This really helped me. I saw elsewhere that you have to take the wheel and bumpers off to do this, but you showed that with a little effort and not being scared to scratch your hands a little, you can do this quite easily. Thanks man! Saved me a tonne of time!

This is a great video and enabled me to change the bulbs without hours of garage labour. However if your clio has air conditioning the right hand side is even harder to get at. I detached the air con pipes form the engine bay fittings and was able to lift them up a bit to get access, in this case refitting the connector was super fiddly and took quite a while. but thanks again!

I am glad I could help. I understand you perfectly. Is your car a diesel or does it has the driver wheel UK style? Because my car has AC and is is doable without removing any AC pipes. If that was my case I would've not been able to do so.

There is another "great feature" of Renault Clio mk3 bulbs: THEY DIE IN PAIRS. When one bulb goes off, it must be triggering some surge in the circuit or something else that kills the other bulb too. Just think about this great piece of engineering! It just happened to me in a rainy night. AWESOME. They guy from the Assistance who helped me said, that Clio mk3 are known for this. I'm so excited to be driving this engineering masterpiece from France!

:))) I am really sorry for your inconvenience, although i must admit it didn't happen to me. On my car only 1 went out at a time. But yeah, Renault cars are known for a lesser quality electric system.

I am glad for you. The more you'll do it the easier it'll get. On the high beams the best way is to install the power plug on the bulb first then clip it into the fitting like that and job's done :). Be careful not to touch the glass of the bulb.

I found it easier to put the bulb into the black connector BEFORE replacing it into the light fixture. Then I was able to put bulb and connector at the same time by lining up the the notch at 12 o'clock position, and pushing the black connector at position 3 and then 9. This especially worked well on the more difficult drivers side. You may have to try and keep the connector wires out of the way by pulling/holding them back with one finger while pushing the connector forward.

You can do that also, bur because of the short length of the power cables you'll risk to touch the glass of the bulb or at least scratch it's surface on the sharp edges of the back of the headlamp or the engine bay. That's why I do it like this, focusing on the clean insert of the bulb first. The more you replace them the more you'll get the feel of it and it'll be easier and easier.

If you have teenage children, get them to help, as the space behind these lights is insanely small if your hands are... well normal size... Also on my UK Diesel model I find removing the battery cover helpful to change the nearside bulb.

It's ironic how it's much easier to change a bulb on the Clio 4 compared to the Clio 3, sometimes modern cars are not always hard to “repair.”

That is a very bad thing. You'll have to replace the entire headlamp. Whoever changed the bulb pulled it out in a straight line with force. it isn't correct like that. beware. the headlamp is really expensive...

I don't think there is such a thing. But either way in order to use that screw you need a special equipment to measure the beam height. Keep it safe and adjust the lights only from the interior of the car. If you want to use the screwdriver you need the lens measurement. Without it you'll mess the pattern up.

Hi wow nice I have question my gf clio same as here but it's 2006 and has lens on low beams, but it's shine strange, does it fitted wrong or I must polish headlight? In high beam area they plastic headlight is clean but at low beam lens part it's for my side requires polish but I'm not sure.

Definitely polish the headlamp to be crystal clear and also look at the bulb and make sure is fitted all the way into place and doesn't light up in the trees on in other way.

Salut! Multumesc mult de apreciere. Becurile de pozitie poti sa le schimbi tragand pur si simplu de firele lor de aprindere, insa nu brusc pt a le rupe :) Ar trebui sa iasa din soclul respectiv cu usurinta fiindca este din plastic. Tragi de fire usor si sigur atat timp cat simti ca nu rupi nimic pe acolo. Apoi la reintroducere tot asa poti sa te folosesti doar de fire, becul de pozitii fiind deja introdus in soclu. Pentru faza scurta pur si simplu e nevoie de antrenament. Eu am mainile si degetele destul de lungi si mai subtiri, asa ca reusesc sa le schimb. Nu trebuie sa dai jos nici farul, nici gatul de la vasul de Stropgel. Insa trebuie saiti sufleci manecile si sa te zgarii putin pe antebrate...Asta-i realitatea.

No, the mounting system is already installed and it has some snap-on system. You gotta be careful when you take the bulb out not to break the things insiode there because otherwise the bulb will not be fixed anymore and will move or fall out of place in the future.

Hi did you have to remove the battery to enable you to change the bulb in one of the headlights? As i have a Renault clio mk3 2011 and the battery is restricting my access to change the passenger side bulb.

@@samjef11SamJtechgeek Can you take a picture of it. What you are saying doesn't make sense. You should have the engine block exactly like mine. The battery is on the drivers side and you can access, if you have thinner hands, all the headlights, just like you saw me do in this video.

You can do that, but you will increase the chances of touching the glass of the bulb on the edges and I assure you that way you'll decrease the lifespan of the bulb. As you can see the engineers from Renault managed to make such a tight space for the bulb replacement and also the lenght of the power cables to be as short as possible, not to allow you to change the bulbs easily, unless you get good at it and do as I did here. As I said I done that once, but I can guarantee you'll touch the glass of the bulb. Not to mention if you have bigger hands with thick fingers, it's game over bulb in 2 weeks.

My 2009 Clio3 still has the retaining clips. My problem is, I can't get the connecting plug off of the bulb. I pull so hard that the bulb moves back against the clip, but the wiring connector just will not come off. Is there some clip or notch that I need to press??? I REALLY don't want to have to remove that front. 😕😕😕

Take the bulb out connected with the power plug attached to it. If you want to replace them anyway you won't be disappointing when you will touch the glass of the bulb. Like that then swivel the bulb out of the plug.

@@m3rovingian I tried that, but that doesn't allow me to release the clip and swing it out of the way to remove the bulb. The plug and wire pass through the clip. I'll keep trying. This procedure was much easier on my old Twingo. 😏😏😏

@@robertkelly1434 You must be able to do it. Just press down on 6 o'clock an tilt if from 12 o'clock and it will snap out of place while you pull gently towards the engine bay

Hey ho!!! I finally had the time to work on the car again, but I did have to remove the bumper. Fortunately, another user had posted a step by step video... in Spanish... on how that's done. It took a bit of time, but the bumper is now sitting in my garage. I got a big surprise, however, when I removed the defective bulb. It's not an H7 at all, it's an H1!!! So, here I am, with a disassembled car, and two beautiful new Philips White Vision Ultra bulbs. I'll replace those anyway, but I'll need to take the bus into town on Monday, and try to find suitable H1 bulbs to match the Philips H7s.... Oh well, at least I know now how to remove that bumper. Hopefully I can get it back on properly. 😏😏😏

Multumesc mult. Eu abia astept sa vad Synthoil cu Ceratec. La eMag vad ca incep sa le reduca. Chiar si cel 0W40 e la perturi mai lumesti. 234 lei /5L. Fusese 270+. Am venit iar de la Bucuresti. A fost accident, cred frontal, pe Valea Prahovei. O sa incarc filmarea cu mobilul.

m3rovingian Hmm...Nu stiu cat merita 0w40 avand in vedere ca la ei 5w40 e chiar sintetic....poate pt vreme rece insa si 5w40 synthoil se descurca binisor....dar daca vrei pt test, inteleg perfect- stiu cum e :))) ! LE : ai grija la pretul redus, sa nu fie stoc vechi...

:D Da chiar am ramas uimit. In trecut 4.3 fusese cel mai bun consum. A fost drumul liber, mai ales in Bucuresti si as ajutat mult asta pe final. oricum 4.2 aveam deja cand abia trecusem de Ploiesti si s-a mentinut pana la destinatie. Insa am condus clar setat pe regim eco. Numai frana de motor, la greu, anticipare de trafic in giratoriile de pe varianta Ploiestiului, franat cat mai putin, accelerat usor si schimbat viteze la maxim 2500 sau imediat cum imi indica in bord sa schimb. Vezi ca la intoarcere a urcat si cand am ajuns acasa s-a oprit la 4.7, fiindca am pornit clima, plus ca am urcat Predealul :)

Salut, poti sa ma indrumi si pe mine legat de becuri? Am Clio 3 1,5 dci si nu prea stiu ce becuri sa-i pun si cum functioneaza. Un singur bec poate fi folosit si pentru faza lunga si pentru faza scurta?Astept raspuns, mersi!!!

Salut. pai banuiesc ca ai aceleasi becuri H7 ca mine. iti vor trebui 4 daca vrei sa schimbi ambele faze. Masina are becuri separate. Ia Philips WhiteVision 3700k si nu vei regreta. Doar sa nu te astepti la alb pur de xenon. Daca nu vrei sa dai prea multi bani cumpara doar 2 becuri si pune-le pe faza scurta. Pe faza lunga merge orice.

@@m3rovingian Nu am asa mari pretentii, momentan, avand in vedere ca masina e luata de curand.Am observat ca s-a dus becul de pozitie pe fata, o sa iau niste 5w5 si daca tot iau becuri am zis sa iau si pentru momentul cand se duc cele de faza lunga si faza scurta.Am vazut pe siteuri (si in carte :D) ca masina suporta H1 pt faza lunga si H7 pt faza scurta si am obs ca nu merge sa le interschimbi, gen H7 cu H4. Pentru H7 ma gandeam la un Osram H7 Night Breaker Silver +100% si pt H1 un Osram H1 Night Breaker Silver +100. Fac pariu ca le-ai avut :)))) cum ti s-au parut?

You have to remove the bulb with the power cables still attached to it then struggle with both hands to remove the bulb from the power plug. After that you do the entire process backwards. You connect first the halogen to the power plug then you struggle to insert it in the H7 fitting with the power cable and plug already attatched. Otherwise it's not possible.

@@m3rovingian It s still very hard the best way is to remove the batery with all the suport but still is not a good option..In one word very stupid thing from reno just to change a bulb you need a mecanic. Cred ca esti Roman pentru ca am văzut numarul de la masina,la mine la reno 2006 modelul in 2 usi pe partea cu bateria este aproape imposibil sa pot scoate Faza lunga si poziția, Faza scurta este ok cu puțină bataie de cap o pot schimba ca este mai în lateral dar Faza lungă si poziția sunt in dreptul suportului de baterie si credema ca trebuie sa ai mâini foarte flexibile sa reușești. Insa o sa încerc cum ai zis tu.

@@predictionandtips Te inteleg. perfect. Asta e design-ul frantuzesc :) Si mie mi-au spus in trecut mecanicii ca vor sa dea jos spoilerul ca sa-mi schimbe becurile. Am zis ca nu-s normali la cap. Asta m-a ambitionat sa invat sa le schimb eu. Este intr-asdevar spatiu foarte ingust. Insa ce sa facem? Sa luam ceva de la VAG si sa ne consume 1 litru de ulei la 1000km? :)

@@borec326 It's mounted underneath the front bumper behind the grille. If you have the facelift model, you need to remove the front bumper to access it, which is not a simple job. I tried to do it myself but had to give up, as some of the bumper mountings are very difficult to access with normal tools. If your mechanical skills aren't the greatest, it's probably easier to pay to have it done professionally

You don't need to remove the battery, but you need to be able at least to reach the bulbs.

I pulled down and backwards. No way to take the bulb out. My model has no metal clip.

Superb video, by the way, I wish I knew before the importance of the 12 o' clock positioning. Maybe it's UK only, but i recall there was a VERY annoying metal clip type of thing that went over the back of bulb's 2 prongs. I HOPE this isn't specifically extra headache for UK Clios!!!

@@bacardi2324 Yeah. in my case you see it's that snap on locking system without the extra metal wires like in the case of VW or other cars. Just take your time and don't rush it the first time. And whatever you do don't pull it out by forcing it. If you do it right it'll be very easy.
