    Probably one of the best videos I've seen. I appreciate your calm demeanor and you're easy description of how things are done. I've changed out probably 50 of these. Your video is by far the best. No unneeded dialogue or abusive language. Your descriptions were spot-on. Very good video I don't see how you got any thumbs down.

    Good morning. Just trying to figure out why people are replacing these pumps? You said you've replaced 50! So I think you would know. I have a 2008 A4 3.2L that dies while driving, and has a long crank after it dies. Eventually starts up and runs fine. Sets fault code P0190 for fuel pressure circuit. I'm pretty sure I probably have a fuel pump issue, just trying to verify. Thanks!

    Great video, but I wanted to share something VERY important. Feel free to pin this post if you agree. The reason the fuel line with the black fittings wouldn't come off is because the line was under pressure. That is a Norma NORMAQUICK S 90 connector. They are designed to NOT release when there is pressure in the line. So you need to pull the fuse for the fuel pump, run the car until it dies to release the pressure. Then that connector will come off as easily as the blue one. The reason I think it's very important is if you break that connector, it could mean replacing the entire pipe to the fuel filter which means you may have to drop the tank a bit to get in there, which on an AWD car is a pain and might even involve dropping the rear subframe. All for a cheap plastic fitting.

    I have an Audi A4 B7 1.9 TDI 2006. I removed those covers and there’s nothing under them. Will it be possible that my model won’t have one at all and the high pressure fuel pump does it all?

    What if the car won’t run😂. I think I have to replace the pump because there’s no fuel being pushed and my car won’t turnover but will crank normally

    @@badeamadain359if anyone sees this in the future. Or if by chance you still have the Audi….the Fuel pump is in the boot (trunk for you folks overseas) at the back right under the carpet. Three screws to get the cover off and it’s right there. It’s a tight space for the change

    The electrical connectors are more simple than they look. There is a little tab near the back edge that you just pull up on (in the same direction you are pulling the connector). They can get sticky, but they shouldn't break. Great video!

  • @CoenraadZ

    Excellent video! Those fuel line connectors are a PITA! Tip: Buy a cheap pair of needle nose pliers. Then heat up the tips over a gas flame (Kitchen stove gas burner will do the trick). When the tip glows red hot, use another pair of strong pliers to bend the tip inwards at a 90 degree angle. When done you will have made yourself a pair of "pincers". Push down on the connector and then use the pliers to push those tabs inwards, then upwards and the connector should pop off. Regarding those pesky electric plugs - I've seen many destroy the large "D" type electrical connectors because they don't quite realize how they work. You'll find these being used virtually everywhere on both Audi and VW. The secret is too push the entire connector towards its receiving plug/housing. While keeping pressure, press the little rectangular tab (towards the bottom of the connector) downwards and then pull the entire connector off. Once you get the hang of it you won't believe how easy they are to remove. Here is a guy that explains it in a short clip: kzread.info/dash/bejne/pHuczM-tltynmqw.html

    Thanks,I tried to use needle nose pliers been like what you’re explaining but I think the needle nose pliers I used were too thin. I’m gonna try some thicker needle nose. That’s a good idea to use pliers to apply more pressure to the modified needle nose pliers. Thanks again

    Just changed mine out today. After a lil research on the correct pump for my car (and purchasing the wrong one at first), I realized that the new pump you used in the video is marketed as the 4WD variant and the one you pulled out is the AWD pump. Now I don’t know an insane amount about cars, nor did I think there would be a difference, and I’m not going to claim to know your car was AWD, but there was a difference in the pumps I received. I didn’t have to do any of the modifications to the pump I purchased marketed as AWD and the pump I bought that was marketed as the 4WD had the same setup as the new one in this video. I would suggest to anyone who decides to do this themselves. 1: Make sure your tank is half or below (as said in the video). 2: Make sure the pump you buy is for your make, model, and drive type. And lastly 3: Have plenty of drip pans/rags to collect fuel that leaks. Hope this helps, I’m really not that knowledgeable about cars but I managed to do it, and it’s worth the effort.

    Hi, I'm just trying to figure out why people are replacing these fuel pumps? I have a 2008 A4 3.2L that dies while driving and has a long crank. Sets fault code P0190. I've already replaced the low-pressure fuel sensor and it's good for a couple days, then does it again. So low pressure pump is my next bet.

However, after the replacement, I’ve noticed my fuel gauge needle would never reach the top even though the tank is full. Not sure if you have seen this before? Any ideas? Thanks for your help.

    Modding a fuel pump is a little dangerous. It should be plug and play. Out of all the things you may need to mod on a car to fit correctly, the fuel pump is the one exception where you need it to be exactly like the original. So, just curious, where did you get your new pump from, and wondering if all a4 pumps need to be modded as well??

    You need to check the trouble codes and if you can get it running for a while check the fuel pump pressure and duty cycle for the low pressure and high pressure pumps. the fuel pressure is regulated by the ecu signal to the fuel pumps directly

  • @robertficek7586

    @robertficek7586

    2 жыл бұрын

    A couple of ways to check and condemn the fuel pump, symptoms of a bad pump can be an extended crank at morning start up, the main function of the low pressure pump it to maintain a constant 5 bar pressure. If the pressure is inconsistent then there is an issue either at the pump or the pump driver. Check codes related to the low pressure pump. Check blocks 101 - 109 and find the one that shows the low pressure fuel pressure (5 bar) and duty cycle. A new pump should run 55-60% at 5 bar at idle, it should run no more then 70% at idle, over 70% indicates a wear on the pump and it has to work harder to keep up, recommended to replace if you have a few of those issues

You need to be a yoga specialist to reach it. Also, with your instruction, it's almost impossible to disconnect the fuel lines (in this position). I hope that the creator of the fuel line connectors will meet a very unpleasant karma.
