#Shorts Explore this customizable filament storage system, RepRack by Repkord! This 3d printed spool holder and filament storage system is a great way to use some otherwise unusable space in your 3d printing workshop. It can be scaled from small sections like I showed, to larger walls with ease. Head over to my website printsleo3d.com and check out how I hung these!

    Lol a lot of peopl have feared the humidity, and I'm sure it's warranted in certain people's environment. I'm in the north eastern united States and I have some humidity control where my printers/filament is being housed so it has never been an issue for me. Of course I will dehydrate the heavy hitters like nylon and PC.

    What about humidity?

    Unfortunately, humidity is the biggest issue for this solution. You would need to have some form of humidity control within the room to protect against it. Of course you could Ziplock or otherwise seal each roll you store on the rack. You can purchase a filament dryer to help stave off any accumulated moisture also. I live in NY, the humidity here can get pretty rough come the summer, I run a dehumidifier to stabilize it all and I haven't ran into any problems with water logged filament.

    I wonder if the cereal box filament bunkers could work well on the racks..

    I think Repkord makes a mountable unit to go on these racks. If not you could probably make some modifications to the one you own to make it fit. That's a great idea!

    That's awesome! There's a ton of ways to store your filament, ultimate I think the best is whatever works for you I your situation/setup. This system has worked wonders for me since installed it and I'm thinking about even adding more lol

    @@PrintsLeo3D I have a question¿Do you buy filament in bulk? ¿And what Brand? I got 10 iiidmax but the filament is not good it have diameter imperfections.

    I do some bulk purchases, grab some spools when they go on sale, and then just pick up colors as needed. I actually love the iiidMax bulk sales, I often get the color transition spools, but haven't ran into any diameter issues yet. There's certainly some tolerance issues but nothing that has caused issues yet.

    Love it but I keep mine in cereal containers or vacuum bags with dessicant, I don't know about the rolls being open to the air. But I suppose it could still be in the bags on these racks

    Absolutely! You could nah these up and they would still sit well on the racks. So far humidity hasn't been an issue for me, but I'm constantly checking to make sure all is in order. I also have humidity controls in place. Thanks as always for watching and commenting !

    I am in NY, and my room has humidity control so for the years I've left these spools out I've never had an issue. That's mostly PLA and PETG. The nylon and PC I have I will always dry before I print with. That being said I think Record does have an enclosed version of this system. There's also the option of using storage bins and piping the filament out through them to print with. It's not elegant but it will work.

    Hey i saw your ender 3 setup with the blue high temp PTFE tube. Is it all i need for printing petg? Or do i need an all metal hotend? I'm currently using an ender 3

  • @PrintsLeo3D

    @PrintsLeo3D

    Жыл бұрын

    Prathamesh, it depends on what you're looking for honestly. The blue PTFE tube is from a company called Capricorn and it's the best tubing available. The tight tolerance on the tube helps guide the filament to the nozzle and can actually solve certain issues with stringing. You should be able to print PETG without a Capricorn tube, but the issues that arise are at 240c the PTFE tube can begin to burn and off gas chemicals. Capricorn tubing by itself is rated to be able to withstand those temps, but to be extra safe I prefer an all metal hot end. That means you need to either replace the entire hot end or upgrade to a bimetal heatbreak. Either of those options is fine , just depends on how you go about it. Either way you decide on the hot end, I'd recommend buying Capricorn tubing regardless.

    @@PrintsLeo3D which one would be the best cost effective option with my stock ender 3? As you are printing PETG at 230c with what I see it's a stock ender hotend. Would just Capricorn tubing printing at 230c suffice? I have the Esun PETG white filament
