Good afternoon, is this tin soldering fluid made by you yourself? or is it industrialized?

Hello Timo. Are you a professional full time brass repair tech or are you doing repairs as your hobby? By the way - have you ever had a chance to blow into an early 1970-s Aristocrat built in the Selmer period? Sometimes a horn labelled as 'student' can turn out a not so bad instrument regardless of what people say. It happens for one simple reason: once someone has a "not so good " (whatever that means) experience with a later, in this case Selmer product of any type (could be a Bundy sax), he spreads a rumour that all horns from that period (including brass) are 'bad' while some instruments can actually be quite decent depending on the production run.

Hello John, thanks for your comment. I'm repairing brass instruments as a sideline job and no I haven't tried an Aristocrat from 1970's. I agree with you that also student instruments can be great players and shouldn't be judged without trying. I think though that the quality is usually more consistent on horns labeled as professional.

The Olds Ambassador was supposed to be a "student" trumpet, and they are GREAT horns. Mind you, nearly all Olds horns are 1st rate.

Timo, Can you comment on the serial number on the valve block. It is hard to read in the video, but it looks like 109488, which wouldn't fit into the normal serial number scheme of 1960s Beuscher cornets. Could it be 409488? That would put it at about early 1965. Or if it is 408488 it is probably late 1964.

The serial number is 109488 and it doesn't fit the normal serial number scheme. But I read from Buescher Loyalist site that: "some of the 1960s "Side Scroller" and possibly "Top Scroller" logoed trumpets/cornets that have serial numbers in the 100,000 range. These obviously are NOT subject to this serial number chart. These are most likely mid to late 1960s instruments."
