kzread.info/dash/bejne/Zo2DqpqfirS9YdY.html

You probably don't remember back in the 60's and early 70's the channel in Grand Haven, Mi was full of old warehouses. My Aunt's sister had an Antique Shop there which I loved to roam as a kid. The shop was moved to another location as the warehouses gave way to a improvement projects.

I have also tried the salt on top of wet chalk paint which was , I believe , based on a " how to" video . I think the paint goes on quite thickly ? I didn't get it right either ...ended up going back to sand it too ! Your posts are really watchable and informative , you've got an honest approach and we all learn from our mistakes 🙂🙂🙂

I have used mod pudge as a first coat then cover with paint and it gives a very farmhouse crackle! Some people use hair spray between coats and it give a fine crackle. Or you can rub the area with candle wax between coats. Some also use liquid school such as Elmers between coats. It you use your heat gun the better the crackles. Good luck! Love from NB Canada!

Personally, I prefer the painted Black wire all by itself. Love the wire detail on the top part of dress form. It’s unique all by itself & really doesn’t need to be covered.

Yvonne, you are so gracious. Even when something doesn't work out, you just keep right on goin'! And then it turns out even better! You nailed that second dress form. You had a vision for it and successfully pulled it off. I have to say that my favorite makeover this time was the bird lamp. However, all the projects were great.

You can also put the salt down right away while it’s wet. After it drys, it pulls the salt off.
