what a fabulous video , Dr. Paul ! i had no idea this was going to be so labor intensive . an hour per wrap times 14 wraps is a lot of time !!! i'm surprised it took 5 water baths to get the page to get fairly clear . my dealer friend here in the Vancouver area had his Flash Comics no. 2 done by a pro and was charged $500 CDN for the conservation . now i understand how much work had to be done to the 64 pager ! can't wait to see the outcome of this page on the next video ! thanks again for what you do !

Thank you for the kind words Rick! It is labor intensive but can be made much quicker without sacrificing quality. I think this would have been done in fewer washes if I had used a surfactant. Also it takes longer to film and document everything for the channel and you can stack pages in the bath if you have a production going.

Thank you Dr Paul, another winner. Just a note on the Tengujo tissue. I used to fold over the excess tengu tissue to the backside of the tear to give it symmetrical mechanical strength. It isn’t as eye-appealing but better as a general practice. Although I now just apply the tengu to one side and cut the excess after the page dries up.

Great video, Dr. Paul! Very informative. I've got a book I'd love to repair the staple holes on the inner wrap---if I ever get the nerve to try.

Does the holytex leave an impression in the paper? Enjoying the journey 👍

Sky Patrol, thanks! The Hollytex does not leave an impression. In fact, it is used to literally lay down new paper during leaf casting. It has a very smooth surface.

@@DrPaulKosnik Thank you. I have found a website that carries archival supplies you use including Tengujo paper in 3, 5, and 9 oz rolls. KZread won't allow embedded links or I'd leave it here😥 Thanks for the instructional videos. Reminds me of going to the theater every week to see a serial (cliff hanger)

@@skypatrol716 there are several good supply houses for archival supplies, I have ordered several items from Talas. Another great resource is the Facebook group Comic Book Conservation Community. Glad you are enjoying the series and the channel!
