Replacing a damaged door threshold.

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Door threshold repair. I'm trying to take care of some things around the shop. This threshold has been an issue for a while. Still more repair work to do to the door frame/trim.

Excellent step by step instructions are very clear and concise, Jo Daddy....keep up the good work, sir. I ran into a situation of a 40 year or older recessed home made cellar door with a rotted out wood threshold held in place on the inside by mortar on cement lip. The MD aluminum threshold with rubber insert was a much better solution than another wood threshold. The cement was all eroded on each side so I placed boards inside and outside into cement as forms and raised the height a minimum of one inch (on ends 2 inches) and poured ready set cement. In two hours I had new level, attractive start for the threshold installation. Water had continuous leaked into this client's home over the years and this project was part of rehabbing the door, installing french drains, add exterior recessed cement pad with two steps and adding adjoining dry well of 3/4" crushed stone. Client was on budget so I made the best of the situation and of course no more water problems.

Thanks for the help. I did not think about the holes on the base needing to align with the holes on channel. Needless to say, after trimming both to the proper length the holes did not match up. Luckily they were not too off. The center two holes aligned but the outside holes didn't. Just had to drilled the channel holes out a little. Not pretty but the seal covers them up.

This video appeared & I clicked because of the title. Tell you what its April, it's Spring, the birds sound wonderful after a long cold Winter (Indiana) any how, my garage door bottom rubber has totally rotted away, if you look at the door from my deck Oh yeah you can see daylight probably 1.5-2" believe it or not I have had the same Threshold out in the garage for almost 2 yrs. I got fruastrated with the directions & not understanding HOW to install it I gave up. I will be following along when the weather here warms up so I can install it, of course I'll have to rent a tool or buy the bit to drill into my cement floor, you don't know how much this will help me & I sure appreciate your video. Thank you, thank you! PS: its the small things that turn out to be big issues for me

no inserts required for concrete, just use 1-3/4" long 3/16ths tapcons, for extra prevention of any water penetration, add a bead of window and door sealer along the back edge if the aluminum of where you screw down (the inside side of where your screws go in) and around the screw hole. Also, dont forget to seal the sides from the front edge of the door itself back to the inside.
