Luckily, the old media wasn't too decomposed so the roots were still good.

It would have been taller if it hadn't fallen and broken.

I repotted an orchid for my Dr last year. It had so many roots and they were all nice and healthy. I could not get it out of the pot. I had to cut it away

Thanks Roger for sharing all your tips and tricks. I’ve used your stake on the outside a couple of times! I only have one Den so I’m still learning how to care for it. The good news is mine has two new growths so I must be doing something right. 😊

Dendrobium infundibulum Latouria ? In clay pots using 3 mm diamond drill drilled holes 120 degrees apart 1cm below for clay pots or heated a nail with a torch making 3 holes for plastic pots then using 2-3 mm wire used for suspended ceiling frames making wire pot hangers. I hang my Nobile Dendrobiums thus saving shelf space in the Orchid house. The new canes droop down as if hanging in a crook of a tree. Other orchids are hanged also.

Great root system! 👍 It makes it a little easier to pot the 🌱. My only black hair type Dendrobium ( Jiaho Delight ) also needs a repot . It has many aerial roots and it looks untidy 🙄😄... but .....I'm waiting for new growth 🤞. Thank you for sharing your advice and tips 😊🌺

It is very 'top heavy' even more so when in bloom.
