    29:50 The reason Seagal is saying "Sakamoto Sensei" is because in Japanese culture, you refer to a person by their last name or "family title" first and then you say your relationship with that person last. The teacher's last name was Sakamoto, so Seagal refers to him as "Sakamoto-Sensei"

    seagal's fight scene suck as well. every damn movie he's been in has seagal playing the same character: some ex-army special forces guy who is uber badass and wades through men like a lawn mower. there is no tension or drama in his fights. he's unstoppable and no one, not even people with similar backgrounds as seagal, can stand up to him. in fact, i only remember ONE movie where he gets punched and only because he let the other guy do it and then he destroyed him. now take "john wick" on the other hand. john's fights are well chorigraphed and executed by keanu reaves who actually trained in effective HTH combat. but most of all, john wick gets hit, shoot, stabbed and beaten up because despite him being a mythic figure in the world of assassins, he's still human. he gets hurt but he keeps going. that's why we enjoy the john wick fight scene. steaven seagal is just a guy who wants to live out his character in real life. (i use character in the singular because he plays the same damn guy in every damn movie)

    The reason Aikido is believed to be so good is that it use to be legit. Aikido was a practice used against armed opponents with katanas. If in the battlefield, if you ever drop your weapon, you need disarm your opponents. That’s why it’s primarily wrist twisting. Some positions are even is the Seiza positions, the Japanese style of sitting on their knees, because assassination attempts often happen during peace deals and meetings. However, same like Chinese kung fu, another martial arts used in war, it became fucking shit. After years of peace and the existence of firearms, you don’t have to legitimately practice martial arts anymore. It’s not for combat but purely out of tradition. Martial arts that use to be used for war instead become exercises used by old people at the park to stay fit. You can equate their original purpose to a gun and the new martial arts to a airsoft Gun.

    I hate to start an argument, but Seagal’s form of Aikido may be fake, but Aikido is a genuine martial art. However, I do consent that it is not practical. I watched a video by on a channel called Martial Arts Journey run by a man who did start out as an Aikido practitioner and even he admits that the style is inflexible and the masters who trained him encouraged him to to avoid interacting with any other schools of martial arts, which I believe is the source of modern Aikido’s problems

Also apparently Steven stay away from Micheal mostly in the filming of it

    Even if I barely see Steven Seagal in the limelight, even on KZread or Facebook, I already knew that he is fully aware of the Russian-Ukrainian war that has been going on for over a week. That's what brings me here. Just saying and I hope you are also aware of that, guys. (Note: He still has Russian Citizenship, that is why and no other updates) He may be a certified tough guy, but I can't be too sure about what else he has to say. Let's Google guys.

I remember odds1out made a video about it and based on that I can only think it’s meant to be sold to parents who don’t actually want there kids doing something violent

    Aikido is very much the defensive version of judo and the shittier cousin of tai chi, and it’s very boring to look at. As a form of self defense, it sucks. It requires specific circumstances for the opponent (like having a weapon that requires an overhead swing, a thrust, or a wide swinging arc) in order for the martial art to be effective. Seagal’s version of aikido is way worse because he tries a bit too hard to make a lame martial art look cool by adding offensive ability to it (when aikido’s main and only offensive ability is counterattacking) but it looks like he’s doing a sissy kung fu slapfest that practically does nothing.

  • @thewaltman4

    Yeah, even the dojo I went to for a couple of months (kinda stopped since I got busy) even admits to keep an eye out in case if the person gets out mid-technique. Then there’s shotokan, which is aikido but tries to be more offensive. Even then either go do Judo, BJJ or MMA training.

  • @boxtank5288

    @boxtank5288

    @@thewaltman4 At least Shotokan ACTUALLY can pull off offense and doesn't seem reliant on specific circumstances. I took Kenpo, became a First Degree Black Belt (left a little after as lessons started getting EXPENSIVE) and it is pure defense and counters (from what I could tell, though they did not slack on teaching how to throw a punch, send out a kick, etc.) and some weapons training (Nunchuks and Staff).

    Steven Seagal does have actual aikido black belts that he got in Japan, from the Japanese. Those aren't just handed out. That's probably the only thing that is not fake. But I think most people know aikido is not practical, and trying to use it will only get you hurt- unless you incorporate it into another style that does work.
