RevCircle

Hey 👋 - I like building JDM cars and now I’m documenting my progress on restoring and building my RSX Type S (DC5 integra). Sharing tips and learnings along the way. Will also share coverage of car events I go to.

Built my first budget build car in 2008 and sold it eventually for something reliable to focus on my design career, now I'm back at it, and looking forward to sharing progress on my next build. I currently drive a 2021 Subaru WRX STI Limited and working on restoring a 2003 RSX Type S to it's former glory.

Thanks for taking the time to stop by my channel, RevCircle!

    Would the 06 pump work on the 05 RSX?

  • @revcircle
    @revcircle14 сағат бұрын

    Yes, the 05 and 06 RSX should be the same OEM part number which is the safer swap. I believe as long as you are matching the model, so Type S only works for Type S, and base mode only for base mode. They seem to still be selling this as the dealer and parts website, but discontinued it for 02-04. Otherwise I would have bought that.

    Aye man! Hoping you're still active checking the comments every other day. My sunroof stopped working and noticed this little spring with a rubber cover on it that was detached on the driver side. Any idea on where it goes? Haven't taken off my sunroof yet it this heat but wanted to try and ask. I can't find anything on this little piece.

    hey, i check once and awhile and you caught me at a time I was active. I quickly checked the owners manual sunroof diagram and didnt see any spring in it. You got picture? I dont think I've encountered it myself in my sunroof and I've never taken apart the headliner for this car, only the glass with the 6 screws as shown in my video.

    Theres a secondary filter incorporated into the upper housing, should it be blown out or seviced from time to time or do we rely on the disposable one to keep it clean

  • @revcircle
    @revcircle16 сағат бұрын

    I haven't encountered the second filter in the engine bay, got a picture? I've only replaced this main engine air filter. It is sometimes good to clean the throttle body where the filter tube connects to from time to time when there's build up. That one has a longer maintenance interval from disposable air filters.

    Hi, my rsx is making a creak noise in the rear passenger side when I go over bumps or when I go into a driveway, could it be that this bushing is bad in my car? Thanks in advance

  • @revcircle

    It's hard to know the exact issue, it could be any of the bushings. I think the lower control arm bushings are the ones that squeak the most for me. You could try spraying silicone grease a bushing at a time to see if it improves.

  • @revcircle

    It depends on the coilover type. This new generation fortune auto has the bolt to lock it for the Allen wrench. While most traditional coilovers has the double perches. Really depends on what you got but this 8th gen FA500 has the Allen wrench

    I always crack open the fill cap before I drain to help it drain (and to ensure you can fill it before you drain all the fluid out). Also I've always heard to never use a wrench when tightening the oil filter as they become harder to get off with heat cycles. I've always gone snug plus 1/2-3/4 turn, never letting myself try to really muscle it though. Too tight can split the rubber ring on cheaper filter, and worse case scenario is stripping the oil filter housing threads

    That's awesome, hope you enjoy the car when it arrives. The MPG is good, but now that I've driven for a few months, I'd say it gets around 400ish per tank if im driving in eco mode. @@KC-ut7wh It's good for a hybrid. Gets me about 405 miles to a tank. The tank is tiny, only 8 gallons. I wish it was bigger but it still gets alot out of a tank. Roughly 41-42ish mpg, but I leave it on normal to sport mode often just to get acceleration. Eco mode is pretty slow. Car is doing well, it's a solid commuter car and I think it looks great and ride quality is smooth. This of course is me comparing it to my other cars which have sport / track suspension.

    Yeah, they say their oils are more efficient, but agree - 10k is far out. Some folks I know mentioned you get more oil burning around 100k miles if you don't do frequent oil changes. Whether or not any of that is true, I want my car to last a long time and it doesn't hurt to make it more efficient with clean oil. I'm also going to do 5k mile intervals.

    Hey bro a few videos ago you installed the outside door trim that runs along the top of the window and down the b pillar. In the video you didn't take of the b pillar cover and the seal didn't fix into the jam properly half way down the b pillar. How did you fix this and how did you take off the B pillar? I have just installed them on my blue dc5 and have this issue. I can see in this video that the seal is fixed.

  • @revcircle
    @revcircleАй бұрын

    I was careful and I was able to lift it slightly with some plastic trim tools to put the rubber seal in with out removing the trim sash / b-pillar section you mentioned. That area is held down by two white clips that are pretty fragile. If you can do that, it might solve your problem. Hope that helps

    Very straightforward and clear. I am suppressed that you did not use a torque wrench on the drain plug, to be sure and get it right. Do you have the torque spec?

  • @revcircle
    @revcircle2 ай бұрын

    For exact torque spec for oil drain plug for this Toyota Corolla, I'm not sure. There are Toyota forums that have a range between of 20-30, but if you find out, let me know as I'm curious. I always very lightly hand torque and rely on the crush washer for most of my cars. My philosophy is better to under torque than to strip the the drain pan. And I can tighten more if there are leaks after warm up which it usually never does. I'm sure other folks have different opinions. I just tried looking up on the toyota site service manual, but it only mentions wheel torque spec at 76 ft lbs, but no mention of torque of the drain plug: www.toyota.com/owners/warranty-owners-manuals/

  • @revcircle
