You bring trust and respect to your trade, Curtis. You don't try to deny culpability, you just take responsibility and fix it. A lot of other techs would've tried to duck, dive and deny!

I have worked with too many so called techs that do the cover up their mistakes with shoddy work or just barely together. I have come behind them to fix the recent repair or install and find all their errors and the company has to take an L on the job with me having to repair it. Really stupid that they never got fired after the 4th or 5th time I find all the problems. It was at least job security for me. Frustration galore with that company. Now working for a different company and less stress.
Props to you for admitting fault. Especially on KZread. Not many people would. Bravo 👍
You Viewers Appreciate you Keeping it Real and Show Us the Success Calls and Call Backs because we ALL know about and Experience them. Thanks! 👍🙏
Lovely:-). Curtis has never cursed on camera. 10+ my friend!
I watched you today and you had to struggle with the yellow wire wire nut wire splice. You even had to go down to the truck to get pliers. Might I suggest using a Waco Fixture connector Item no. 224-201. I think this is a new product for Waco. It will handle the small thermostat tray cable 18 and 20 Ga wire. There is no need to waste time twisting and untwisting them for wire nuts or restriping due to broken wire ends. Just strip the wire and stick it into the splice. To remove the wire just squeeze the splice to release the wire.
Never use Teflon tape on threads of a flair fitting
Curtis you are a true man of integrity. I would love to work for you for a month without pay to just for the knowledge I would gain from you. I'll have to send you the link to my page that you inspired me to create. Much respect from cali 🙌 👊 💪
I Really enjoy these videos.
Good video ! threads were most likely junk from the factory. seen it a bunch of times. 1) Why no Wet Rag on Fitting while brazing ? where stub out meets new valve best to wrap wet rag right there. 2) Get yourself a $5 husky bag from home depot for doing a little air handler work. throw a multi screwdriver 🪛 in it , wire strippers and a meter. just nice to have a little bag for quick trips at air handler. a couple fuses maybe , a few wire nuts & lil popper.
Nice work Curtis.

Put the Flare in the space between the 2 Wheels so you just cut off the Flare and save the length of the Pipe.
Those Gree work real good in cold weather. No need for heat strips in South Georgia 👍
We have the same navac flare tool and torque wrench. Cant go wrong with them. Also we had a customer supplied mini split ymgi brand that came with the treads already jacked up. Kind of a pain to braze in lol.
Curtis good job and as for that connection and the stripped thread I am not sure it was your fault even the thread pattern on the connection might not have been cut corectly at the factory too. But at Least you replaced the part and made it right and about time you did more gree vidoes. Plus we need to remember the rest of the world uses the metric system too.
Don't know if you've ever heard of HVAC TALK it's a forum for primarily licensed people but they allow customers so long as you don't try to get free service which is understandable.
Well done Curtis, it's now up and runnig nicely 👍 Au

Love these videos. Learned a lot. Laughed a lot too.
Where do those copper chips go when you deburr that freshly cut liquid line that is in a vertical position?
A step ahead of most Maybe several steps ahead. Thanks for the video. Best wishes
Great Job as usual !!
That thing tried to put the gree gree on ya.,lol At least you got it done. Good Job
I heard some prehistoric Teradactyles going off in the background. Stay safe out there !!
Interesting that they put isolation valves on the evaporator would make future leak searches a bit easier bejng able to pressurise just the evaporator coil, lineset and condenser Interested to know if you do find out if you can force 100% capacity on those units
11:50 Hope that circuit board doesn't get toasted from rising heat.
Those pesky sticky disconnects.. A shot of WD-40 would lube on the plug in handle contacts will slick it up a little and also remove any moisture from those connections. I would shut off the power at the breaker before spraying the disconnect just in case something is conductive, but since it's really made for that kind of use as a water dispersant... I know it works great on extension cords around the house.
10:05 - Is it not necessary to heat shield that new valve for brazing?
Sadly this seems to be the norm lately on mini-split installs.

Because flaring is sorta of an automotive trait that hvac dont have and sadly wont have unless they work on their own cars to understand

Hi Curtis, did you ever get a scope to check your generator? I’d be interested in your findings. This morning I ordered one from Vevor to check out. It can’t be as good as the Tek ones I’m used to, but for $99 thought would try. 2ch, 100MHz, 1Gs/s.

No, but I need one. Plan on doing more generator videos.
The right way to fix that, there's only one right way to fix that it's to replace the valve. If any one in therye right mind wanted to try and fix that with out replacement are just crazy and should not be in this trade.
Good job owing up to the issue, but I don't think it was really your fault. The quality of the "brass" they use for those fittings and nuts isn't the greatest. Do you have Nylog? I used it on the few minisplits I have installed and it helps with flare fittings. A drop on the threads and the shoulder of the flare makes them go on like butter.
So you valved off BOTH evaporator service valves. And pulled a Vacuum from the suction side of the odu all thru the “liquid line” to the indoor unit? Never really messed with splits
Things aren't hot, they're always just heavy...😉
At 21:35 did I notice the secondary drain plug out?
Curtis, Have you ever used “ Flareseal” on flares?
Dont those Gree units have an eev in the outdoor unit? If so thats an expansion line, not a liquid line and should be insulated like the suction line.
@HVACGUY

Yes and no. The eev is only to add subcooling. It is a true liquid line. And the txv is in the air handler.
Are those battery powered pumps worth it? How is the battery life on them?

Usual temp split on ac is 20 mini split can be 30+. More efficient, quieter, each room can be different temp.
