Thank you for the video, but did you know that the filter could be replaced without removing anything but the filter? Just unsnap the two clips and lift the cover, takes about 30 seconds, my Jag is an '02, perhaps the difference?

This gentleman is right to remove the box because if don't remove the box is 99.9% chance the clips will brake. I have 2005 s-type and it happen to me.. I was thinking like all you folks up there ..good job 😀

Thanks Brian. Just done mine with a K&N air filter. The difference is amazing your video helped a lot.

Wish I'd looked at this first 🙄, absolute barsteward to do it in situ, even looking at you doing it those tab inserts in the end are just straight up awkward. Managed to get it back together again after about 5 tries but will definitely do it your way next time, better to spend more time taking it out than risk breaking something wrestling with it ilunder the bonnet. Great tutorial!

on my 2008 3.0 v6 s type, the air filter was able to be accessed without removing the entire intake tube...only have to disconnect the sensor and pop the tabs on the filter box, super ez!

This guy would likely pull the entire engine to change out the spark plugs. As for my 2007 air filter, when I took it to get the oil changed, the tech simply removed one screw, popped open the cover and removed the filter for inspection. Then put it back in and popped it back closed again...without removing the entire assembly. While I realize that sometimes the clips break off inadvertently if you don't exercise utmost care, I was able to pop the cover off and replace the filter without removing the whole damn air handling assembly, and did NOT break off any clips.

for my 02 Jaguar s.type 4.0 it only has two clips.i popped them raised top just enough to pull old filter out and slide new one.just min and was done..

Replaced one on an 06 that was mostly not functional because someone THOUGHT they had it shoved in there correctly without using the correct procedure.

What about xj 2,7D , any videos or are you working only on your car ?

Hi - yes we mainly show work we perform on our three S Types which includes the popular STR 4.2 model. However we do occasionally get involved with other models as and when those opportunities arise. Daniel M Hi Daniel If I understand your question correctly the two halves of the filter box clip together. When in the vehicle the filter box is secured to the body with 1x bolt. Hope this helps. Cheers Brian aka "The Old Man" jagTV

Hi Daniel, We haven't done an air filter on the 2000 model but I know it's a little different. A number of owners have said you can just unclip the filter box to remove the filter. The method I employed on mine is Jag text book procedure. Sorry I can't be of more help. Cheers Brian aka "The Old Man" JagTV

@@jaaagtv Yes, you probably can stick a short K&N in there with a two clip pop and some poking BUT , this shows how to approach this correctly. Especially, if it was seldom or never done correctly since 2006 like my S-type. Thanks for showing how to remove parts for proper cleaning and treatment.

Why such a lengthy dismantling process? The two quick release fasteners make it a 30 second job.

i can't believe that when u change the sparks plugs u almost remove the engine:) simply remove only the air filter head cover and put new one ...!

Hi, This video shows how to replace the Air Filter in a Jaguar S Type 3.0L 2005MY Facelift Model. The VIN is between M45255-N52047. The mass air flow sensor (MAF) electrical connector must be disconnected and the air cleaner outlet pipe removed in order to access the air filter element on this particular model. +Marcus “techknight” Zizzo Hi, I take your point as it is valid for some models and "there's always more than one way to skin a cat" as the saying goes. However the procedure will vary depending on the car's VIN. The 2.5L and 3.0L have two methods. 1) VIN M45255->N52047 - 2) VIN N52048->N99999 - The VIN of the car in the video falls in the first group. Thanks again. Brian "The Old Man" - JagTV

If you look at the video the cover is navel to slide left, off the two lugs due to the position of the air tube. Therefore, the only way to do the job properly is as is shown. Although, because there is a protrusion from the bottom of the box, it would have been easier to have the protrusion lodged in a vacant hole on the car, such as the radiator cowl clip holes, to stop it moving around so much. I personally have just changed my filter on my 2.7d. There are two air pipes that need to be removed, with two airflow sensor electrical connections and a vacuum tube. The way shown in the video is the official Jaguar way. According to my manual.

I agree i think this bloke is removing far too much and making it far to complicated.

You should have taken the engine out first dude
