Very helpful video - thanks for doing this. I ended up replacing the passenger side directional without removing the whole unit, but watching your video helped me understand I could use that wing (or whatever its called) to grab onto to remove the bulb. The passenger side is less cluttered, so it was easier to get at. I just detached the wiring harness and took off one of the covers to give myself a little more room. Really nice and thorough job. Thanks again.

Thanks so much. On later models, the third bolt was deleted, and I was confused at first. Knew the housing was still attached and found this video. Kudos!

Seriously just had someone tell me they had to remove my whole Bumper and charge about $300 to do this to my Sonota same year... so thankful I found this video and I’m about to change mine myself! 🙌🏼🙌🏼

I just replaced the left turn signal bulb on our '07 Sonata - two screws is all that holds the headlight, whole thing took me 10 minutes. Ours had the fast flashing issue. Thank you for making this video.

Much appreciated. Followed this and saved money. One modification I did was to use a flexible extension bar to get to that interior screw.

Fortunately, my hands were small enough to reach back there without taking the whole thing off. No tools necessary! There is indeed room for the bulb (and thing it's attached to) to come out. It's a bit tricky, though, since you do run the risk of dropping it and you have to navigate it through the tight space around the other cables and such. Might have helped if I unplugged the cables first.

Hi Julio. Good idea. You are exactly correct. I had to replace this bulb on my other Sonata and was able to do what you did. It was tricky and slow. If I remember, I might have used my teenage daughter to help reach in as she has much smaller hands. After I was done, I turned the lights on and the bulb didn't come on. I thought at first I broke the bulb putting it in. But, then found that I hadn't pushed the power cable all the way in. Hope you have a great day.

Not all headlights have three bolts. Mine only had two on each side.

I tried my darndest to get to the third bolt and finally gave up and went back to AutoZone and had them do it. They had to watch the video too. Got a little laugh after that. BUT THE VIDEO DID HELP!!! THANK YOU!

If you see the bulb lighting and flashing fast, that means that bulb is fine and your rear bulb is burned out. They share a circuit and flasher mechanism which operates based on the load it sees. If your flashers are fast, find the one - rear or front - that ISN’T flashing at all. That’s the bulb that needs changing. Once the flasher sees the load of both bulbs the speed will be normal.

By way of additional explanation, there is a reason the quickly flashing bulb looked weak in the original poster’s description and it is NOT because the bulb was faulty, which it was not. A filament has mass which requires time to heat and as a result reach full brightness. Flashing at approximately double the intended rate results in a flash considerably less than half the design intensity. The depicted bulb was not faulty and would return to normal brightness at the design flashing rate. I know this does not seem to comport with the findings of the original poster, but I stand by this solidly.

Thanks for the nice feedback. I didn't notice a way to take the lighting case apart. It seemed like a sealed unit. But, I could be wrong. You might break it trying to get it apart. I also own a 2003 Dodge Grand Caravan and I finally had to buy a set of replacement headlights this past summer. None of the headlight cleaners that I tried made them any better. I bought the replacement headlights on e-bay from Car Parts Wholesale for a reasonable price. These made such a huge difference in the night time driving. hyundai sonata yf 2010. My driver's side turn signal is flashing rapidly. All bulbs are bright. I changed the light bulb but it still blinks fast. Can you help me where the fuse and turn signal relay are located? thank you very much.

Hi Vanessa. I couldn't say exactly because I've never done it on a 2009. But, I checked on youtube, and these World Mechanics guys say that the procedure for taking out the headlight is the same for 2006 through 2010 Sonatas.
