i have the same issue with a couch someone gave me... why didn't you stretch out the first layer webbing?

I need to now repair the top side because the springs came loose and fell over.

@@teacherdad I was gifted an old antique couch with bottom web torn. I was quoted $600 to repair the couch is not worth the fix So will try myself
