    Really awesome I have one of the 99x Tiger electronic games (Crash Bandicoot specifically) but it's got a bunch of lines on the display that doesn't work. Would you know of any fixes or somewhere I could look for one? I'm having difficulty finding info on these old games that most people have forgotten

  • @fixedonretro3882

    Yeah these things are getting harder to find and even harder to find any info on them. I am not sure completely on what your issue is. But usually things that control the screens on these things you won’t be able to find to replace unfortunately.

    Here I am trying to track down and destroy every last one of these things and this player is out here fixing them. You're the Batman to my Joker. ;) Nice clear video. Looks great. Does the hydrogen peroxide trick work on yellow Super Nintendos or is that a different phenomenon?

    Can you replace the speaker with any kind of mini speaker or do you need something to mod it to fit any speaker?

  • @fixedonretro3882

    @fixedonretro3882

    So you can replace it with another small speaker, however your sound will not be the same and won’t sound good. Those type of speakers are very specific to make specific noises.

    You did a great job! Do you have any tips for getting the scratches out of a really scratched up screen on these? I'm afraid anything I try will make it worse and less transparent, since its such a soft plastic.

  • @fixedonretro3882

    @fixedonretro3882

    That is one thing I have never tried tackling before. I know these don’t have replacement parts like gameboy etc... but I have always just replaced the lenses. I do know that the toothpaste trick you hear people talk about creates more smaller scratches, so don’t attempt that. I can run some test off of some of my old lenses and let you know if I come up with results.

  • @bullvei1976

    @bullvei1976

    Yeah, I definitely don't trust the toothpaste trick, especially on soft plastic. I'd hate to accidentally make it hazy. I thought of using a dremel cloth buffing wheel on low speed, or maybe a bigger one on a bench grinder, but I've also accidentally melted/scratched plastic with buffing wheels. I guess I need to just buy the cheapest broken one on eBay and do some experimenting. Let me know if you discover any good techniques. Thanks! :)

    Ok I just ran a test on a scratched up gameboy lens. I used 5000 grit sandpaper and wet sanded the lens. I wet the lens and the sandpaper making sure to continue to wet them. Small circular motions and you don’t need to be super aggressive. Yes this will indeed fog up the screen however I followed it up with using a polishing pad and plastix polish using the same method small circular motion. I got really good results for the amount of time I done it. So repeating the method would probably produce even better results. I would just be very careful around the painted portion on the lens, it should be fine but you don’t want to try and improve the lens and then potentially mess the paint up. Hope this has helped you! And as always thanks for the support and interest in my channel!

    Awesome! Thanks for the help! I'll definitely give it a try on some practice plastic, until I get the hang of it. Maybe I can tape off the paint for protection, because I would hate to mess up the paint, like you said. The retro art on these may actually be my favorite part of the Tiger handhelds.

  • @fixedonretro3882

    I honestly think the paint will be fine however with vintage games like this and at this age you just don’t want to take the chance.

    I have a huge collection of Tiger LCD games including one that's so rare that I'm afraid of ruining it or dropping it. If that were to happen, do you know anyone who gets paid to fix these kinds of games regularly? It was made back in 2004. So it's much more electronically complex than the one you repaired here.
