Floridians see this and think yea ok…this is Florida. There are a lot of gators here. I had a gator in my backyard during Hurricane Frances, and have had gators hang out in my backyard many times when there isn’t a storm. They venture up our boat ramp and sun bathe. It’s really not all that shocking to us. You know they’re out there even if you can’t see them, and you just stay away from them or avoid them if you see one. The rule of thumb for most Floridians, see any body of water, even flood water, there could be a gator hiding.

Every lake in Florida has gators. The storms pick them up as babies an flings them through the air to other places. Back in the 70s they were everywhere. Driving down roads cars would come to a stop or slow down because of gators crossing the roads from one canal to another. Daily life. Snapping turtles were everywhere too. As an adult today, nearly 60, I’d be sketched out to swim in the lakes, but back then that’s where we played without thinking. Yes, we’d freak out if something touched our legs and we’d run almost on top of the water but then be right back in. Remember fish would bite freckles and moles, boobies too on us boys. Guess they thought they were bugs or something. Stupid fish. Ah… the good ol days.

I live on The Villages in central Florida not that close to any pond and the 2nd day we moved into our new home a 5ft gator was by the bushes in our front yard which we originally thought was a trash bag. Gators can be found pretty much anywhere in Florida and those who live in Florida must be cautious of them and other native critters. Last week out riding on a pretty busy golf cart path a cotton mouth rattle snake crossed the path just ahead of us and rearrf up as we passed it with mouth wide open then headed off into the preserve. That freaked me out more than the gator. But I chose to live in Florida so have to get familiar with and respectful of the wildlife here as it is their home too.

No I didn't see that video... Where can it be seen... Was it a snake or an alligator... I feel for these people... Unfortunately this is a major wake up call for all those GLOBAL WARMING deniers... And until we can start reversing the damage we all have done... It's only going to get worse... 1 extremely small good point .. With all the water seeping back into the ground .. No more sink holes until the ground gets sucked dry BY the over use of natural resources again.
