I struggled with this same decision and ended up getting the PR4000. It has the same 3x3 11ga steel as on the 5000. The main difference is the 5/8 vs 1in holes. The biggest difference and deciding factor for me was the price. The rack and all the attachments on the 4000 cost considerably less. This is huge! When I added it all up, I was able to get my rack and 270lbs of plates for the price of just the 5000 rack alone. Then when you combine all the attachments, it’ll add up even more. Sandwich j-cups, safety straps, flip down safeties, Iso arms, lat/low row, rear stabilizer, front feet, spotter arms, multi grip pull-up bar, weight stack, and dip bar are all cheaper on the 4000! I wouldn’t be able to even get half of that with the 5000 because of cost. Both are very solid and don’t let the price fool you, the 4000 is a tank. Surprisingly, you’re paying more for the 5000 with less metal due to all the holes and laser cut numbers. While a lot of items are out of stock now, do yourself a favor and price out everything. If you’re on a budget, you can’t go wrong with the 4000. If money is no object then the 5000 or Rogue Monster is a great option. If you can get as much as you can at once, you can limit shipping cost for each item rather than shipping separately. The rack is shipped via freight so try and add a bench or anything else heavy you plan to buy to minimize shipping. If they haven’t shipped out your stuff yet, you can email them to combine your order on the freight to reduce shipping. Took them about 2 weeks to ship mine so I was luckily able to add items such as the weights and lat/low row attachment as soon as it came in stock. Since I bought this in August, I have noticed recently that REP has raised prices on a few of their items by $10-20. I believe the FB5000 bench also went up from $149 to $169 and now $179. Sorry for the long post but hopefully y’all find it helpful in your buying decision.

I didn't even consider the price of adding all the accessories up! That's a huge factor to consider, and the fact that you could get the 4000 AND weights, for the same price as the 5000 is amazing. I was personally already leaning towards the 4000, but this kind of seals the deal in that direction. Thanks for the tip regarding shipping and combining as much as possible in the one shipment. Rather than buying each piece individually, this will definitely help with budgetary constraints. Thanks providing some very useful insight and detail in the post, it has definitely helped me out with my buying strategy

@@WynnStrength A lot of people keep seeing these racks out of stock. What people don’t realize is you can buy the uprights and crossmembers separately and piece it all together. This is what I did. All the bolts/hardware comes with the crossmembers. This way you can mix and match colors as needed. I got the basic matte black with 6 post for weight storage. Additional colors cost a bit more. I believe it is in stock now!! Look under strength/rack attachments for rack model.

@@WynnStrength Great idea! Just to add one interesting fact. The flip down safeties and spotter arms come with 1 inch holes throughout with the 5/8 pin for the 4000 rack. The rest of the rack has 5/8 holes throughout. I think this is cool because you now have the best of both worlds. I can use some of the 5000 attachments such as the utility horns and leg rollers on the 4000.

I am selling my selectorized titan lat pull down and titan foldable 3x3 rack to get pr5000 with selectorized lat pull down attachment. I have many titan x-3 rack attachments that I would like keep (5/8") however I would have to buy thoese adapters to make my 5/8" to 1" I think it will be cheaper than buying them again for the pr5000.

Wynn, thanks for your review of the 4000 and 5000. In the 1st part of your video you mentioned you have a Titan T-3. I’ve been researching for about 3 months now, reading and watching numerous videos like yours trying to to determine what’s going to suit my needs. I’m torn between Rogue, REP and Titan. I have all the weights I need and an adjustable squat rack that has an adjustable height for squats as well as bench press. However, I’m ready to upgrade my home gym. I’m in my mid 60’s so I won’t be doing anything extremely heavy so the 4000 will probably be good for me. I do want the height on a rack so when I’m doing pull ups I don’t want my feet to touch the ground so the 93” will be good. Also, I’m not going to be bolting the rack down. Do you think by adding the uprights to the rear for plate storage making it a 6 leg rack would make it stable enough without adding the front feet extensions? Lastly, if I were to get the 4000, I’d like to have an easy release pin adjustable pull up bar that could easily be moved up and down the uprights. I prefer this to be able to do body weight exercises and this would be a deal breaker for me. Titan and Rogue have them and also have a “attachable child’s pull up bar” that is strong enough for an adult. I’m wondering if one of those might work on the REP 4000. I’d appreciate anyone who can answer my concerns.

    - I'd lean more towards Rep or Titan for the racks. Titan's come a long way since I bought mine, and isn't as 'cheap' as it once was (The current T-3 doesn't include a couple of accessories it used to). If you haven't yet, check out the Titan X-3 rack, might be a contender vs the PR4000? - I don't think you can go wrong with each one, but Titan & Rogue currently have a lot more accessories available. I'm not sure if 3x3 accessories from TItan/Rogue are compatible with Rep Racks - may be worth a question to their customer service. - Just make sure whichever rack you choose, all the accessories you need for your workout are compatible. - Without any weight posts, the T3 with only 4 posts worked for strict chinups, I tried doing kipping pullups and swining leg raise and was able to raise the legs off the ground. - The only problem you'll see without bolting the rack down is the feet will shift around over time (every time you re-rack a barbell), just mark the floor where the feet are square and adjust back every 6 months or so - I wouldn't have any safety/stability concerns if you're making it a 6 post 3x3 rack setup. Especially if you're doing all your lifts inside the main rack, and even if you'll be lifting in the front, you'd have to be resting at least the weight of the rack on the safeties for it to become a tipping concern - As for the adjustable pull up bar, I'm not sure if that's cross compatible with the Rep, and if they don't make one, might have to stick to Rogue or Rep. Hope that helps! Let me know if I left anything out

@@WynnStrength Wynn, I appreciate the quick reply. You mention the Titan X-3, I’ve looked at that rack long and hard because it comes in a flat foot model, which may be more stable since I won’t be bolting down. You’re absolutely right in that Titan has come a long way. I’ve seen some poor reviews of just 3 or 4 years ago, but most all reviews recently have been very positive. They’ve definitely upped their game. Unfortunately the adjustable pull up bar doesn’t work with the X-3, but does work with the T-3. I do like the accessories that REP has to offer and with all they have it could get expensive. I know you state to stay away from Rogue, however, I have looked at their RML-390F which is a flat foot rack and appears to be one of their entry level racks. It’s cost is $895. just for the rack, but I’ll probably stay with Titan since the prices are somewhat lower than Rogue. Thanks again.

Which ones are easier and more convinient to use the Flip down safeties or the strap safeties for rep fitness rack? What are the advantages or disadvantages of using one vs the other one?? • @WynnStrength

For speed of changing the levels, I would say the flip down safeties are quicker, since you're only moving one bar. Flip down safety advantages: - long run sturdier - faster swapping - can attach band pegs or other accessories to the sides Flip down safety dis-advantages: - can be harder on the barbell - rack pulls, there'll be more bounce as you set the barbell down - bulkier if space is an issue Strap safety advantages: - can set each end at a different height so the barbell rolls away from you - easier on the barbell - better for rack pulls Strap safety dis-advantages: - more finicky to change height - more points of failure - shorter lifespan - can be harder to get the right safety height during bench press I don't believe the accessories are cross compatible between the 2 racks Tough decision as to which one to get, comes down to budget, space requirements and aesthetic preferences.

Nice overview. I have the PR4k but recommend going with a 5k. The fully numbered holes and 1 inch hardware are worth it. Westside hole spacing isn’t that useful, especially with safety straps that already allow fine tuned adjustments. Cheaper is better yes but $250 more isn’t much in the grand scheme of home gym expenses.
