My motor died a few days ago, Erik had me send him a photo, and my new part arrived I day later. I love that he included a video on how to replace it, I am 71 years old…with no skills…I changed it myself. Great directions! Thank you Geri

Eric, I cannot thank you enough for this video and for speaking to me on the phone today. Your step by step guidance was easy to follow and made what I thought would be an insurmountable job a piece of cake. I ordered my motors and wheels from your website and eagerly await their arrival. If you ever need an endorsement let me know. Steve C. Texas.

Thank you so much for taking the time to make this video. You walked me through the process beginning to end, including after I thought I was all done but one fan didn't move, and the other one made a weird noise. I took everything apart again, came back to finish watching the end of your video, and reinstalled the fans with that flat bit facing down, and then they worked perfectly. You were very thoughtful about everything I could have possibly done wrong, and prevented / solved it.

Great video tutorial. I wish I had known about this previously as I have been cleaning by hand. Thank you very much so looking forward to yucky cleaning becoming easier and knowing there is a tool for this item. Btw, it would be helpful if the sales people that answer/field questions in Richardson headquarters would be aware of this and relate it to customers. I called some years back asking for help, suggestions, comments, etc. even if they knew of a cleaning service that would come to clean it as I would be willing to pay or anything that would help and the man I spoke with thought I was crazy and could not help me. He said call a cleaning service and hung up! If the appliance is already installed in house you may not necessarily have info and no did not think about looking on you tube until a teenager suggested it.

Useful video. I removed the set screw and tried for weeks using PB Blaster, leverage, and muscle to remove the blower wheel from my fan motor and never got anywhere. A friend had the idea to use a propane kitchen torch to heat up the hub for a few seconds. It worked almost right away to free the wheel from the motor shaft. A bunch of gunk had somehow entered behind the set screw. It was never going to come off without some serious help. (By the way, PB Blaster doesn't appear to be flammable.)

Vent A Hood seems to have the grease handling and cleaning figured out. I have struggled to keep a Zephyr brand clean. Many brands seem made for people who don't cook and are just "for looks". My next hood will be a Vent a hood.

You can remove these wheels and soak them in really hot water and dawn detergent. after a period of time soaking the wheels you can use a tool like a toothbrush to free up grease on the splines.

If your set screw is stuck or the fan won't come off the shaft, you can remove the he screws without removing the fan first. Then once you have the assembly off you can work on separating the two on a work bench or table

Any suggestions as to what type lubricant I can use to help loosen fan from the motor? I really don’t want to damage the motor. By chance do you now the cost to replace the fan or fan/motor?

Hi I just purchases the left blower motor and wheel for my older model VentaHood and the blade is slightly touching the blower housing causing it to be noisy. There doesn't seem to be any reason for it to be extension and before I start to try and bend the blower housing outwards wit a hammer ...I thought I better see if this is a common issues that can be fixed another way. Thanks JIM

  • @erikbergstrom451

    @erikbergstrom451

    14 күн бұрын

@@LindenwoodInn thank you for reaching out. All the new blower motors that we are sending out have a little C clip attached to the motor shaft. Your first step should be to remove this clip to see if it gives you a little bit of adjustment on the wheel sliding back before it tightens down. The second thing I would suggest is spinning that blower wheel to see if it’s bent out of round. If that blower wheel is bent out of round, you may have this issue until it’s replaced with a new wheel that is not bent out of round. The wheel you purchased may have taken some abuse in transit, and this could cause the wheel to bend out of round.

If the brand of motor inside your vent a hood is fasco there is no feature to grease the motor/. If the motor inside your hood is made by emerson you will find a small grease fitting in the back of the motor. The emerson style motors have not been made in over 45 years so its likely you have the fasco style motor. These motors are sealed and do not require grease.

Thanks very much for the excellent video! I notice there is a red rocker switch (on the right) and a black rocker switch (on the left). Does the red switch operate the fan on the right and the black operates the fan on the left?

The switches on vent a hood product have changed over the years/. If you have a single speed motor both your switches would be black. Models that feature a duel speed motor feature the red switch like the one you see in this video clip. the center switch is the light source

Hi Eric, I'm building a house and I want to get a ventahood. I'm wondering if I can install a ventahood with one motor (300 CFM) and, if I decide at a later date that I need to add another one (and of course add makeup air), can I just add another motor to the hood to get 600 CFM? (and add the ductwork for the makeup air, of course)? I'm looking at your 36" model which I think supports this.

  • @erikbergstrom451

Unfortunately you cannot add additional blowers to a vent a hood at a later time. The units frame is designed from the factory to have either one blower or an array of blowers . Make up air could be added at a later time.

There is no easy remedy for a blower wheel that's fused onto the shaft from years of operating in a hot environment or in some cases a set screw has been over-tightened causing some displacement of metal on the shaft. I have heard from customers over the years that have used hot torches to heat the metal, I have had other customer drill a series of holes at the base of the wheel in-till it came free. Others use prying tools. I must advise that any of these methods could damage the motor and this is a risk some customers feel is acceptable. There is no cure all advice that I can give in regards to how to successfully remove a stubborn fused wheel.

I would suggest removing that motor and attempting to plug it into a separate plug outlet somewhere on the home. If it is just humming and not turning it would need to be replaced., Please make sure the wheel can free spin when the motor is turned off ( this will ensure the wheel has not been adjusted to far back on the motor shaft causing any interference )

HELP! Has anyone had trouble just getting the blower housing off? Mine is totally stuck...Heat shield came off easily, the latches open fine, but the blower housing itself (the painted metal box cowling that encloses the blower fans) simply will not budge. I've sprayed detergent and other degreasers around the seams and into the housing itself, I've moved the damper flaps back and forth with a coat hanger. There is nothing visible or obvious that is obstructing removal, but the most movement I can get is about 1/2" along the bottom edge. Any suggestions warmly welcomed!!

I would recommend taking the hood down off the wall. In very rare cases these hoods can be torqued down to a wall thats significantly out of square., When this happens the motor plate and the housing are overlapping. This is a result of the hood twisting to lie flat on a wall thats out of square when it was being installed. The only cure is to ensure the hood is on a flat surface when trying again to remove the housing.

You don't have to remove the cover. First make sure to turn off the breaker to the hood, and then you can use a flat screwdriver to pry the switch out. They are held in by depressable plastic clips on the sides. They sell these rocker switches at Home Depot and Lowes, so you can look at one to see what I am trying to describe. They are only about $5 each.
