Repair/Restoration: Salvaged C64

A while back I saw pictures of an abandoned storage area that used to be part of a computer shop. Left for over 30 years, the building next door caught fire so the roof had a hole punched through so the fire brigade could douse the inside to stop the fire spreading.
Two brave souls have been salvaging what they could and I was lucky enough to get my hands on this poorly C64C, so lets see if it can be salvaged. Oh, and even more water is involved...

Necroware does that water washdown on virtually every board he works on with a very high success rate.

Will need to check him out, thanks! For me, washing a board is water just goes against everything I thought I knew. It genuinely felt so wrong...
I started thinking - Oh no, not another C64 video, but this one is actually excellent! - Nice to see a total restoration! - Looking forward to the next part 🙂

Great job so far! I think there's nothing wrong with scrubbing something that bad in the sink, provided you rinse it off with IPA and dry it properly! I did the same thing to a super dirty sound card recently!

That poor c64c needed some love and care...nice job.I never realised you could just submerge a pcb like that lol.

Hey, Happy New Year and thanks for the comment! TBH, I was kinda freaked out by the that whole experience (if you couldn't tell) and personally, unless it's absolutely necessary, I'll stick to Isopropyl!
I remember a video where @The8BitGuy put a motherboard in his dishwasher. Lol. I think this sort of thing is fine with the proper care and drying afterwards. Nice video. Looking forward to more.
