    AWESOME VIDEO! Thank you so much for taking the time to explain all the steps. I noticed one minor error you might have corrected off camera. You raised the transmission up and started draining ATF side TransferCase Oil I was waiting for you to lower the transmission to make sure all of the oil got out of it. Just something I noticed. Im a bit of a gear head myself and love working on my B9 S4 instead of having a shop touch it. Keep up the good work, everyone in the B9/9.5 community will thank you for this video as their is almost no video’s on how to do all the transmission and transfer case oil changes. Best, Chase

    When filling the engine oil either don’t reinstall the oil filter or pull the dipstick plug. It helps to displace the air in the engine and the oil will fill faster and gurgle less.

    In my opinion, engine oil change correct steps are: * Take out the oil filter (first) * lift the vehicle Undo oil drain plug (drain the old oil) * Tight the drain plug Lower down the vehicle * instal new oil filter (change O ring) * Filled up with new oil (quantity as per manual) If you do not take out the oil filter before draining the oil there's about 0.7 l old oil left in the engine from the oil filter housing and lines.

    Correct, this can happen because with no top ventilation, a vacuum can occur and fluid can stay trapped. It's best practice to crack your oil fill cap and remove the oil filter before draining for proper flow.

    I would suggest draining it while the transmission is warm, not hot, not cold. Also the fluid will drain quicker when it’s hot or warm.

    Hi! Very helpful, was searching for all the oils in one place I didnt understand why you bought the gearbox kit (which contains 9 liters of gearbox oil) and then bought another 2 liters of it separately (VAG-G060162A2) Also, do you know if sport differential somehow differs? I heard it has "a second part" where oil needs to be changed (Audi S5 F5)

  • @Need4Built

    @Need4Built

    Жыл бұрын

    The gearbox kit from FCP only gives you 4 qt’s which is how much you need for just a flush and refill. However if you’re dropping the transmission pan you need 6 qt’s to refill. The transmission holds 9qt’s but you can only drain out so much unfortunately. Yeah the sport differential has a different fill procedure which I couldn’t find anywhere. It requires 1.3 qt’s of fluid however.

For example the RS5 has a service interval while the S4/S5/SQ5 with the same drivetrain, doesn’t. Concerning the 5w-40 oil, there are a ton of factors, but also there is some truth to the emissions, gas mileage, and less maintenance cost for marketing reasons. Maybe if Audi sees this video, they can reach out to me an provide answers. Also those Audi engineers never expected these cars to push 700+HP

    Also 'NEVER' replace coolant. It's not part of maintenance schedule for a reason. It will outlast the life of your thermostat and water pump. So when one of those fails, coolant will be one of those things that will be replaced no matter what. PS. If one of those 2 things fails and need to be replaced - thermostat or water pump- just replace them both as It will save you over $1200 down the road. It's the same labor cost to get to that spot. So you'll just pay the price of the part to get it replaced (if you do both at the same time).

Even if you refilled your car with the “wrong” coolant which you really shouldn’t mix the Oem coolant with off brand coolant… the fact that it went down again would indicate possible coolant loss? Alldata was inaccurate on that one thing it seems. Happy I caught it and updated it in the description as well as changed mine. I was told by another Audi technician that it’s not an issue but the red top is what’s actually needed. Fixed! The other weird thing is when I searched up my vin, that’s the fluid that popped up instead of the red top. Happy I caught it.

    Service schedules are driven by lease companies and a 4 year life time, in those years the cost of servicing needs to be as low as possible that’s why there are, no more 1000 mile run in service and 2 year 20,000 mile service schedules are the norm, plus phrases like ‘life time, sealed’ units… This is NOT driven by advancements in engineering, design or materials. Manufactures and lease companies have worked together so most vehicles will last the warranty and lease periods then they just don’t care. ZF who manufacture the gearbox states a service schedule. If you don’t intend to do big miles or keep a car 5 years plus then follow what Audi, BMW, Mercedes etc say otherwise follow ZF or better still service more often.

    If u have the q5 sq5 Audi service schedule manual, there it says to change stronic oil every 60k km, change the oil in haldex coupling every 60k km /4 years. And changing oil in sport differential every 60k km. Changing brake fluid every 2 years regardless of kms.
