    That's a horrible jod your bucking water. As a roofer you should know to start from the drain and work your way out. Especially at a drain.

    I am sure you are better than me, you have learned things I have not. But I have been torching for 30 years, and almost never have any issues with my roofs. But you are welcome to set up a time, I would like to make a video from a real "expert" that knows how to torch.

    Sure is a lot of work for a loose drain ring. I would had never done that. And yes, you need to warm the material. I bet it leaked the next storm and someone had to go back and rework the drain install itself.

    SBS modified cap sheet usually hot mopped. Plus should have centered the drain sheet first then plied onto it....

    When we were doing hot tar it was a requirement. I have been looking at gaco coatings have you used any of it. I have 25 year old epdm roofing to coat that I installed. Just starting to look worn

    @@copperworks I have never used any Gaco products because I have seen to many Silicone Coatings fai. But I do believe that Super Silicone Seal by Bergstromm.com is a very food product for patching on a EPDM roof. I have tested it many times and I am surprised at the outcome every time.

    You guys don’t require safety gear there? Like guard rails or fall protection ?

  • @FlatRoofDoctor

    @FlatRoofDoctor

    3 жыл бұрын

    Yes, it is required. If you work for the Union, then that's what you do. if you are self-employed, then setting up all the required safety precautionary gear, railings, will bankrupt you before you even start. Making repairs on roofs all my life, it would take longer to set up railings and safety harnesses than doing the repair themselves. I do believe in making sure you are safe, but not to the extent where it is unnecessary and no one will get hurt. The video you are have left this comment on shows me and my 2 daughters working on a drain 15 feet away from the roof edge, what would the purpose of the railing be in this case?

    @@FlatRoofDoctor yes i hear you. Here in Canada they have officers that go around job sites and give out fines for violations. One company I worked with received a 40,000 dollar fine for no railing on a flat roof hotel we were doing. The amount of fine is based on the companies gross sales. Make more Pay more. I do mostly reroof shingles on steep slope here. Thanks for your videos man. Cheers

    @@ouimetco Yes. Osha also has agents that go around fining people. I have had an $800 fine 20 years ago for a small violation. But most of the time, I am on roofs where I can't be seen. Especially flat roofs. Can you imagine if I go up on a roof to do repairs. that I have to construct a railing around the ladder area, set up a flag system 5 ft from the roof, bring up fire extinguishers, and then bring up a torch and tank to do a repair that takes less than an hour, then take down everything again. I would never be able to survive. I think common sense is what is needed. BTW, thanks for your comment. Happy roofing in Canada

    Hi Trent. I had to repair multiple leaks on a old Costco building that is an wear house now. Not only repair, but warranty no leaks for the next 5 years. To find the leaks were the hardest part. The drain in this video was a relatively easy repair because it was a obvious mistake previous repair men made. The entire project cost around $15 k. Let me know if that is the answer you needed to know.
