The woman with the man seems to be hearing him, it is noticeable that she is the only one that wears nothing on her head and shows to be without an umbrella. In fact and most revealing her basket is empty except for something which secretly resembles a flowers, the man seem to be the only one whispering close to her ear so she listens to him. The whole rest wears flowers on their heads, the little girl already shows the hoop rolling, the woman on eyes closed seem to be rejecting the man´s whisperings. On the background there is something like foliage which connects to the umbrellas all over the heads of the community on the place.

I have a framed print of this..it was nice to get a better understanding of Renoir's working of this fine period piece of art..merci..from a simple american such as me..rick
The Umbrellas painting was also from Blue's Clues on the episode "Art Appreciation"
