Looks like the drummer for Republica deleted his arsey comment. Where he pretty much said we weren’t entitled to criticise this performance because we’d never penned a hit like Ready To Go. Only to then be called out by everyone because he wasn’t even in the band at the time the song was released.

Speaking from the perspective of a touring band, shit happens. Guitars go out (especially at outdoor shows and with drop tuning). There's many examples of Republica absolutely kicking ass on KZread. There are posts of my own band that I'm not proud of (and would literally pay to have removed) but that's life in social media!! I love this band and would never be deterred from seeing them based on 1 off day! Love to all of you.

Yeah but I have seen pub bands fix a tuning problem in 10 seconds - this is a big band and they can’t do it?? Someone buy this man a tuner pedal.

I think the guitar guy lost his ears.. He is playing wrong riff, and his back vocals are from totaly different tones...But Saffron is always awesome!

Saffron performed brilliantly despite an out of tune guitar - she is such a trooper. Techy issues are hideous in a live performance - I know, I've had sh*tty monitors giving no foldback at all. But, you just crack on with it! Well done Republica - you rocked.

I am not a professional musician but I do have an understanding. I only discovered this Band 2 years ago. It started with Ready to Go and then I listen to the other tracks on KZread. Excellent band even though you joined later Connor, you were chosen for an ability that Republica noticed. Good work.

Yeah but the other way round, this song is played in Drop D. Guitarist was probably a few cents out of tune -- can easily happen if you quickly tune down from E for the next song on a live set.

Drop d.tune is for the riff. This asshole must be playing the riff in standart tuning

Total dischord on this one. The root is meant to be D on the verse but I cannot figure what is going on here. The singer does well to ride through it :o)

The bottom E string is out by a few cents. That's why it sounds like that. The song is played in Drop D tuning. (DADGBe) Basically the D string is either a bit sharp or flat.

Hi, Conor here, the drummer from Republica...just been reading the comments - ouch!! To be fair, we were having an off day, in fact probably one of our worst! We had a whole heap of technical nightmares on stage that day: In-ear monitors failed, drum heads broke, guitars going horrendously out of tune, the laptop was playing up. Everything just gave up for no reason! Give us a break and go and watch some of our other performances on KZread before you pass judgement. We'll listen to your criticisms when you've had a platinum selling album, and gone to No. 1 in 14 different countries :-) Peace! X

I can sympathize, it's never perfect 100% of the time, and sometimes you're at the mercy of things that just won't cooperate. There is no worse feeling in the world than being on stage and having shit go south. Been there, done that. Hard to find a hole to crawl into when you're bombing in front of a lot of people! :)

I like this different version, it's live and spontaneous, the bass is ballsy, the keyboard effects are cool, the guitarist is not out of tune he's just in the wrong key, and maybe that's the monitor's fault and he couldn't hear himself, the drummer is tight and saffron is rocking it big time, she seeps sexuality---I have been in the concert lighting industry for over 30 years and there are always problems that need to be tweaked and perfected during the performance, I dig the shit out of republica and I hope they keep gigging for a long time...

What the hell happened at 00:30 with the burst? He was out of tune from the kick off but he's gone somewhere weird there.

Also, people called the guitar being out of key earlier but the drums are off too.

Obviously, yes you can be that out of tune. That guitar tech didn't tune the guitar before handing it to the guitar player. Some tech's get fired for something like that

Saffron still amazing to look at and her voice is absolutely the same, completely on target and great. Drummer isn't as good as the original. Keyboardist is fine. Guitarist? He's not in the right industry. It's really a shame. It's not just that the guitar is unbelievably out of tune, so are his vocals, and in another live version in a smaller venue that is a decided improvement on this performance, his vocals are _still_ horribly out of tune. Still is a wonderful song though.

Tell me , how does the guitarist play the intro, pre-chorus and chorus perfectly, but when the single note riff comes in the verses, he's a half step flat ? Everything is in tune except for the verse riff. Maybe too many disco biscuits in the heat of Russian disputations.

Right. I noticed the exact same thing. He is 1/2 step flat in the verses and it destroys the verse. Maybe u r right that drugs were involved. I know more than once I was too inebriated on stage and played songs in the wrong keys.

Because the intro chords (with that drone D on the B string) and the pre-chorus don't use the low E string, which is the string that had the problem. The verse riff is played on only the low E and the A string, with the E tuned down to drop D, so on the single note riff you've got basically half your guitar out of tune. Sounds to me like the drop D string went about half a tone sharp when it jumped off the bridge saddle.

Unfortunately I would have to agree with you. The guitar sounds horribly out but then again so do the backing vocals.

The only positive thing about this performance is Saffron’s voice. Everyone else sounds terrible.
