The fact that this song was not a mammoth hit back in 1985 will always puzzle me...I have been humming along to this for more than 30 years now... this song is huge in my own lil world !!!

The name of the song is a pun. "One lonely Knight', (the lonely Sir Knight). "One lonely night", (the Wizard's imposed, 'night of testing'-to which the Sir Knight passed well enough to be crowned a King and regain his wife' love and respect. Awesome song and video. Rarely played on MTV. Thanks for the post!

First Reo is one of the greatest of American Rock bands. Second this is one of their greatest songs. The video is great.story works with the song. The message of support,learning and love is also great. Did you guy's pick up on the fact he was "clutz" because he actually needed glasses,. All in all a good mini-story/song for all age groups. It sure is classy beats many of the weird,strange disgusting stuff comes out today

There was some sort of copy right problem or something idk, but for the longest time the music video was blocked, but then one day I tried it again and there it was.

A great song.I have had since it's release in 1985,very great memories of this REO Speedwagon brillant music work when I was only a boy of 9. Thanks very much for posting.

They don't make them like this anymore. This brings me straight back to my teenage years, when every song had a meaning and was written for you, especially after your girlfriend broke up with you. If you read this and your under 20, enjoy every minute.

This is such a great song. I forgot how good this is. I definitely think "One Lonely Night" is better than their big number one hits. The arrangement, chord changes and melody are more interesting and dynamic!

Just happened to see this video in 1985 a couple of days before my first trip to England. It gave me a nice sentimental feeling knowing that I was about to visit a land of medieval cottages, castles and knights that I would fantasize about when I was a boy. It was extremely rainy that summer (Even the British were complaining) but I was on such a high visiting Europe for the first time that it didn't bother me much.

I think the video is actually pretty good considering the decade it was produced in

Probably REO'S most greatest song;In terms of creativity.A great Music Video and furthermore one of my very most memorable as well as favorite MVs by this legendary exstrodinary great Rock band.Oh yes my very most loved and favorite rock band when I was a 9 year old kid. - Fondly remembered truely.

I'm currently rediscovering a band that I wish I'd paid closer attention to in the 70's and 80's. For some reason I keep listening to all their live stuff and now I'm watching all their videos. I think this song should tell us that Neil Doughty has more creative musical genius that needs to be teased out, and shared with the public at large. Rip Gary Richrath!!

+Maya Devy I was 12 in 1985 and I think it was released then. In 1985 my mother and me had cable television for two years then and there was nothing more better then Friday nights watching and listening to the great music of that time COME ALIVE on a cable t.v. network broadcast. I remember this song and video very well! It was just last week I watched and listened to this song and video for the first time in almost 31 years. Thank the almighty Creator for KZread and thanks for your own personal post. It's great to see others out there with the same interests.

Lots of the music I like more now that I'm older, including this one. Believe I was maybe 10 when it came out and I'm now 44. The video matches the words pretty accurately.

A great time machine tune it never grows old it's better than anything on pop radio in 2023. They just don't make music like this anymore

Oh so he's a cluts because he needed glasses. Poor guy. So glad the wizard helped him out. There is something catchy about this song. I remember dancing to this song in my room as a teenager.

Los 80, esa época inolvidable en donde la calidad de los videos era inversamente proporcional a la de las canciones. Este caso no es la excepción un desastre para semejante temón. De todas maneras gracias siempre por poder vivir esa época con música impresionante, en comparación a la que tenemos hoy con vídeos con mucha tecnología pero música calamitosa.

El video tiene un poco de sentido: la canción es One Lonely night (una noche solitaria), pero también es un juego de palabras: One Lonely Knight (Un caballero solitario), ya que Knight y Night se pronuncian muy parecido.

@@clevishook de hecho al principio pense realmente (viendo el video) q si, el tema se llamaba "one lonely knight" (era un niño en ese entonces) y tanto el video como la cancion se pueden entender de ambas formas Night y Knight se pronuncian igual ( la k es muda en este caso)

I enjoyed working on this music video. I was the Production Assistant but also worked as Grip and Electrician. The generator caught on fire in downtown Los Angele. Fun project. Lots of smoke = black boogers. Kevin Dole is awesome director.

Wow I think the last time I listened to this song was over 35 years ago back in 1984 when I was in my early 20's. Loved it then Love it even more now that I'm in my 50's. it's still My all time Favorite Song REO Speedwagon ever did !

It happened to me with a Bananarama' song....Love, Truth and honesty

I love this song. I've seen REO so many times in 70s. I was fortunate enough to see them at Market Square Arena when they recorded some songs for their live album. This song is always a poignant reminder of what REO meant to me for some reason.

If you're still watching this in 2020, you're amazing.

Listened to REO on Spotify tonight and wanted to revisit this video. Wonderful & whimsical directing & cinematography (the latter a bit dated by the years), comic touches & fun cameos by the band throughout, all in a sweet "fantasy-mixed-with-modern-day" backdrop. Still love it.

What I like the most from the video, its story makes the song less sad. They describe it in funny way.
