Repairing a Dewalt DWS727. How to replace noise bad bearings on a dewalt miter saw.

These Dewalt miter saws can be hit or miss these days. But one thing is for certain, when the beatings start to get loud, get them replaced.
These new Dewalt saws as nothing like the old models. These saws are not tough and a bad bearing in them can cook a motor, no problem.
These bears are only cheap bearings so change them if your in any dought.
luckily this customer didn't like the sound it was making and decided to take action before it got any worst.

Hi Dean, great watching you, I have the same DW708 and have the same problem. You are very good at explaining how to repair. Where are you located, I would love you to fix a saw in Birmingham if you do that for people. Thank you.

Going to echo a few comments here - thank you for the videos Dean. I have rescued my Makita DHP482 from the bin based on your videos. One question, what make are those hex shank screwdriver bits you use?

Glad it helped. the bits are Wiha. They are out of the system 6 set they have. very handy for using in a drill. digicat.wiha.com/gb/en/tools/multitools/interchangeable-blades/wiha-system-6/sets/579/screwdriver-with-interchangeable-blade-set-system-6?c=19

People really need to learn how to clear the vents. I'd hate to think about how much kit you have to repair just because there was an overheating issue caused by blocked vents 😅

One thing does surprise me - you don't use a magnetic tray for small parts & screws etc, which is automatic with me. Instead you only strip & handle one device on the bench at any time. Then use parts bins for devices awaiting parts. I did once borrow & use one of these nice DeWalt chopsaws, which are generally lovely to use & cut cleanly.

hi , so how would "you" get the fan off of this if the bearing was the other side of the fan as seems to be the case in radial arm saws, i have seen a lot of videos where people struggle with this problem do you have any thoughts or a video showing how you personaly accomplish this and do all bearing manufactures use the same code numbers ie pn# 6203 will be the same from all producers but of a diffrent quality . thanks again for the videos

99% if these Dewalts I repaired that had motor/sound issues it was the large bearring on the armature being bad or even totally gone. Also I think on newer types of this model they use 2 speeds and a screw for the pulley instead of it being fit on which makes a lot easier to repair.

whats the 3 jaw bearing puller you used in the video?

It's a Sykes Pickavant micro bearing puller. There are a few copy versions (Laser Tools, Force Tools, Neilsen) that look identical and are much cheaper, but I'd guess the genuine SP one is much better quality, and they even sell spare parts for the puller in case you break something.

What is it these days with manufacturers scrimping and cutting corners?. The cost saving for SBD is just a few Euros, but the long term cost will be much more. DeWalt miter saws have always been very highly regarded but it seems they do not care any more about their reputation.

I tell you what it is. Yearly bonus is based on past income/profit in company. Not the future one. Most people just worry about their yearly bonus. Not the future reputation of the company/brand. Sad but true.

Dewalt inherited a gold plated reputation for power tools when they bought the ELU brand, back in the day, especially with their chop saws, and routers. How times have changed !

@@johnbullard5973I used to have a load of Elu kit & still have the Planer & a 96E router. The Planer is probably 30yrs old & only things I replaced on it are blades & belt, it's still a beast of a Planer with 4mm cut. Had their cordless drills also but tbh they weren't they great. But had the Elu diamond core drill that was absolutely awesome until someone stole it. But very shortly after Dewalt took over the quality started to deteriorate. Wasn't anything specific they were just a bit more rattley & you could just tell the parts being used were inferior & while some of their tools now are very good a lot of them are absolutely terrible.
