It works, but there's some things you have to keep in mind: a) some flex cables are too stiff it seems, with brickling contacts when taking out which you only see under a microscope. Cost me one afternoon to find the issue. I wanted to check my 2nd IDE ZIF HDD from dead laptop before, but the problems immediately started. I had a 2nd flex cable from same laptop with defective screen, which works. Both flex cables are kinds different. The one which broke looks like an early prototype or self-made glued with different plastic parts on top. The one from 2nd laptop which worked looks way better with thin PCB plate on the top. b) the adapter for ZIF/LIF didn't work at 1st try. You need to add like 3 layers of Tesa film tape at the bottom side of your flex cable to make the ZIF socket hold it (bend up black part, put in cable + 3 layers of tape at bottom, bend down black part, it's holding now. c) you need to either glue or use some foam at the left part to hinder the PCB of the adapter to possibly shorten contacts. Also add some foam on top left part of the mSATA socket just under the plastic cover. This way it can't move and also the flex cable won't move and brickle. d) mSATA sadly get quite hot. I measure like 60 °C idle and up to 82 °C under write/read test with HDTune Pro with Transcend 256 GB mSATA. So expect battery runtime not being better than with HDD or maybe even less. I haven't tested it yet, as my battery is completely flat. As I ran Ubuntu 18.04 on it years ago, I saw like 5.5 watts idling with screen on lowest settings and WLAN on. This laptop's WLAN is pretty strong, btw. As Samsung mSATA are rare and/or cost like 3 times as much as Transcend, I bought the cheap one, but it seems to not have any powersave functions, so I guess it takes 1-1.5 amps 3.3 V all the time, so that's like 3-4 watts avg. I guess. The HDD's are rated at 0.5 amps 3.3 V, btw., running much cooler and efficient, but also way slower ofc. So this Transcend mSATA actually isn't that good. I thought about using it for an iPod Video optionally, but with that temps and high amps use, better not, lol. Transfer speed is like max. 50-66 MB/s (I think it's UDMA 66 IDE here, so that can't get faster, but even with USB 2.0 any SSD is faster than any avg. HDD in IOPS, latency and access times). The 80/100/120 GB IDE ZIF Toshiba HDDs had like 25 MB/s max. and very low 4k read/write ofc. 4k read/write of the Transcend mSATA I think is like 10-20 MB/s, which also is okay, don't expect wonders like 30+ MB/s 4k speeds from non Intel/Samsung/SanDisk/Lexar flash drives. Still faster than any HDD. The question is how long does it run w/o quitting. Make backups ofc. ;) I'll use Windows XP SP3 for retro purposes (offline ofc.), maybe DOS 6.22 or FreeDOS and Endeavour OS Xfce Linux I think. Let's see how it fits together with GRUB2 for Linux (make divided Windows partition with GPartEd and installing Windows 1st, then adding other partitions and install Linux and DOS afterwards). Xubuntu is too slow or you need to disable snapd at least. Win 8-11 are a bit slow on those low TDP devices, tho I used 8/8.1 for School on it. There's 2570p or different hardware for faster Windows usage. At least the crappy Win 10 semi-annual upgrades don't exist anymore, so it can't break by software upgrade with those not existing anymore, if you install Win 10 22H2. A 9 cell battery is good with this laptop, which at the same time is adding a bit space underneath, which supports the small fan. Sadly the optional docking station hinders the fan completely, that's a fail design. Maybe I open that one and check cables, drill a 3 cm hole into the docking station where the fan sits.

I had the same. It actually were 2 errors in a row: My HP flex cable copper contacts brickled at 1st change. Even a 2nd IDE ZIF HDD couldn't be read. I wasted hours to find out and saw it under the microscope. Gladly I had a 2nd one from another 2510p with broken screen. This 2nd flex cable was of higher build quality. My 1st one actually looks like a prototype, glued with layers of 1 mm plastic parts instead of a plastic block and thin PCB on top which the 2nd one gladly had. The HP 2510p is known to sometimes not see devices in the F9 boot menu. But it didn't show up very often, too often. The 2nd error is that the ZIF flex cable was too loose with the mSATA adapter. I needed to add 3 layers of Tesa film underneath it. Now it fits, so the black piece of the ZIF socket holds the cable in place. Finally add some foam at the left side to hinder shortenings of the adapter with metal pieces of laptop. Then add some foam above top left mSATA socket to keep the PCB in place, right underneath the plastics cover. Otherwise it won't last long, have shortenings or the flex cable goes defective. Sadly my Transcend 256 GB mSATA runs pretty hot (60 °C idling, max. 82 °C when reading/writing with HDTune Pro to check the whole memory for possible errors). I dunno how good Samsung mSATA are, but all my Samsung EVO/QVO 2.5 " drives run at like 30-40 °C idling and even under load. But it costs like 3x as much and I don't do important stuff with this dated laptop nowadays.

You don't need another PC. Just start Hiren's BootDVD 15.2 restored v1.1 by Proteus, Strelec Win 10 PE 2022 also runs perfectly fine off Ventoy USB stick or any Linux live with GPartEd included does the trick. It doesn't matter in which PC you format it ;) You meant the BIOS sees the drive or not, yeah. But any install CD or WinPE or Linux live will see it, if empty. My Transcend 256 GB mSATA is having like 50-66 MB max. speed. I think the connector is having UDMA 66? Under Linux it showed 70 MB/s I think or a bit higher using sudo hdparm -tT --direct /dev/sda or /dev/sdb, but it could be a mis-interpretation between MB/s and MiB/s. Sadly the Transcend mSATA runs very hot (60 °C idle, 82-83 °C maximum with HDTune Pro overwriting with zero and verify). I guess Samsung mSATA run much cooler, but also the adapter may need like 1-1.5 watt heating it up and the fan at the left side doesn't cool the HDD bay sadly. You could drill a 2 cm hole there, but I don't think it's worth it, as I did run a good USB cooler underneath and it didn't lower the mSATA temp.

I tried to see in the title of your video and in the content, but I don't understand your language. Please, could you give me that information and, if possible, where I can buy it. old HDD max. 25 MB/s, very low 4k read/write speed, low IOPS, high latency in [ms], long access time. Even cheap mSATA is having like 50-66 MB/s transfer speed, 10-20 MB/s 4 k read/write speed, 0.1x ms access time, some 1,000 IOPS instead of like approx. 10? IOPS of slow HDD. Any slow SSD is faster even with USB 2.0. The max. speed is not everything, but IOPS, latency, access time is worth more, multiplying latency.

Check flex cable for broken copper lines under microscope. Mine broke at 1st change. Gladly I had a 2nd one. Then add some foam at left side to hinder shortenings. Then add some foam top left side of the mSATA socket under the plastics cover to hinder movement and wear of the flex cable. A 256 GB mSATA works fine here. Smaller mSATA SSD nowadays aren't really cheaper, that's why I didn't buy 128 GB now. But my Transcend mSATA runs very hot (idling 60+ °C, max. 82 °C under heavy read/write load with HDTune Pro test). My Samsung 2.5 " SATA all run at 30-40 °C, but I didn't but the expensive Samsung mSATA now, as I think it's not worth it nowadays compared to like HP 2750p and big cheaper Samsung 2.5 " SATA SSD. That's like 256 GB vs. 4 TB nowadays for the same price of Samsung mSATA vs. SATA 2.5 ". Another possibility is to use drivebay IDE to SATA adapter and normal cheap quality Samsung 2.5 " SSD. But then you also add like 1 watts for the transverter adapter and can't use the DVD burner in this laptop. I didn't test it, but maybe some Operation Systems might not boot off "optical".

HP Compaq 2510p Notebook PC adapter is working. Before installing the mSATA SSD into the adapter, it must be "Activate and format to NTFS" on another computer. The adapter does not know how to activate and format. My mSATA SSD 32Gb InnoDisk showed the results 77read/25write Mb. I am satisfied. (I immediately put a new one, not activated, and the laptop did not see it)
