Yes like her comparison between robbed of $1000 and not being content with just an apology of the criminal, with an apology for slavery being insufficient. Except...... You're not asking for your money back from the theif. You're asking for the thief's great great grandchildren and everyone else's progeny to pitch in a dollar and hand it to *your* great great grandchildren. Not asking, actually demanding through threat of imprisonment making *them* a slave.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe the lawsuits with Native American tribes were successful because those were Treaties with sovereign nations that still exist. Reparations to interned Japanese Americans were only made to survivors. That is why priority was given to the oldest survivors, because they would become ineligible if they died. Regardless, The only thing certain about reparations is that it won't make anyone happy. They will be unhappy because they didn't get any. Because they think they should have gotten more. Because it was paid to people who are not descendants of slaves. Because they, or their parents moved to a different country and that makes them ineligible. And for all kinds of reasons. But mostly because it will do absolutely nothing to change the circumstances of black Americans. Which is basically the same circumstances as all similarly situated Americans. And General Sherman had no more authority to promise 40 acres and a mule than Colonel Sanders. Your plan will never work because it is unfair and it would set an impossible president. There have been so many wrongs throughout history at some point we are all the same people. Life is not fair. Successful people will be successful. failures will fail no matter how much money you give them. Give everyone opportunity and the successful will succeed. The failures will fail no how much free money they get. I. don't agree with anything you said but I think you speak well and look well. And you are obviously intelligent. There will be no end if you don't cut it off by death. even though 100 billion would be ridiculous but we might be able to come up with some mules.

Fairness? You want to talk about fairness? The Jews are STILL receiving reparations for the holocaust. Israel has received over 90 billion in reparations to date. All the people affected are dead and gone. You all only make these arguments when it comes to blacks. It’s not just about slavery. It’s about the government implementing policies to hold blacks back up until the 60’s and beyond. This country should pay. No one cared about fairness when entire towns would come together to hang black 16 yr olds. People like you will have to face the great evil this nation has perpetuated against black people if you expect to looked at anything other that a hypocrite. You all will go so far to deny what is owed to your fellow black citizens whose ancestors have fought in war after war to preserve the wealth and power of this country, only for the country to relegate us to criminals and permanent underclass status.

Here is the real problem, the colonists did buy the slaves after they were brought to North America but the people who enslaved 95% these people were their fellow black Africans. If you talk about "reparations" you first have to get the funds from Africa nations/tribes who made millions when they sold the slaves. An easy source of information on this is "The Atlantic Slave Trade" which can be found on youtube.

What about a recent migrant from the Slavic countries. They have been enslaved by the millions in the past (hence the word “slave”). This white migrant would also be held accountable for reparations based on his skin color? As would be numerous poor later European migrants who were subject to serfdom and had nothing to do with the slave trade of a small amount of Western Europeans or the slave owners of the south of America (who were by the way not only whites). And what about descendants from the soldiers who were killed in the Civil War. Those soldiers gave their lives to end slavery. Isn’t that enough? You cannot undo racist wrongdoings from the past by racist wrongdoings in the present. It is just doing it wrong again.

You all only use these bs arguments when it comes to blk people. It’s so disingenuous. The Jews have received over 90 billion in reparations. The Japanese received them. Native Americans received them. When black people demand the restitution that was promised to them, you people bring up empires that existed 1000 years ago. It’s disgusting. Slavery is just the tip of the iceberg. No, fighting a war to end slavery is not enough. We fought a war to end the holocaust. The Jews were still paid reparations. Not to mention blacks have fought and died in every war this country has ever seen. Most times they were sent to the front lines. We fought for this country when we couldn’t even sit at the same lunch counter as our white counterparts. Our blood, sweat and tears helped to build this country. At the very least, those poor white farmers kept the fruit of their toil. For 260 years, My ancestors did not. They worked their entire lives, sun up to Sun down to line the pockets of the wealthy and enrich this country through free taxed labor. When we finally did get our freedom, we faced unspeakable terrorism and unfair regulation via Jim Crowe and the Black Codes up until the 60’s. Even after that, you get policies like the war on drugs that the government has admitted was to target blacks and liberal youth. There are several cases where reparations have been paid by governments for wrongdoing. ADOS people are definitely deserving of the same retribution. The US government should pay. Also, whites like to act like they never received handouts. Read up on the Homestead Act. Read up on the GI Bill for solders returning from WW2. Blacks were not allowed to benefit from either of these programs. Reparations is not a handout. It’s a process of restitution.

Pt 2; Quoting from 35:40 "Slavery started in the U.S. in 1600s. ....historically, it is believed that about 400k were originally brought over from Africa. The slave trade really began to rev up in the early 1800s.....by the time the slaves were emancipated, anywhere from 4 to 5 million slaves existed (on this planet." {i think she just mis-spoke, meaning "in the States?"???) Her use of these numbers make it sound like the 4 to 5 million kept coming from Africa. They did not! Only 388,000. Is this ever compared to the tiny island of Barbados who brought over 500,000 or even Brazil who brought 5 to 6 million or the Muslin empires who took 16 to 18 million slaves and routinely castrated all the male slaves? Rarely! The increase in slave numbers in the US came from 200+ yrs of reproduction only. It is often assumed that all African-Americans are directly descended from these slave however many millions more came to this dishonored USA as free people who like most of the world would give everything to come here. I'm saddened by the mis-treatment and crimes committed against anyone. and racism should be a thing of the past. But this "EXPERT" is no expert, get real.

My parents & their ancestors were enslaved by the czars for centuries, & then the Soviets. For good measure, my father was captured by the Nazis & my mother, at age 17, was ripped from her family & sent by the Nazis to Germany into forced labor. They never saw a black person or person of color until 1945 after the allies invaded & they were liberated. Their families didn't know if they survived & they didn't know if their families survived until years later. When they arrived here in 1947, they were dirt poor. The struggle was intense. My father only survived 9 years. My mother was left with a 7 & 5 year old to fend for herself. It was unbelievably difficult for us. What do I or my family owe to whom & for what? What benefits, privileges did we glean from the era of slavery that took place in this country?

The 40 acres belonged to Indians, and was not to be given unless you stole it. Also Indian tribes did not give up their property unless te government paid them which it did. Linclon had no authority on those states that seceeded. Also you never mention about how "Blacks" owned black and white slaves. In the New Orleans area, 28% of free blacks (mulatoos) owned black slaves, 80% of them were women. In South Carolina owned over 30,000. You are not being truthful about the 1965 voting rights agreement. I am a black American just in case you call me a white supremist.

Issuing checks to individuals would really not solve anything. What the USA govt should do is systematic building of infrastructure in the black community, as in all oppressed communities, which include even those which are "white", so-called, such as Appalachia. Fix the inner city, make good education and jobs available, engage in systematic destruction of institutional racism! Seriously if checks were issued to either African-Americans or Appalachians, or to whomever, they'd be spent on consumer goods and the end result would be that nothing has changed.
