Replacing O2 Oxygen Sensor on my RSX Type S: Troubleshooting and Fixing Check Engine Light

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

In this video, I'll take you along on my journey of diagnosing and fixing a Check Engine Light (CEL) issue on my RSX Type S. Within the first two weeks of owning the car, I encountered my first CEL, and it was time to investigate and resolve the problem.
Using an OBD2 reader, I discovered that the CEL code was P0139, indicating low voltage from the secondary oxygen (O2) sensor. To confirm the diagnosis, I analyzed the live data and concluded that the O2 sensor needed replacement.
Join me as I walk you through the process of changing the O2 sensor, located underneath the car at the catalytic converter. I'll share the necessary parts and tools required for the job and provide step-by-step instructions on disconnecting the plug, removing the old O2 sensor, and installing the new one.
After completing the replacement, I verified the voltage readings using the OBD2 reader. Witness the moment when the CEL disappears, indicating a successful fix. However, I didn't stop there-I retested the voltage to ensure everything was functioning correctly.
Follow the timestamps provided in the video to jump to specific sections if needed. I hope my experience and the troubleshooting process can assist you if you encounter a similar issue with your vehicle.

What o2 sensor did you buy and from where?

I got my o2 sensor on kseriesparts, ordering the oem one for the primary. The secondary o2 sensor I got the NTK brand. OEM Honda sensors are actually made by Denso. If I had to order it again, I would probably get both off densoproducts.com. O’reilly and Auto zone stock them too, but just make sure you get Denso or NTK.

Btw, the reason why it got NTK is because I couldn’t find a Denso secondary o2 sensory at the time (low stock) and I trusted NTK as it’s made by NGK which is the OEM spark plug brand for Honda and a lot of other car manufacturers. Been running it for a bit and no issues

@@user-iu1gi3rn8x yes, for secondary o2 sensor, NTK Part #24409. Denso is technically the official maker for Honda o2 sensors, but NTK is a bit cheaper and a good alternative. I however used Denso for the primary. Primary O2 sensor: • Honda Part #36531-PRB-A01 • Denso Part #234-9005 Secondary O2 sensor: • Honda Part #36532-PRB-A01 • Denso Part #234-4360 • NTK Part #24409
