Repair Heating Unit Hi-Limit Lockout

Ғылым және технология

I am on a no heat service call. I find no power going to my RTU heat burner section on the control circuit. Then I checked the high limit and find that’s an open circuit. Next day get to where the high limit switches and I tested. Afterwords or replace it and put the HVAC unit back together and test it.

The two extra long screws go in the blower mount in the holes below the two screws you removed to slide the blower out. There is normally 4 of them, two short and two long ones.

@@thehvachacker a little tip you might already know. Most stripped holes in sheet metal can be fixed with a flat tip punch and hammer. But I don't always put all the blower screws back in, especially mobile homes

The wires at the limit should be tied down to one of the mounting screws with a holed cable tie. It takes the pressure off the crimp on connectors.

vibration from the blower can/will ruin the limit switch mounted to or near it, so don't always suspect overheating/poor airflow/short cycling :)

The channel name is correct. Have some pride in your work. IE; strap up your wires, clean up your old parts. Don’t only fix the unit but leave it better than it was when you got there.

I took old parts. I am zip tiring and will fix up unit when I am their for ac pm next Wednesday. This is a service call, t&m. Why charge a customer when I have 4 hours to do ac maintenance. At that point I can do maintenance work. I mention that in the video.

@@thehvachacker what service call is not t&m?? Unless it’s a call back or something. It takes ten minutes to do simple little things. Things like, “if I don’t have a zip tie I’m sure I can find a piece of stat wire”. That type of thing is bullshit. You cut the wire short, your fix was it cut a zip tie and were going to just let it hang until you realize it would get sucked into the blower. You left the high voltage for the blower hanging. It’s just lazy. Even if you are going back next week, fix it right. What if between now and next week someone were to go look at the unit. Would you be proud enough to say, yup I left the unit like that”? We all get in a rush but show some pride in your work.

@@KentuckyReef let me tell you a little something bud. I've owned my own business for 22 years. I put in my first heat pump 33 years ago. I've fired plenty of people like you. If I was Your Boss and I seen that comment I'd fire you on the spot. You people don't know the economics of business worth of flip. You diggle daggle around half a day fooling with shit you don't need to be fooling with instead of fixing the real problem meanwhile the company's other customers are calling someone else because you ain't got there yet. If you want to take pride in something Buddy take pride in fixing 15 service calls a day before the customers run off. that's what you take pride in. Also your statement was pretty stupid take pride in it?? how the heck's the next person comes along going to have a clue who done what inside that unit. I know you're not smart enough to be working on heating and air units. Why don't you take pride and post on here where you work at I'd like to have a talk with your boss. Are you too chicken?

When I was in one of those HVAC classes we were watching a video about filtration. It was pretty boring until I heard them say something like 60 percent of the dust in a home is human skin. For some reason that has stayed planted in my head. I have absolutely no problem at all wearing a mask and in those situations, like you were just in, since then. I don't know if it's dangerous or not I just do not like the idea of breathing human skin.
