Replacing Fan & Thermal Paste on Steam Deck

Here I replace the internal fan of the Steam Deck. And I also replace the thermal paste as well. Hope you like the video.
UPDATE: Tested various games and temperatures are just a Little Bit Better. Played RoboCop and after 20 minutes games still throttles. It Could be the Game system requirements are too much for the Deck.

I was very scared to replace the thermal paste in the steam deck. Thank you for showing each step you did and what tools you chose for it. Now I have the complete instructions for how to do the task, some time I plan to replace my thermal paste too. :P Got to get the cleaner and cue tips first. :D

what alcohol did u use?
i heard arctic silver isnt exactly "good" for steam deck's APU. not sure how true that is. for a desktop/laptop PC cpu sure. but i heard for the APU's heatsink it doesnt make as good contact. i was recommended thermalright TFX thermal paste, thicker thermal grease (silicone) or graphene thermal pad. i will be researching all 3 of these options to see which one is best to use. i plan on replacing the thermal paste on my deck sametime i do the storage upgrade in a few weeks and may make a video on it as well
Next time, before you do any manipulations in steam deck, be sure that your battery has unplugged and press the turn on/off button a few times to uncharge remained energy. That's will be safer;)
9:55 also heard that for APU, the old school advice of just putting a pea sized drop in the middle isnt sound advice either. That due to APU utilizing the entire surface of the chip as opposed to just the center, it needs to be spread. again just what i heard and not sure if its true, i will need to do more research on it
FYI Always check your thermal paste is good to use as it DOES go bad after a while. If it's watery do not use it.

Thermal Temps are better. But I guess Robocop is so demanding that it still throttles like 30 minutes in.
Also Valve said these cooling solutions, even more holes in the case can upset the cooling design they made, people make the CPU / GPU cooler but the RAM gets hotter as cooling isn't balanced then. So it's do it at your own risk.
Now you should make another vid of Robocop to see if it acts up again.👍
