Replace Fuel Filter DON'T NEGLECT THIS! Mitsubishi Evo Evolution TME 6.5 Service

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

I perform a Fuel Filter change on a Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution TME Evo VI. It is the special SNGF2 Tommi Makinen Edition CP9a model :)
I used a genuine Mitsubishi Fuel Filter in this video and new copper gaskets too. Snap-on flare nut wrench is handy to use on this job. DIY
I enjoy using my Snap-on Tools but I can review your tools too!

    Awesome vid Andy !!! I must be one of those O.C.D crazy CP owners that actually replace the fuel filter every 20,000 kms and/or 2yrs.

    Thanks very much Will. Good idea! It's really not too difficult to do the job and the recommended service interval of 60,000kms seems way too much. But I guess the sock filter on the pump keeps most of the dirt out of the fuel lines.

    Very nicely executed job and video.Just did this work on my evo6 tme aswell.And as with your car...it was not looking exactly like it was replaced " when it shoudve been " :) Eitherway..as you said..very nice to get this one replaced..i mean..afterall its one of the most crucial filters to get replaced ,Greetings from Norway ,Stefan

    @@UzumakiGarage my pleasure mister :) That would be awesome if you did that.I have done quite some research on filters for my ex Ford Sierra Rs Cosworth that i restored.And in the run in procedure..i cut open alot of the oil filters i used..especially to find out which ones were the best quality.And i was amazed to find that the genuine OE Motorcraft (Ford ) filters..were most likely to be FRAM filters..which is basically the shittiest filters known to mankind.Poor design of the pressurevalve inside, less filter material,and poorer filter material. So long story short..i have done alot of oil changes on my Evo recently,,as it is a " new car" to me...so i would love to cut open the genuine OE Mitsubishi filters to see how they look like inside.Lets go :) Again, thank you for awesome video :) Greetings ,Stefan

    Man you get the camera into some crazy places. Did the copper washers come with the new fuel filter or did you have to purchase those separately?

  • @UzumakiGarage

    Haha yeah i think i used an old GoPro tucked down behind the gearbox for some shots to help show what Im doing. The copper washers are part number MB906711. They were not included with the filter. Good idea to replace them. Are you changing your filter too?

    @@UzumakiGarage honestly until I watched this I didn't even think about it. Right now I'm kind of leaving the engine alone until I determine if I need to replace it sooner rather than later. But eventually all maintenance items are on the table.

    How far by hand should the fuel line be seeded into the filter? And the threads do I cover the nozzle that the fuel comes out and then tighten it down or send the nozzle into the filter first then tighten?

  • @UzumakiGarage

    @UzumakiGarage

    I don't fully understand your questions and its been a few years since the last time I was doing this job but you should be able to screw the fuel pipe fitting quite a few turns into the filter by hand. Thats important so you don't damage the pipe fitting threads. Then I keep this pipe fitting quite loose while screwing the bracket bolt onto the chassis (again by hand) to get it aligned correctly, then i gradually take turns tightening the pipe fitting and mounting bolt a bit at a time.

    Would you say Evo's are easy to work on compared to other cars?

  • @UzumakiGarage

    @UzumakiGarage

    I find them pretty easy to work on but they are far more complicated mechanically compared to cars that aren't All Wheel Drive. I much prefer working on Evos compared to Subaru though
