I actually repotted 5 of my plants but you only see 2 of them here. The others I did as an arrangement & that’s coming in a future post & video. I call this project the “Snake Plant switcheroo” because I swapped out containers & locations they were in. Sansevieria, also known as Mother In Law Tongue, handle dry air & lower light conditions like champions!
After the repotting was finished, I moved them to a shady place in the garden. I let them settle in for a day and then gave them both a thorough watering before moving them to their spots in the house. Anyone else as crazy about Snake Plants as I am?!

Wholesomeness begets wholesomeness. Your energy is incredibly pleasant and therefore your community and your comment sections are as well. Just discovered tour channel today but I can tell I’ll be sticking around for a while.
Oh my god, they look wonderful (as do you), and what a great choice of pots! The yellow looks beautiful and energetic, especially with the colors on the plant.

great vid, you're such a funny lady. Yellow pots good choice, especially the unusual shape of the vase type. Keep up the good work!
This was a very good video and this woman has very good energy and funny at time but I can tell she loves what she does
One of my favourite plant to collect 🌱❤️🇦🇺thanks for your tips you inspire me to enjoy gardening more 💓❤️🌱🇦🇺
Just ..Just ..Just ...excellent....!!! I have 8 snake plants for re-potting. I will follow the guidelines. Thank you Madam.
I have over 30 of these beautiful plants my tallest is about 4 1/2 feet tall and over 30 years old. It's a blooming momma that's been past down. We call her the big mamma, she grows like wildfire in my apartment. She loves being in the corner in low light and water 1 time a month. I have had to separate her 3 times. I finally put her in a giant pot . Once you divide it they will grow like crazy.
Lovely video, thank you so much, it already made my day better! Cant wait to have my first snake plant as well.
I really love Snake Plants! They are one of my favorite house plants. What a great finished product Nell, they look beautiful in those yellow pots. :)

I was going to separate the plants after watching your video I am going to find that yellow spray paint and paint a urn type pot in that glorious yellow , I love yellow also ! Thank you for all the info! Your videos are such a joy to watch & really have helped me!
i'm so confused. how do they drain once you repotted them? the yellow pots doesn't look like it has holes....
Gorgeous
Loved this, thanks so much for your effort am a fan from here on in!
You’re ok, girl🌹. Love your very natural videos and commentaries 🌹. Many thanks from Eastern 🇨🇦 🤗.
So happy I found you. You work with your plants as I do. Lay paper down... easy clean up, same tools & I believe you are the 1st gardener I've seen on KZread who wears gloves. I love plants but for many years I have thought my townhome was too dark. After watching many videos I can now look around & see all the wasted spots I've missed. I have recently given homes to 6 plants & have found I can bring 12 more in, perhaps more? Wish me luck. I'll be watching you. Thanks.
Hi. Thanx for the great video. My question is: can we seperate that plant into individual plants each in a different pot.
thanks for sharing. I just bought this plant today so was checking more description.
You are a joy to watch i love your attitude about everything
Thanks for the tip about the soil you use you are doing a great job repotting. I will try to use that mixture.
I love your plants! So pretty!! Great video!
Great video! Thanks so much. I just bought my first snake plant, and am wondering if I need to replant from the plastic container it came in, it if I should leave it for a while? Thoughts?
Fabulous... ! cheers for sharing love this flower so much their easy to care of... hi from Cyprus
I love that yellow paint pots
Excellent video - but for a plant that lush, I’d be dividing it to make 2or3 new ones and gift the extras to friends. Won’t it get rootbound too soon? Alison, Sydney Australia
Lovely guide :) Thanks! and you are funny too! now I know how should I pot my Sansevieria!
Awesome job... I simply love the yellow

Thanks Sherry, I love yellow too. Such a happy color! Nell
Hi! Loved your video. I bought a few of these plants from a yard sale and they just have one tall (approx 1.5ft) leaf in each pot and I find it looks sorta silly with just one leaf in a pot. Can I add them all into one pot? Thanks!
Enjoyed this video and I learned alot. The snake plant is my favorite.
You are adorable!! Love this 😁
Just repotting some of those plant today as well

TH\hank You! Great instructions posted on your Blog.
What would be the best time of year to repot? I live in Ireland, and I have a sansivieria superba which is growing babies (yay!). I don't want to shock the plant so I was thinking around March next year? Would that be OK?
It’s really a struggle sometimes to transfer them that’s a good one pulled it out so easy 👏👍
Your vibes are immaculate ✨🌿🤍
My snake plant rots the same time of year now two years in a row. The first it was my boyfriend overwatering it so much that the wood floor was even sporting a rot ring! I took it outside, dried it out and let it grow outdoors for the rest of the summer. Removed all the squishy rot roots and replanted the good. It grew back lovely all through fall and winter and then in spring the rot came back. Probably because my boyfriend and that damn watering can! So now I've got about one good piece left. What size pot should i use for it?
Hey Nell! As always love watching your videos, but especially the "Snake Plant" ones. It looks great in your yellow pot! I love how many leaves grow at the same time. The one you planted in your yellow pot is the same kind I have. Would you ever consider having a page with pics of plants your "fans" send in? :-) Keep up the great work!
I never thought of using Yellow pots. You now have a new subscriber from Brampton::)
Hi Nell, that's a great video. I "inherited" a snake plant from my mom. When I got it, it was in this small pot and had fungus flies in it. I dried and aerated the soil. Over the course of two weeks, they died off. The plant started taking off after I got rid of the pests. She had it in a pot that I felt was way too small, so I bought a bigger pot with a reservoir at the bottom. I transplanted it into potting soil with feed and after that, under the same conditions, new shoots disappeared in literally days. It's still a healthy plant, as the new shoots are still growing. It has three "leaners" and I'm glad you addressed that in your video; I thought something else was wrong. I was thinking of getting some root stimulator with potassium, as when I transplanted it, the root system wasn't that vast. Any ideas, please? Again, thank you for the great videos!
Do i have to remove it from the boack pot it came in from home depot?? With the holes at the bottom
Enjoy your video thinking to repotting my snake plant thanks for your advice
#JoyUsGarden mine has done that hanging down for some reason. I've had it almost 3 years now and it's 2 In that pot that looks as if they want to run away LOL.. I Dont have a clue why but id love to know if I try to propagate it do I take the entire plant out root and all or just cut it where it is bent?? Tyvm
Nice yellow pots for sanseveria
i loved this!! you’re also very entertaining 🌱💕
Currently I only have one plant in a pot. Does new babies grow naturally nearby? Or I need to propagate?
so informative, thanks for the great video, have a great day!
Class video, great tips and love your humour 😁😁
Helpful and quick to the point. Thanks!
do you add the succulent mix first of compose first?
Wow! Amazing
When I repot mine, I always break apart the bound up plant. It seems to do well, but I see in your video that you just plant it back all together. Am I doing it wrong?

Personally I would have made about 10 plants out of that overcrowding, and would have just soaked the lot in a basin to eliminate the soil so there'd be no need for a knife, but I am no expert
I like that color you did a great job
needed to watch a video for my spider plant, found you- i am HOOKED!! I love!!!! subscribed!!!! I have videos of my plants too 🌿💘🌹 love from PA 💭💐
What kind of potting soil and compost do you use for this snake plant?
Thank You ALWAYS ENJOY.

Beautiful !
I’m so scared to repot my snake plant! How can you tell if it really needs to be repotted? This is my first plant that has really done well (even had a baby last year that grew huge too).
Can I put my sans in a vase with decorative rocks?
love it.
been trying to find out if there's a best time in the year to repot the plant, so far no good uh I guess it doesn't matter
Love your personality! Helpful video :)
Hey Nell... love your videos!! I’m new to house plants... so far my Peace Lily & Golden Pothos are thriving. I just repotted them because they were root bound in the 4in pots that I purchased them in. I recently bought 3 baby snake plants in 4 in pots from Home Depot. One has a baby plant growing from the bottom. I want to repot it in a 6 in pot. I currently have Miracle Gro Moisture Control potting mix. Can I just use this or do I have to mix in a cactus/succulent mix as well? The Miracle Gro Moisture Control potting mix has perlite in it but is that enough?? Please help

How do you take of the siderplant
I love all of your videos. One question tho....After repotting my snake plant do I water right away? If not, how long do I wait before watering?
I just bought a huge one and I need advice, if I should repot i as I would any other normal house plant upon purchase and home going. Can any of you plant experts guide me please. It is BIG and I think it has been at the store for a while. It is green and beautiful and healthy, but a couple leaves of like 5 groupings of the plants together, look as if they have been a little abused. Other wise, they look really nice and healthy. It is just so BIG. Help. What do I do? Repot or leave alone. The internet says leave it alone.
Hi Nell. what would cause a snake plant leaf to bend and turn yellow? I really don't bother it much since it's low maintenance so I don't what could be the matter. Any ideas or tips would be much appreciated. thanks

Hi - As you saw in the video, the outer leaves of a Snake Plant will sometimes bend over. This I believe is due to weight & the fact it doesn't have the inner leaves to hold it up. Yellowing leaves on a SP is due to too much water, too little water or too much sun. Nell

JoyUsGarden Yes I kinda figured as much, just thought I'd ask an expert. Thank you so much. love your videos, I sometimes binge watch. 😉
Good job
When cutting a leaf straight for propagation, does the donor leaf stay with a straight top? It doesn't look good to have mostly pointed leaves with straight tops mixed in.
@JoyUsGarden
7 жыл бұрын
Hi - The pieces of leaves that are cut straight, like the piece that are pointed, eventually produce new growth. Once that new growth is a good size, you can cut that flat part down as far as you can. Nell
Can’t wait to get my snake plant.
Mine just bent since last week.I repotted them in a turquoise pot.But I would need a matching pot to place them in my living room
I learned something today , that it’s ok to paint used pots , Thank you. I love yellow too, so cheerful also I was thinking about buying a mother- law ,plant it will be plastic. I am 80 years old and not easy to take proper care of plants any more, I love 💕 plants so I will just keep a few. I love house plants. Love watching your show. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year , to you and your family and the people who watch your videos
Do the pots have to have drains at the bottom? I know you mentioned that you should use soil that drains quickly but what about the pot itself?
@saiikik2727
4 жыл бұрын
Yes. You do not want water stuck in the bottom soil. You want the water to be able to drain.
Hi Nell! How are you? Great Snake Plants! I have a medium size one that is really growing well. It is not shooting up new stalks. Am I doing something wrong? Your's seem to have a lot if new growth. Where do you buy your worm casting? I want to get some and see if that would make my plants look like your's. Enjoy! Gerry

It might be the species 😬
Pretty insightful!
Hi I have a question, my snake plants went without water for 4 months so I thought I’d give them a little water, but leafs started to rot, why can’t I water them like a normal snake plant every 3 to 4 weeks? I literally did not water in a very very long time 😐
So beautiful ❤️
Nice pots colour
You're so funny! I enjoy your videos!😁
Beautiful 🤩
Hii mam Namaste. I have kept some cuttings of snake plant since 2 months but I haven't found baby plants yet! !
Would it be beneficial to add any orchid bark to the mix?
Thank you.
Love your videos
have you tried growing sansevierias by seed? i might try.
That yellow is pretty I'm a snake plant girl too 3😁😁😁😁😁
Mine is turning brown idk what to do. I water it once a month and it’s sitting in my hallway with low lighting :(
