REPLACE OUTSIDE STOVE VENT HOOD.

Shows how to replace an outside stove vent hood for a second floor condo.
First we had to set up an extension ladder on a stairway.
Then we had to figure out how the vent hood was secured into the wall.
Then we used a channel lock pliers to pry the vent hood out of the wall.
Then installed the new stainless steel vent hood.

I spent more time watching ladder maneuvering than what I actually needed to see.

Is it too much to ask to mount this vent behind the siding, screw it into the OSB or whatever material they've used, buy some J-channel to cut and go around the vent that the siding can be fed into? That way it will look half-way decent.

Yes, that would be the professional way to install it. Depends mainly on what the homeowner wants. We reinstalled the vent as it was done before,

Get some articulating ladder levelers and you won't need to use cinder blocks anymore. Good job working in a difficult stairway

Your ladder stabilization device is set up wrong. They should be mounted the same under the rung. Your asking for a problem... I wouldn’t want to see you fall.

See the video at 3:33. Try counting the sections of siding from the top of the handrail to the vent, looks like 8 - each section is 4" wide, so 8 x 4 equals 32" from the handrail up to the vent. From the handrail horizontally to the vent is about two feet. (The far end of the vent is over two feet.) So to reach the vent from the deck above would require a step ladder. (The step ladder has to be facing the house.) So, once you are up on the stepladder, you would be almost three feet above the handrail, and reaching out sideways over two feet to the vent, with a 15 foot drop below. Also, you have to look inside the vent for screws or other fasteners. I'm afraid my arms and neck were too short. Thanks for the comment!

@@seangworld thanks for comments, I went back to the video to remember why I couldn't reach the vent from above.

The deck design is very bad on this property! They never think of future maintenance for sure!
