Actually, one of the kids Michael (I believe he was the one that gave the speech) answered some questions on reddit and revealed that practically all of the show WAS unscripted and that although there were adults behind the scenes they were encouraged to interfere as little as possible. Funny thing about it is that the kids apparently did better than expected so the producers bacicly started problems (such as creating a mess) just so they could have another challenge.

Fun fact, one of the 11 year old kids got grease splattered on them while cooking, burning their face. The kid's mother filed a complaint but basically nothing came of it. This show also was the impetus for a lot of tighter restrictions on child labor laws in that state as well as an investigation into whether the kids were technically actors or not.

Next video, an interview with the youngest kid and first one to quit, 13 years later: Yeah, none of the actual stuff that you see with us kids was scripted, there was a bare minimum amount of supervision to make sure we wouldn't just pass out and die from the heat or something, but all those shots of kids breaking down crying and trying to rally together? Completely real fear of actual children.

Hey guys, didn’t know if you were wondering but they had a camera crew and adults nearby, but apparently they rarely intervened and according to a subreddit made my Micheal who was 14 at the time on the show, everything was actually genuine and unscripted, however the only thing unscripted was the book the town counsel had to read and the choice of reward. Otherwise apparently all of their reactions and shit were genuine and everything that happened was as real as it could be. Also Micheal said he got some food from the camera guy and a lot of the kids liked John and the crew and producers. The network were the ones who were annoying by trying to manufacture drama

There was a couple shows similar to this in the UK, with boys-only and girls-only experiments where they gave the kids a very large manor to live in on their own for a week. No tv, no radio, but there was necessary electricity such as the fridge/microwave/electric stove/lights/etc., and gave them tons of indoor & outdoor activities. It was also only for 1 week. The boys-only was basically exactly lord of the flies, but the girls...the girls one was fascinating, they started with order with a little bit of anarchy (cause they're kids), but there was so much sneaking and spying and bullying and backtalking. Very sad to see, but very interesting nonetheless

"wait you'll take my kids for 40 days, and I'll get 5k? HUN! PACK FOR BORA BORA"
Jimmy was the smartest kid there, he didn't give into peer pressure to stay, he knew what he wanted and he wanted to go home, play games, sleep in a comfy bed, watch cartoons and be with his real friends and family.
I just saw a thumbnail of this Jontron video you are reacting to, and it reminded me of this channel and I thought I wonder if they've reacted to it? Oh well, I'll just go see if they uploaded a Rick and Morty reaction lately. Then it turns out you just reacted to this very video 18 minutes ago. Weird
Never stop being awesome guys
I remember this damn show... never watched it, but I remember seeing the ad for it on TV, back when I watched television. My mom was watching a show the other day that reminded me a bit of this... ironic.
I feel like Johnathan wanted to make a game show about kids working hard together showing that they’re more competent than adults give them credit for but corporate said “Fuck them kids. Put em in desert”
Some random kid from the show: hehe, I'm in danger! 😁
You guys should watch the interview sequel to this video. “Jimmy Tells All” It works very well as a follow up .
John 13:37 Peter asked, “Lord, why can’t I follow you now? I will lay down my life for you.”
YES I needed you guys to react to this!!!!!!
Been waiting forever for this reaction!!!!!!!
You gotta watch Jon's interview with Jimmy
On Jontron's Subreddit, a guy made a thread detailing a lot of the fucked up stuff that went on with this show. For example, some of the clauses in the forms the parents had to sign included they would not be responsible if the kids died, and they would not be held responsible if one of the kids got pregnant or got an STD from one of the other kids. Also the crew were sneaking some of the kids some food, when they weren't filming
6:20 reaction starts right here. No need to thank me
Ok, along with a Nate rage compilation video, we need a perfectly time compilation now. It'll be called Renegade "Called it" Moments, or "Called it Comp, or whatever the creator wants. Just throwing out ideas since I can't make videos yet
This brought back memories for me. I did something kind of similar to this with my girl scout group. If course we were in the heart of Chicago and not in the middle of god knows where, but we did run our own little town for like a week. We had our own currency, we had shops, times to work, rest, and all that. It was for girls i think about 7-16 at the time. I ws like 10. This just brought up weird memories that I didn't even know I had
i’m watching this while being smothered in 78 degrees in my room.
This show only lasted one season, and faced many lawsuits from afl-cio and sag-aftra
never saw the actual jontron video until now but my friend did a bit ago and we watched kid nation, boy what a time

Eric Andre trolling Alex Jones is the best. Alex thought he was from the Daily Show. 😂
This show was awesome! Now that’s how ya toughen up the next generation!🤣
Nostalgia Critic made a review on Freddy Got Fingered and uhhh...oh boy....it’s quite the journey...
It occurred to me that you guys never watched JonTron’s Architecture Tier List.
In Sweden we had a similar show called Wild Kids.
Jontron interviewed one of the kids yesterday so react to that if you want to understand how it was behind the scenes
Me when that kid said, “it looks like there was something here and now it’s gone.”: Yes, in essence, that is exactly what a ghost town is.
The whole season is on KZread for free if you guys what to react to it.
"Not that straight are ya" That made me spit my drink out
You should watch Jon's interview with Jimmy.
Guys the video starts at 0:00 thank me later 😘

13:06 - Also this goes without saying, but if any of you happen to die during this, then you're disqualified.
Another JonTron reaction? This is literally the work of blue!
oh I've been waiting for this
I'm watching this and just eyeballing the Jimmy interview in the recommended on the side, thinking "Oh just you wait, this was wonderfully slapstick"
Chad: "No, wait! I remember this!" I was expecting "I was ON this!!!"
Thanks guys. Was waiting for this. 😇
Now, you're the only way to see the original non-copyrighted ID video.
I know I'm pretty late but Bonanza city is not in the middle of nowhere. It's literally less than an hour's walk from a community. Its also a movie set
