Fun fact: 1 db equates to approximately a 1.26 times difference in noise level. 3.1 db equates to approximately a 2.04 times difference in noise level. So PTM7950 can make the game run cooler while also making the fan half as loud. It’s a bigger difference than most people might think.

Also it gets better over time as the material undergoes burn-in.

Thanks for taking the time to do this, the effect of the PTM is very much within margin of errors for OLED making it unnecessary, unlike the original, so you have saved a bunch of money for people who were ambivalent. However the PTM is definitely the superior material for longevity and won't need reapplication after years.

Thank You for Testing the OLED Steam Deck with the PTM 7950. I was looking for answers on how well the new OLED did with it.

I have the PTM7950 in my LCD Deck along with the Jsaux Vented Backplate and have been very satisfied with the lower temps and fan noise. Would be very interested to know how the OLED performs with the PTM + vented backplate as well.

I think ye might have confused the phase changing bit. It goes from a paste to liquid at around 60°c which allows it to cover more surface area by filling in small gaps. That's why it works better once you do a few workloads and heat up the ptm a couple of times.

Ow has the ptm7950 cool the OLED after 2 months? I understand that it needs a "break" before it really goes. I usually use kingpin kpx but now after having a handheld I was thinking of giving the ptm7950 a try. Thank you for doing this!

PTM last MUCH longer than normal thermal paste. So for longevity alone it’s worth it

It’s not a thermal pad. It’s Honeywell PTM7950. You can get it in the video description below, or ebuy7

I can actually vouch here. I recently just repasted my OLED with some Arctic MX that I had left over from a Ryzen 7800X3D PC build I did recenty and I have noticed a few degrees drop in temps with the Arctic. My testing wasn't as thorough though. I tested with Red Dead Redemption 2
