I was raised in a politically active Roosevelt Democrat home. I have been voting for more than 50 years and forever critical of members of Congress who use their time by making lengthy, and often self-serving statements. Now, here is a woman who is intelligent, bright, focused, courageous, and has the balls needed to shake that arena up. She is a jewel!

Rep Porter rocks & has everyone in the administration afraid to be questioned by her. Thank you.

I loved the one where she was asking a question of an appointee over a federal department and when they could not answer, she asked them to define the term she was asking about, as they struggled to do so, she pulls up a text book that she wrote, and read the definition to them. I wish she was my representative! We are so fortunate to have someone with that skill and passion combined with a determination to do what is right.

Eight years...only eight years at the most. Look at how long Senators stick around developing policy...even Senators well past their time and/or are freaking idiots. She could, one day, well be positioned in the hierarchy of the Senate, possibly Majority Leader. I believe she would be a fair leader, unlike Moscow Mitch.

I think it's very important to hold these "institutions" who usurp the will of God with their blasphemous opinions. Even calling yourself "straight" is in of itself WRONG. It's implying that those who aren't "straight" are going down a path or are somehow less correct for being on a curved, angular, or otherwise "not straight" path. How fucking wrong is you? - Stan - Eminem. I Would hope that if these organizations want to legitimately be regarded as a religious tax exempt institution that they do their best to hold themselves to the standard that America's enlightened, God fearing and otherwise enshrined in the Laws of this country, constitution, bill of rights and other protections that have been deemed Necessary to uphold the safety and stability of the populace. That includes but is not limited to making sure that they are not parroting hate speech and assaults on freedom by any sort of subjugation.

she is not afraid the questions because she actually does the due diligence to study the persons and the topic she is facing in the hearings... she also has the good positions that support the many, but few other have similar positions yet are way less effective

I dont believe in the " jesus" myth , my grandfather instilled a belief in God but that's conversation for another time . I grant you a lot of points brought up by the church goers smack of hypocrisy- in my estimation it's more a case of those who treat the bible as the basis for their bigoted beliefs not the religion itself . If it makes you feel better to have a deity great ~ however do not use that as a justification for your moral " superiority " that is where the stupid comes in . Alice Clark except that all the bigotry and hatred is in the Bible. The secular has moderated the expression of these ideals by these folks, but don’t be fooled, they lean in the Bible for justification because it justifies. Quran, Book of Mormon etc. we’d be better off without any of it. Humanism is the way.

My own religion comes straight from Jesus (not any particular church), who never said one word that would justify bigotry. He did, however, say “Love one another.” Anyway, we’re agreed that Katie Porter rocks.

As a former foster kid who was raised by the most amazing gay couple, I can’t imagine the anger and sadness I’d feel if I had been robbed of this opportunity because of discrimination.

I used to be pretty conservative having been raised in Indiana but thank you Jesus I was a traveler and fascinated with other cultures. I got out into the world and at around 20 my perspective changed so much. If a couple, irregardless of sexual orientation, has enough love in their hearts to adopt and give a child or children a loving stable home, God bless them.

Congresswoman Katie Porter continues to not only prove her own abilities, that are far and above so many others, but it is also her continued actions that substantiate what truly, caring, thoughtful and aware representatives of the government should be doing. Virtually every time Ms.Porter speaks people listen, and there is a reason for that. That said, the excitement and aahh she motivates shouldn't be SUCH a surprise. The whole point of being elected is to represent the people who elected them. Every member of the government should be fighting with Americans in mind. Instead, someone like Ms.Porter must deal with the petty, trivial drama and stupidity of Republicans who are defending the president over any of the people who put them where they are. It's time, Americans need to elect others with a similar intellect of Ms.Porter and several of the freshman who were newly elected.

Thank you for sharing this interview! As a single mother, I was constantly bombarded with contradictory expectations from the "God fearing community". I was a bad mom for working to support my family, I should be home with them..but those women sitting around collecting government checks and food stamps are lazy and a drain on society (these two statements came out of the same women's mouth). The over-reaching and forceful judgement from a religious community built on "judge not lest ye be judged" is exactly the reason I turned away from religion. What once was a guiding light for humans to coexist peacefully has become a business that thrives on using a divine body to impose the will of a few men on multitudes of people. A business that thrives on destroying anything naturally human in pursuit of their own godliness. Ask any preacher out there who voted for Trump if they did so because he represents what a noble man is and they will tell you no. They voted for him because he represents the end of times..the last demon before the coming of the Lord. In other words..because they hope the earth will soon be destroyed and anyone they think isn't worthy of heaven will be left behind. Phew..sorry but that is a soapbox I have been kicking for years and I'm tired of walking around it.

I absolutely love it when the witnesses start their answers and have that smug look on their faces, thinking, I have her now, there's no way she'll understand this. Katie slays them everytime. She's my hero. I agree with many other reviewers when saying, Katie for president!

I love this woman she has a rapier like questioning style but she is so polite and her voice level doesnt change. She leads the questioner to the cliff edge and let's them fall of the edge and they do because she demands an answer to her questions not filibustering to avoid a truthful answer.
