This video helped so much! I stopped calling appliance guys after the last time my fridge wasn't cooling and my appliance came, and swapped out a $15 fan in 5 min and charged me $250. Now I fix all my own appliances via KZread videos! Guys like you who take the time to explain how to fix things step by step ate a godsend!

One of the best DIY Video’s on KZread! The only step I will add at least in my application was when trying to get a picture and then remove the belt I couldn’t reach well. One screw on the back removes the vent tube and provides a ton more access and ease.
Awesome video..I must say that only after seeing this video, I could gather the courage to open up my machine. had seen plenty of other videos.. good ones. but this video really goes step by step .. to the point.. and has no looong lengthy talks... precise , concise, and clear... Thank you.. I was thinking of replacing my Samsung dryer but will try this remedy for sure.. Thanks for the video! My rollers froze up with so much rubber and gunk and the repair guy wanted $700 to fix. Only cost $30 and an hour and a half of my time thanks to you. Thanks for your great video. Helped me to see the steps to replace the drum rollers, tension pully and belt. I agree the belt routing is a tricky step. Reach around using both hands to remount the belt to the motor and tension wheel. Here are a few hacks to help others. Use several small magnets and stick the screws from each part to the part. I had about 7-8 magnets. Lay the removed parts in order of removal and reverse to install. having the screws with each part made it simple. Also, get a breaker bar for the 17 mm nut. The nut was fastened very tight, In addition get yourself a small stool to sit on while working... Recommend to take multiple pictures and videos of your process to ensure you can put it back together correctly. Again many thanks for you excellent video.

No-pro tip: After taking apart my car dash and ending up with an extra screw, I watched a KZread video and the guy suggested using a (plastic) small parts compartment organizer to keep track of screws and small parts. Sharpie a corresponding bin# on the object (eg dryer) or masking tape stuck onto it. Silver lining, when you have to replace the element in the future, the screw holes are already numbered! Lol. No-pro tip #2: Tension and hold the idler pulley assembly with a (small/medium) trigger clamp. It'll make slipping the belt on one handed easy. Right after placing the drum and slipping the belt on, and *before* installing the bulkhead, release and remove the trigger clamp with one hand.
Great video, I just fixed ours. It was the idler arm but I bought a kit with the arm, rollers and belt. Worked like a charm.
Thank you so much for this great video. I used your link to buy the parts. Really appreciate the step by step detail for both disassembly and reassembly. It took me about 4 hours. Toughest part was the control panel removal clips in front (I used a hanger to loop them and pull them toward me). My dryer is only 5 years old and one of the wheel bearings was completely gone and fell off. It’s so quite now!

Feel obligated to comment after how useful this was. I will say I balked and paused the video to install the new pin shafts but was glad to see you commented the recommendation to switch all 4. If they come with new equipment, prob means you should replace it. Also only the lower 2 screws need to come out from behind the door. The two on the left hold the door mount plate. I only comment this as one of mine stripped out on removal, had to slot it with the grinder and use a large flat head then realized on assembly that this didn't need to be touched in the first place. Great content.
Awesome tutorial, I repaired mine today with your help ! Really appreciate your video ! Take care.

Ok so I’m back. Totally surprised and thrilled that you wrote to me. Here’s what happened. I plugged in the dryer and tried it out before we put it on the stand. Holding my breath, I pushed the on button. Wow, lights😁. Then I turned it on all the way OMG! It’s running 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻. I changed the rollers, the belt and the little white thing (might be called a pulley). I’m 72 years old and very proud of my self. I do realize I couldn’t have done it without your fabulous directions. My husband is legally blind so all but the heavy stuff was up to me. There’s just one thing I have to ask about. We only ran it for a couple of minutes while we hugged with joy. 😁😁😁. When we shut it off we could smell a little smoke. Is this normal? We don’t have it vented to the outside yet. I’m not nervous, just a little curious if its normal because of all the new rubber stuff inside. I can’t thank you enough. I could try, but I’m pooped. 😂🤣 You are now my “go to place” when ever I need help. Thank you and May God Bless you. Carol Homan.

Also, there's an old Samsung video on replacing the drum rollers (here on YT) that shows how to put the entire roller assembly on (which, it seems you ended up doing) as well as how to reattach the belt properly. Replacing the belt is not that difficult, just counterintuitive. I highly suggest watching it. It had some great info. There is also another video (equally as old) that shows how to replace the rollers without removing the drum and pulley at all....if you want to do that.

I have assorted screws from various diy projects.
I've had to take this whole dryer apart 3 or 4 times now because of broken rollers or broken belt. Because it's so hard to get the belt around the motor and idler pulley, and such a tight space, I used an alligator clamp to hold the pulley in position prior to putting the drum back on. Once everything was fully secured back together, I reached through the vent hole in the back to release the clamp. Good luck everyone!

Thanks for this very useful video. Few inputs. (1) I didn't have to remove the 2 screws shown at @2:30--2:33 in my model DV42H5200EF/A3.. I removed one of them but the other I couldn't, possible due to these 2 screws not having washers (and also rusty). Ended up ruining my screw bits. Left that one screw as is and tried pulling the front door panel. Turns out these 2 screws hold the door lock panel. (2) I had a tough time removing the front panel because of those 2 tabs at the bottom. Nudging those plastic didn't help. Broke them. Hope the panel can still lock in :( and (3) MOST IMPORTANTLY, the inner edges of all these panels are sharp as knife, so be very careful when you slide your hand inside to compress a plastic tab or try to unhook the switches.

For anyone watching this, there’s no way you are going to be able to get those back roller bolts off without removing the back plate. The bolts were so stuck I needed to use a torch to loosen them. I really wish they decided to include video on this because it is by far the hardest part to do carefully. Additionally when you remove the entire back plate you will likely need to move the heating element around. If you are not careful, you will smash the fragile igniter inside. I recommend removing the igniter (plenty of KZread videos on that) or being extremely careful.

I wonder if we also need to grease those roller bolts?
If you want to save money you can just as easily take your rollers and tensioner pulley off and grease them and reinstall original parts. The metal bearing on the metal shaft is where the squeak/screech comes from.

Only thing I would add is the metal edges inside the machine are unfinished and are VERY sharp. I cut myself pretty bad on the top of the front panel that houses the door

I just noticed my stainless drum is cracked at the old welding area in the back section the crack goes about 3" towards the center curving a bit. I guess that area is the the rollers slide. I am thinking to give a try to welding to fix the crack does the felt at the ends come off easily? What do you think of the idea to gave it welded? Or do you recommend to dump it? Thanks for the great video!

Thanks for watching, we haven’t tried welding one before however we had a viewer mention he did that a few times in his rental properties. He said it held up great however we can’t confidently say it’s the best way to go.
Nice. Do you use lube on the rollers? Does your idler pully bracket have any play near the bolt on the spindle?
@DIYwithMichaelBorders

Thanks for watching, we did not apply any lubricant to rollers. The drum belt will add the tension to idler pulley bracket which will alleviate any loose play. Hope this helps. How were you able to get a camera back there to take a picture of the belt routing?

We have gotten as far as trying to get the door panel off. However we can't unplug the electrical cord that is connected to it. you make it look easy in your video but ours will not unplug. Any suggestions?

Did you put wheel grease or lubricant on the rollers? I'm a little concerned that A LOT of people who bought that set (which I've been looking at myself) have stated that the new/replacement rollers fell apart after just a few uses. I wonder if it's because they didn't put lubricant or grease on the rollers. I'm wondering if that set will work fine with my DV48J7700GW/A2.

Thanks for watching, we recommend purchasing Samsung OEM parts. Samsung machines tend to work better with OEM parts as the are 100% compatible. Aftermarket parts may fail prematurely due to less quality.
Thank you! May the peace and blessings of Jesus be with you!!

Would this also fix a loud grinding noise as well?
@DIYwithMichaelBorders

Thanks for watching. This can cause grinding however a more likely reason your machine is making grinding noises is because of a worn out motor.
