Repairing a Crown Manual Pallet Truck PTH50

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

So we are moving house and need a pallet truck. Plum for a Crown PTH50, why? Because its cheap and appears to be a good one? So follow me on a welding and seal changing exercise of this recently serviced and inspected pallet truck, i mean what issues could there be?

You wouldn't get much steel stock for £25 so that's a real bargain and as you say quality is always repairable and worth doing.

What worries me is what is considered a serviced and inspected item. Quite frightening really...

@@TinkerBod Completely agree, just unprofessional and downright laziness. Nice to see a corgi, sadly not as popular as they used to be.

To get that axle out from the riser you push the roll pin into the axle then hit the axle out. You’ll be able to hit the roll pin out after you remove the axle.

Hey mate, really good video. I have picked up the pth model for free off local market place and have been sweating over it the past 3 days trying to get the thing to lift. All seals have now been replaced but still not having any luck. I just watched your video and saw what i assumed to be the drain plug on the base of the unit it actually part of the pump valve assembly and that I was missing a spring. Do you have the dimensions of the spring you show at around the 21.40 mark? Secondly, any advice for removing that brass insert? My largest width screwdriver is not cutting it! Tia

Also I cannot for the life of me crack the brass assembly under the plug on 22:10. I'm using a 12mm flat head screwdriver and it is just wanting to strip the slot. It will not budge! I ended up finding the spring. Any advice appreciated! The Jack is lifting but immediately dropping

Hi, if its dropping have you checked the release lever is set correctly/chain is set slack at neutral and not holding the lowering valve. Next check your check valves are correctly assembled and spring return as they should, after that make sure the main ram lip seal is the correct way around. After that i would need to be there, best of luck 👍

BTW, i made a screwdriver as an apprentice that is a special wide blade for applications such as these, give it a quick blip with an impact first but be careful not to aggressive.

@@TinkerBod hi there, I didn't get an alert you had responded so haven't seen your replies till today. Thanks for taking the time. So long story short, i did get it working again and it turned out to be the valve assembly on the bottom of the unit that i had assumed was just a hydraulic fluid drain plug. I found the spring i had lost and replaced the ball bearing and it immediately started working. Was a great feeling! Anyhow, I still didn't get the other port open and gave up at the risk of further ruining it. Your video was really useful but in the end it came down to me losing the spring and ball very early on, like ten minutes in, into the repair!
